Sephiroth may get 75,000 votes in this match. He's on pace for nearly 80,000 by himself, which would be more than most of the matches in this contest.

I don't think there's any doubt now that at least Sephiroth/Ganon will be breaking 100K, and probably Sephiroth/Bowser, too.

After this showing by Liquid... Who would you take in a match, Liquid or Sora?

Today? I'd call it a coin toss match. But once KH 2 comes out, I think Sora wins it cleanly.

Nah, Wario's cool. At least he doesn't whine and ***** all the time, and he doesn't sound horrendous when doing a power trip. He's just a comedy character, whereas Liquid and Shadow are actual jokes.

No, really, I don't know who I'd pick. For all we know today may be the mandatory "match that's wrong no matter how you look at it" we've had in virtually every contest so far. However, this DOES make me uneasy. Sora it is, but it could go either way, really.

At his current pace, Sephiroth should hit the triple mark in a few hours.

I'd take Sora over Liquid, by the way.

I'm not sure about that. It all depends on if MGS took another dive or if this is the four-pack's true strength. No amount of adjusting could legitimately give you this result without making Sephy the strongest character in the contest or dropping Liquid into the bottom half near good ol' Ocelot.

I'm inclined to say that Liquid dropped somewhat. I'll take Frog over Sora.

Oh, and just for curiosity's sake...Somebody measure Liquid's 2004 to 2005 (unadjusted and adjusted) drop compared to Ken's 2002 to 2003 drop. I'd be interested in seeing how they compare.

From: RPGuy96 | Posted: 5/28/2005 12:33:37 PM | Message Detail
I'm also tempted to think that the MGS villains, at least, dropped, due to Ocelot's rather pitiful standing. Plus, Liquid lacks the bracket support he had against Frog, which hurts him and not his four pack companions, but I still must pick Sora (or comparable) over both Frog and Master Chief, though they'd probably make for a much closer match.
---
If you go to him, he will destroy you. And your last moments will be of shadow and pain.
From: Tediz247 | Posted: 5/28/2005 12:33:56 PM | Message Detail
I say that this match is the Sephiroth/Alucard of this contest. Liquid is probably underperforming in a similar fashion, for no reason other than Sephiroth doing everything he can to screw up the stats.

I lack the data to pick in a Sora/Frog match. I'd rather not see either of them comeback to the contest anyway, so I'd rather not be bothered to think about it.

Sora will undoubtedly be back, as he has nobody to compete with for a spot. With the cap, I have doubts as to whether Frog will return.

And if he does, Ceej will probably rig a Frog/MC rematch anyway.

I definitely don't want to see Frog go for some weaker entry. I would much rather see Kefka get out of here.

Ken fell 3.97% on Link (with WDF), meaning in 2k3 he was reduced to 84.54% of the popularity he had in 2k2.

Liquid adjusted (32.10) against 2k4 Sephiroth (46.56) loses 8.45% on Link, meaning he's reduced to 73.68% of his adjusted 2k4 value.

Liquid unadjusted (29.57) against 2k4 Sephiroth (46.56) loses 5.92% on Link, meaning he's reduced to 79.98% on his unadjusted 2k4 value.

"I definitely don't want to see Frog go for some weaker entry."

Don't worry, his replacement will be a house, be it Aeris, Vincent, Serge or anyone else. As for booting Kefka, well, I don't want ihm here either, I want Terra instead. So that's that.

I'd rather see fresh Square blood. Frog had his time in the limelight. If there was no cap, I wouldn't mind him staying. As is, I'd rather he not return if it means keeping out new competition.

Nah, Tidus can stay. He needs a bracket placement where he doesn't get gypped, and I'd like to see what really happened in Mega Man/Tidus.

Besides, I'd take Tidus over Frog anyway.

And I've already made it abundantly clear that thinking he underperformed completely is absolutely ridiculous. Now, I certainly don't believe that his just dropped off completely like that, but I do believe he dropped by good bit.
