I know I'll be taking tiebreakers a lot more seriously from now on, that's for sure...

Luca Blight was the ultimate loser in this contest (lost to Wesker, who lost to Kefka, who lost to Diablo, who lost to Ganondorf, who lost to Sephiroth).

He joins Gordon Freeman, Ryo Hazuki, River City Ransom, and Viewtiful Joe in the Ultimate Losers Group.

There's a brief (as in the complete antithesis of Ulti's analysis) writeup of the contest in my blog right now (located in my quote).

Jon Thomson - 70 points with a Sephiroth win.
I am to yoblazer as the Yankees are to the Red Sox. Inferior.

Ganondorf's starting to climb back... is that only a fluke? Either way, Kuja's back ahead of Ghaleon, Kefka ahead of Ocelot, and Wesker and Glove ahead of Ramirez.

I think that talk comes from Vivi doing better than everyone expected. He almost held Sephiroth under 70%. If you base Vivi off of DK 2003, then there's some indication that there was SFF. The problem with the big ape, much like Mega Man, is that we only have one year with any conclusive numbers on him.

Ganon is doing an awesome job right now. He's been around 43% for most of the day. I knew he wouldn't be falling apart as much as Bowser did. And Ganon is indeed stronger than Bowser, despite how so many believed otherwise. ;)

ll this match has to do is slightly less then what bowser vs. seph did from this point in time until the end to reach that goal. In all likelyhood, yes this will be a 100K vote match.

Heh. Not only do we get to start up the Samus/Sephiroth debate again, but, if you go through least-square differences (excluding Liquid Snake) and assume that the Magus/Ganondorf is the same as in 2k3 (so, yeah, lots of assumptions), 2k4 Sonic/Magus would be expected to go to Sonic with 50.75% of the vote. So we can start contemplating Sonic/Magus again, too, as well as assuage any doubts about Magus' 2k3 four pack being overrated.

and assume that the Magus/Ganondorf is the same as in 2k3

After this contest, I can certainly believe that Ganon is at least the same as he was in 2003. I think there's an option there for him to have increased, but certainly not the drop some others were talking about earlier.

From: RPGuy96 | Posted: 6/2/2005 2:37:35 PM | Message Detail
I should have worded that better. I meant that the relationship between Magus and Ganondorf is the same; ie: Magus would still beat Ganondorf with 50.3% of the vote. What I have right now through least square differences puts Ganondorf at 36.09% on 2k3 Link, a bit over a percent higher than his 2k3 value.

Oddly enough, though, even with them having a common opponent, I would still be very tempted to take Bowser over Ganon, I mean, the Nintendo split could go either way.

Well, with Link/Mario, we know where the Nintendo split went. I'd take Ganon over Bowser, but 2 things.

1. The split wouldn't be as big as it was with Link/Mario.

2. I wouldn't be as confidient with my Ganon pick as I would with Link/Mario.

well, for whatever it's worth, maybe it's not the nintendo split that abandoned Mario but the Square vote that backed Link.

There's no way Crono would beat Sephiroth. SFF, anyone?

FF VII couldn't manage a significant amount of SFF against Chrono Trigger, so I doubt FF VII's #2 character would manage much against CT's #1. Crono's expected to get 56.46% against ganon, so I think it could be close.

I would prolly take Bowser over Ganondorf, but that is more of a product of some bias. I mean, unbiased, I think it really is a coin flip (maybe a little in the favor of Ganondorf), but given that I think Bowser is a much better character - and villain - I would be willing to throw away those however many points to go with my gut.

That's a lie. Bowser isn't "much better" than Ganon in either one. But to say Bowser is a better villain than Ganon is just flat-out lie.
