The scary thing about this is that Bison is still pulling in 160-170 votes per five minute update, which would normally be a very respectable number for a tight match at this point in the evening...it's just that Diablo's in the 220-230 range, which is what you'd expect up against a weak character.

*sigh* All I know is that Diablo's almost certainly going to walk away from today's poll with more votes than he had up against a (presumably) weaker Ridley...which would be highly irregular for a non-crooked poll.

Triforce Division: Round 2 - Match 23 – (1)Ganondorf vs. (4)Ansem

Moltar’s Analysis

Ganondorf - Last I checked, Ansem didn’t have a Master Sword.
Round 1 – vs. Giygas (Ganondorf: 84.98% - Giygas: 15.02%)

Ganondorf has the biggest blow-out of Round 1, completely destroying Giygas.

Ansem - CATS had his Wheaties that morning...DID YOU, ANSEM?!
Round 1 – vs. CATS (Ansem: 54.04% - CATS: 45.96%)

Well…Ansem turned out to be quite the failure here…

Really, CATS was beating Ansem at more than 1 point in the match, and not just at the beginning. When you let CATS get close to 46% on you, you know you suck. Ganondorf has no troubles here.

But wait, according to those 2004 stats, CATS was stronger than Ganondorf. Ansem is going to win! Oh noes! I’ll take a risk though and go with Ganondorf.

Moltar’s Bracket Says: Ganondorf will win

Moltar’s Prediction is: Ganondorf 80% - Ansem 20%

Ulti’s Analysis

Ganon vs Moron, Inc.

.....is there a point in putting anything in this section? Honestly, Moron, Inc. had to rely on the day vote to fight off CATS. CATS!!

Besides, Moron, Inc.'s Darkness <<<<<< Ganon's Darkness. Know your ****ing roots, fools.

Ganon with 81.34%

Soul’s Analysis

Another close match finished, means we need a blowout to even it out. Ganondorf is going to take this match, and after Kuja's horrible performance last round, expect him to get around 76.79%.

Outback’s Analysis

>_<

Hey, Ansem beat CATS, right? And CATS is above Ganon on the XStats, right? Ha, Ganon's going down!!!!

Ganondorf 79.69 Ansem 20.31

Inviso’s Analysis

Yeah, Ganondorf is gonna win this one. It’s pretty obvious. He scored the biggest blowout of round one, and he’s the second strongest villain on Gamefaqs, topped only by Sephiroth (don’t give me that Magus stuff, because anyone who joins your party in effect becomes a non-villain). Ansem is from a game that gets a huge amount of hate on this site, and he struggled with a joke character, CATS. I realize CATS has a huge fanbase (undeservingly), but come on, Ansem should’ve done better than that.

Ganondorf’s gonna move on after this match, and is the best hope of someone defeating Sephiroth. “It makes me wanna…wanna…volunteer at the soup kitchen. Come Ganny.”

My Prediction: Ganondorf with 76.95%

Okay, since the CSaD's excitement is waning at this time of day (though the casuals seem to be pumped up today) I wanted to talk about Summer nominations. I can never, ever fill in 10 spots with characters I genuinely wish to see in the contest. Just going by my ever shrinking list of characters I want to see in but havent made it I've got three: Geno, Vincent, Mai. The second group of characters I look to are ones that have gotten screwed somehow, and I feel a need to fix that injustice. This time they are: Aeris and Raiden.

Outside of that I would like you guys to help me come up with a suitable list. No naming characters that are guarenteed in, no naming characters that are guarenteed not to get in (Mai is the only character whom I nominate "on principle") and no naming characters that were in a contest in that last 12 months unless there is no relatively solid data backing them up (that means no Magus).

This isn't an offer to trade (though I'd be grateful if you kept any of my nominations in mind should you fall short of ten), its me asking you to tell me which newbies deserve a shot the most by likely being good performers (20%+) and which previous performers need to come back.

The current list, so far:
Vincent
Aeris
Mai
Raiden
Geno

Regardless of how scummy the Diablo community has always been, I can't see cheating here. We expected Diablo to be strong at this time of day from the beginning, and when Bison couldn't get a lead over 100 it was obvious that the ending result would look like htis. No reason to suspect cheating if he wasn't doing it last round.

It's precisely because we're dealing with two loyal fanbases that I find today's results to be a little odd: character vote totals are virtually guaranteed to drop in the later stages of a tournament because the competition gets fiercer, and people are more likely to care for both characters involved. The only exceptions we've generally seen to this are in matches that have had HUGE spikes in voting (greater than the 10,000 or so that this match will beat out Diablo's last one, anyway). The only way I see today's match not involving a fair amount of stuffing is if Diablo dragged in a good deal more outside support today than he got in his first match, which I'll admit is a possibility.

