I think SSBM and WW are too close in strength for there to be SFF at all, much less significant SFF (see also: Wind Waker/Metroid Prime, Bowser/Yoshi, Yoshi/Luigi, Mega Man/Zero).

I figure the fanbase would be more evenly split the closer two are in strength, so SFF ceases to be a significant factor in such a match.

And yes RPGuy, my ultimate plan is to get everyone knowing for a fact that Magus is the strongest character in these contests. He threw the matches in 2003 and 2004 to give everyone else a fair chance. The true Magus would let no one break 15% on him.

Current Match Prediction -- Sephiroth vs. Liquid Snake
Spring 2005 Contest -- 35/36 points

Despite what the extrapolateds say, I would put Ocelot and Wily a lot further up in the standings. Also I think a matchup like Jill vs. Wesker or Jill vs. Nemesis would be irrelevant to the x-stats b/c it would very shifted by SFF like we saw in Mario/Bowser Link/Ganon etc....

IMHO I would say that an interesting matchup in the summer contest would be Ocelot vs. Dante. For Wily I would say a close matchup would be more against someone like Scorpion. Just an opinion, so please don't flame me all you x-stats fanboi's out there.

Liquid is getting flat out killed. I can't exactly see the day vote doing him any favors either.

The day vote definitely won't help him. Cloud and Sephiroth are generally pretty good with it and Liquid lost it to Lavos (and as we know, CT characters are generally pretty bad with it).
