All right, this is what least square differences (not counting Liquid) have to say. They're obviously not going to be perfect, but they're the best way we have of translating these results into something semi-usable. I threw in a couple of anchors, and please not that this will change as Ganondorf falls throughout the day (Seph's half will go higher, Ganon's half will go lower).

So I end with 76/80 points. Not bad, but I never cracked the top 50. :( Stupid Sin. Well, that and the fact that I took my sweet ass time getting my bracket in. Not next time though. I'm just going with my instincts and doing it fast.

BTW: Who else is checking out how close their tiebreaker will be? Any predictions so far as to how it will end?

The tiebreaker is pretty much the only thing I'm still interested in. Unless the poll takes a bit of a dip in votes, it looks like Sephiroth will safely overshoot mine.

Well, I've sorta calculated the votes so far and it seems like this would make sense:

24000 votes/ 10.5 hours = 2285 votes per hours (for Seph)

2285 x 13.5 hours remaining = 30847 votes

30847 + 24000 = 54847 votes?

Now I'm sure the voting picks up like crazy during the day though, so I'm sure it will be higher.

Well, let's say Seph ends up with exactly 58% and this match draws exactly 100,000 votes. That gives Seph 58,000 votes, which safely passes my breaker of 57,333. At this point, it's clear that this poll is likely to eclipse 100,000 votes, so I'm just hoping Ganondorf can keep his percentage as high as possible.

But Bowser and Ganondorf doing so well was completely out of left field, and the fact that BOTH are outdoing Mario and Megaman is pretty much proof that the results of this contest are completely void when it comes to predicting a real character battle.

Or it could be, you know, proof that things have changed in the last two years.

MM went from 49.5% on Seph to 38.6% in one year, yet you find it harder to believe that could have changed again over the next two years than that these results are somehow completely unrelated to the regular contests?

So? It still doesn't change the fact that Bowser and Ganon's performances were unexpected.

In my opinion, CATS was the star of this contest, hands down. Everyone treated him as a joke and predicts he's going to get doubled, yet he holds the lead for over five hours. People think he's going to rank 30th or lower, yet he finished in the top half. The only way he could have done any better is if he'd actually won his match.

I never said they weren't. My point is that just because they did better than expected, that doesn't mean these stats are totally invalid when it comes to predicting the summer contest.
