Contest Stats and Discussion - Part 135

I'm not a fan of waiting until marriage. That's too religious for me, plus if you wait, you can really screw yourself over in the end. Sex is an important part of marriage, but some people are sexually incompatible. If you wait until you're married to have sex with someone, then realize that you're not compatible that way, you'll have major problems.

That's not too far off from the truth, actually. I first became enamored with long hair because of Sephiroth.

Wow, Ulti getting married... this really puts some serious age on my virgin self. Hehe. Congrats, man! May I suggest a SotN marathon the day before? Because after that you won't have many occasions to turn down sex... ;) Okay, just wanted to say that. Turning down sex for games and your GF not hating on you for it is absolutely badass.

Speaking of badass, I can't wait to see if Ceej's bringing back the pwnage pics again for the semis. I wanna see Diablo fry Ganondorf with his lightning beam of death so bad, and Ganondorf nailing a Warlock Punch straight through Diablo, with the pic of Diablo bleeding when you kill him in the original and what not. I'm going to be creeped out if the names are in blue though, because so far the names' colors have followed the same code as the BOP.

I guess I'd have to agree, since I've never experienced the latter.

It's so sad that we're talking about this during a match like Kefka/Diablo. We need a Summer Contest.

Not it all if you ask me. Not at all. Heck, I'd be reluctant to put Kefka over Shinra Soldier A from the opening scene. That doesn't mean I think it's a lock though. I just know it would be pretty sad to see Jenova go over Kefka or even Sin for that matter.

Well, at least I can say that Bison probably would've beaten Kefka, like I thought he would. I just underestimated Diablo.

But in the end I'd probably have to... sadly... take Jenova over Kefka and Sin if a bracket were to come to that. I don't think she'd win very comfortably, but yeah, I do think she'd be stronger.

I just hope Jenova never makes it in a contest. It'd just make me sad.

I'm just gonna add onto that post for a lil' bit more with some likely-meaningless additions I forgot the first time, since I got a lil' bored:

Ganon 2k5 = Ganon 2k4 = Ganon 2k3 --- 32.38% on Link 2k4:
18) If Sin = adjusted Auron (by Scorpion 2k3), Robotnik beats Ganon with 51.97%.
19) If Sin = Tidus 2k3, Robotnik beats Ganon with 50.66%.
20) If Sin = adjusted Auron (by Tails 2k4), Robotnik loses to Ganon with 48.46%.
21) If Sin = unadjusted Auron, Robotnik loses to Ganon with 43.42%.
22) If Sin = Tidus 2k4, Robotnik loses to Ganon with 40.21%.
23) If Sin = Yuna (pre-FFX-2), Robotnik loses to Ganon with 34.99%.
24) If Kuja = adjusted Vivi (by DK 2k3), Robotnik beats Ganon with 55.31%.
25) If Kuja = unadjusted Vivi, Robotnik beats Ganon with 51.92%.

Ganon 2k5 (through a steady CATS) --- 25.9% on Link 2k4:
18) If Sin = adjusted Auron (by Scorpion 2k3), Robotnik beats Ganon with 61.58%.
19) If Sin = Tidus 2k3, Robotnik beats Ganon with 60.53%.
20) If Sin = adjusted Auron (by Tails 2k4), Robotnik beats Ganon with 58.73%.
21) If Sin = unadjusted Auron, Robotnik beats Ganon with 53.95%.
22) If Sin = Tidus 2k4, Robotnik beats Ganon with 50.27%.
23) If Sin = Yuna (pre-FFX-2), Robotnik loses to Ganon with 43.75%.
24) If Kuja = adjusted Vivi (by DK 2k3), Robotnik beats Ganon with 64.26%.
25) If Kuja = unadjusted Vivi, Robotnik beats Ganon with 61.54%.

All estimated values involved with translations (expected against Link 2k4):
18) Auron (by Scorpion 2k3) - 32.82% --> Dr. - 33.71%
19) Tidus 2k3 - 31.94% --> Dr. - 32.81%
20) Auron (by Tails 2k4) - 30.55% --> Dr. - 31.38%
21) Auron unadjusted - 27.38% --> Dr. - 28.12%
22) Tidus 2k4 - 25.35% --> Dr. - 26.04%
23) Yuka pre-FFX-2 - 22.06% --> Dr. - 22.66%
24) Vivi (by DK 2k4) - 27.14% --> MH - 29.35% --> Dr. - 36.23%
25) Vivi unadjusted - 25.22% --> MH - 27.27% --> Dr. - 33.67%

I think Dr. Robotnik's gonna win up to be a lil' stronger than Tails...not much, but enough; despite Tails being over Kefka in the x-stats, I'd still barely go Kefka > Tails. Therefore, I'd wind up barely going Robo > Kefka.

Pyramid Head is a great character. As is Guybrush.

Everybody thinks somebody is a great character ;)

The only litmus test on whether a character should be in these contests is contest strength—which is a proxy for how many people think just how great of a character you really are. (and I suppose a case can be made for "board hysteria" exemptions, such as CATS)

If you go through a static Luca Blight and a static CATS, Diablo beats Ganondorf with 51.47%.

I just wanna point out that this assumes that, against Link 2k4, Ganon is 25.9% and Kefka is 25.89%; while Ganon is believable and arguable, I have little question in my mind that Kefka is NOT that close and will be doin' good to match his adjusted value in 2k4 this year. However, I also wanna point out that Diablo's increased the lead since then as well...

...now, I still believe Ganon's gonna win, as I don't think the stats are goin' to be THAT transitive (I don't think the stats in Wesker/Luca are like they should be, personally; leave it to fodder to **** everything up, heh)...but I believe this is goin' to be THE match where cheating occurs if Diablo has cheaters on his side this year. CJay had better keep his eye open, especially if Ganon doesn't quickly put the match away.

Guys, I don't know what you're talkin' about; Ganondorf looks like he's straight out of The Jungle Book (and I say this thinking LoZ:WW is the best LoZ game yet), and it's hard to find a more menacing shot of Robotnik...it looks sharp as well. I like the pic probably more than any other pic thus far in the contest though.
