Obviously, Pyramid Head and Tenpenny are weaker than Giygas. But what of Ansem and CATS?

One of Giygas' values are if you extrapolate him through a constant Ganondorf, the other is if you extrapolate him through a constant CATS.

Just messed around with some numbers. I know this is way out in left field, but...

If we assume that 2004 Link actually is the same as 2003 Link and there was no 20XX Factor, Liquid drops to 26.92% on Link. Now here's what the results would project based on 2003 and 2004 Sephiroth:

2004 Seph - 71.09%

2003 Seph - 72.92%

And even THIS undershoots what Sephiroth's doing right now. Perhaps MGS characters took another dip.

With a Sephiroth victory over Bowser, this will be the third consecutive contest in which I get a perfect top half of a bracket, only to have the fourth division screw me royally. With a Diablo victory over Kefka, it will be the third consecutive time I have gotten the first three divisions perfect, only to have the last division screw me royally. So, to Starcraft, SSB:M, Tails, Sora and Master Hand... **** you.

Everything undershoots what Sephiroth is doing. No matter what you do, no adjustment can bring this there.

But if your theory is true, Snake could be in for a major upset this summer depending on who he faces.

Random fact: This is the easiest time anyone has ever had getting out of his division, beating out Link 2002, where Jill scored something like 27% on Link. Of course, this probably shouldn't count, as this contest is restricted to villains and Seph only had three matches to Link's four.

This isn't the biggest blowout in a division final, however: Link's whooping of Scorpion still takes the cake.

In similiar news, Sephy is going for the Tripler.

In the last topic, in the first few minutes when Sephiroth was only around 70-71% on Liquid, I went based on the assumption of a Frog overperformance on Solid Snake.

Just based on THAT number, Frog should've only gotten 45%. It'd be way lower than that now.

From: AmazingKirby | Posted: 5/28/2005 10:35:44 AM | Message Detail
Actually, allow me to be more exact. I'll give what Frog "should" have gotten on Snake based on 2003 and 2004 Sephiroth. Solid Snake is at 30.19% on 2003 Link with no 20XX adjustment, for the record and Frog is at 29.35%.

2003 Sephiroth - Liquid falls to 25.58% which puts Frog at 42.39% on Solid Snake, a 6% overperformance.

2004 Sephiroth - Liquid falls to 23.95% which puts Frog at 39.69% on Solid Snake, nearly a 10% overperformance.

This is rather unbelievable. Wow, Sephiroth, you're my hero. At this rate no matter how you adjust he should just flat out beat Cloud, maybe Link. We haven't had someone power out a scrub like this since... oh yeah, Samus. Eh, sometimes weird crap happens. We never found out why Lara dropped so much, either... maybe Liquid just dropped in strength a fair bit, you know, since Twin Snakes isn't fresh now like it was during the last contest. Poor Solid is in for a world of pain....

Actuially, Link beat Scorpion win his division in 2002, remember? Sephiroth will have to beat 75.98%. :P And I fear he might be able to do it, since MGS does best with the night/early morning vote, I think.

Oh, and to look on the reasonable side, this makes Lavos and Mother Brain fall into place better. It was hard to imagine them being so strong. Heh, and maybe Sin could end up ranking higher than Lavos, after all.

Still, I'm tempted to say that this is due to Sephiroth being weird. I can't resist the 20XX factor still. That or Sonic or Samus overperformed on their losses, and in a coincidental amount. I won't ever believe that Knuckles dropped in popularity, while Sonic or Tails did not.

Oh, and if Frog = Master Chief = LSnake is true (last year) and Sephiroth beats LSnake with 75%, that ranks Crash Bandicoot at 14.56%, which is a lot lower than what Crash ranked through KOS-MOS (17.5%) and about the same as Crash's WDF-adjusted SC2K2 value (14.5%). Think what you want with that.

Oh, and I'm about positive something happened with Frog/SSnake and/or Frog/LSnake at this point, but I don't want to think about that yet.

Yeah, at this point we can just chill and wait for the finals since it's just a few days away. Seph's next two matches will answer much more important questions than this one. I never expected this one to fully clear anything up, since even if Seph performed as expected there would be multiple factors speculated on, but I didn't expect it to make things worse...

Hopefully they can. So far, both of them have been looking really good in this Contest, while we started to notice that Liquid had lost his steam in his match against Lavos.

I swear, I think it's just a major under-performance today from Liquid. I'm also starting to that that he over-performed greatly on Frog, while the Chief didn't.

Basically what I'm saying is that everything was right except Liquid's overperformance on Frog, which means he really isn't as strong as Frog and MC.

Then again, if Chief/Frog were to happen again, I'd put Chief over Frog.

As Chichiri brought up, if you go with the 32.10% value for Liquid on 2k3 Link, you get Sephiroth at 63.19% on 2k3 Link , which is right around where Samus through Lara and Sam was in 2k4. I think that Samus was just a touch higher (64%, IIRC), though, so Samus > Sephiroth. ;)

Man, that's a tough one. Liquid's the original *****y clone with an inferiority complex, but Shadow is infinitely more omnipresent, and thus, annoying.

I think I'd root for whoever's in line the following round. To win a match he/she isn't even in, that's right.
