Contest Stats and Discussion - Part 131

Yeah, I couldn't see a Goomba taking down Robotnik or MH. A goomba would be decently strong fodder, but not to that degree.

Considering that just about all a Goomba and Master Hand are drawing from are the popularity of their games, and you're hard-pressed to find a Mario game where there ISN'T a Goomba, I wouldn't be surprised if it beat the glove.

Pff, exposure the goomba's got in spades. But does anyone care? It's uber-generic...at least with the metroid there is at least an air of coolness surrounding them.

For those who think having your name in a game's title makes no difference, consider this: Would you put Baal over Diablo? Of course not. Baal has as big a role in DII:LoD as Diablo has in DII, but the big difference is his name isn't quite in the title. Yes, Baal is the Lord of Destruction, but the name of the expansion pack is NOT Diablo II: Baal or Diablo II: Baal: Lord of Destruction. The casual gamer, when he thinks about the title, does not immediately make the connection to Baal. Now, the one flaw with this example is that Diablo was around in the original Diablo game, with Baal nowhere to be found. Still, one's name being in the title DOES make a difference.

It does make a difference, but it doesn't make or break the character's strength either. As for Baal, I've never heard of him. I've never played D2 seriously, to be fair, but I understand Diablo's obviously the main focus of the game. Add to it he's apparently got some cool dialouge and was in both of his games, and you have my main reasoning for Diablo > Baal. THEN, we add on top of it that Diablo's the name of the series to seal the deal.

Depends on where Ken really stands and how much stronger M. Bison is than Ken...or how far away Albedo is from KOS-MOS. I'll take Bison with 52%.

Nope, Diablo is the Lord of Terror, Baal is the Lord of Destruction, and Mephisto is the Lord of Hatred.

As a note, Bison/Diablo here is less than 3,000 votes total away from being the highest vote-totaling match yet (thus far, it's Sephiroth/Ramirez), and there's still more than two hours left.

Oh yeah, by the way, the main reason Toad would do better than a Goomba is it's not a toad, it's the Toad. It's the same Toad in all of the games. Toad is the name of a toad. (I'm going off on this because Swirldude implied he was generic like a goomba)

He seems a pretty popular choice in most of the games he's in, too. Toad's got a fanbase out there, for sure.

I still have nightmares about trying to win the gold on Mirror Mode in the Flower Cup and repeatedly failing because I could not place in the top 4 on Toad's Turnpike.

...but no, heh. I've traded off MK:DD!! already so I don't remember much of it. I don't think any of the levels were actually bad though; I just think it was damned senseless to have that one cup where you had to go through AALLLL the tracks.

I'd vote for a metroid over everything in this contest. metroids are the most recognizable enemy in metroid, although recent games seem to want to phase them out for some stupid reason. plus they're just awesome.

I wonder how one of those armoured dudes in zelda would do? a draknut or something?

you guys can't be serious. robotnik has oober pic advantage in that one. robotnikmobile > n64 hand. seriously now, without the laser beams and dark background Master Hand has no chance to survive make its time. I would say that Robotnik will win this in a margin that would suggest that Sin is slightly stronger than Master Hand, although I believe Master Hand would win if it came to it in a scrap.

Against Kefka, HaRRicH said Wesker < 43%. I said Wesker > 43%...

And that Ganon has somewhat of a pic disadvantage that might keep him from breaking 80%.