No reason to suspect cheating if he wasn't doing it last round.

To be fair, people wouldn't have bothered vote-stuffing in a match that was a runaway.

A higher percentage of the total votes up to hour 17:30 were in the first 7 hours for Kefka/Wesker than for Diablo/M. Bison, which is the opposite of what I expected (and I'd consider Monday and Tuesday to be comparable days)...after all, diabloii.net put up their Diablo/M. Bison advertisement at 7:00 AM. Vote stuffing in the early hours, perhaps? Meh, I'll wait until the poll ends...

Diddy Kong - He feels like fodder to me. With the exception of DKC2 in all of his appearances he's... well... second bannana.
Sub-Zero - I would much rather see Sub Zero than Scorpion. Heck, I might even vote for Sub-Zero but I can't see a situation where I'd vote for Scorp.
Peach - When talk of her began in 2k3 I was rather against the idea, nearly two years later I think I like her in a contest setting more than then (of course there were too many Mario characters that year, not to mention Nintendo characters in general)
Chun-Li - I'll almost definitely put in Chun-li. I was thinking about her before but forgot her when I made my list.
Ryu - Can't control the pic that Ceej uses, unfortunately.

What about Leon Kennedy? Post-RE4 he might be able to make some noise if he's seeded well (or seeded badly depending on how it unfolds). Plus, he's got the RE2 vote for the people who haven't played RE4.

I love Vivi, you'd be nuts to think otherwise, and I'd like to see him sans SFF but there are so many Square characters. If the cap doesn't get raised and ceej doesn't "retire" the champs I know that things will get ugly. It almost seems counter productive to nominate too many Square characters which is also why Serge wasn't on my list. Still up for consideration, maybe even to replace my "throw-away" Mai nomination (I think with the right circumstances she could honestly make it), just not a guarentee for either.

"Cookie if you tell me what it is actually from..."

The O-Zone song thats also known as Mai Ai Hii (sometimes hee) and is translated to be approximately "Love Under the Lime Tree"? Tis a great song, the first hundred times you hear it, but to my ears it doesn't strike me as being an ultimately dancable song, which is why it stands out so much on the dance music stations I listen to.

"May I put you on my nomination topic's list so it looks a bit less depressing? "

For whom? I mean, put me on there, since you've stated I'm noming them anyway, but which character is the list for?

"No need to be greedy. "

It wouldn't be greedy, I want to know which characters the memebers of this grand topic believe would be fine competitors in the summer. I'm looking for 9/10 or my nominations to make it and score 20% or higher, if I can. Past the list I made it's not really about who I like but who we think (meaning not just who I think, since that'd be a done deal of a list) would be good in the contest, period. Basically half my noms are my htoughts on who will rock in the contest (minus Mai), the other half is the general consensus of characters I've missed.

We'll kinda know how Master Hand stacks up in a contest though by how he does against Ganondorf. I would say Richter Belmont, but his ceiling is Alucard, so that's not very interesting. I do think that Toad could cause a stir, and maybe do better than Peach (definitely Wario). Maybe someone to consider next year after Peach gets in. (if she got in)

And Chichiri, I'm putting you on the infamous "list" unless you're opposed to it. Seems kinda silly to ask now that I think about it. The people must be informed of just how much support Raiden has. (Plus, like I said, 2 names are less depressing than 1)

I'd love to see a xenogears character (probably Fei), or Yuri from shadow hearts, but I imagine both of them would get massacred anyway due to being "cult". as mentioned earlier, Cecil would be interesting, and I'd love to see how the prince from katamari damacy did. that's all I can think of for now.

Morri - She's up for consideration. What with the rather decent (for a Darstalkers title) release on the PSP this is her best shot since ceej opened noms up to the front page. Unfortunately, I think it'd take another MvC2-level game for her to be as strong as she was in 2k2.

Strider - He grabbed a nom from me last year, I won't abandon him this year unless there is overwhelming support for other candidates. Too bad he hasn't had a new release lately. Can't say I see him making it, nor can I see him doing as well as 2k2... very saddening to me as I've been a fan of Strider since he first hit the 'cades.

Leon - Good solid pick, if I actually liked him personally he'd be on the list. I don't dislie him, though, and he has the whole world going for him (well, for a RE character, anyway) so he's got a fair shot unless 5 others can nudge him out.

As far as new contestants that should break 20%:
Leon Kennedy (RE2/4)
Arbiter (H2)
Kratos (GoW)
CJ (GTA:SA)
Kerrigan (SC:BW)
Naked Snake (MGS3:SE) -- If he counts
Lloyd Irving (ToS) -- Mithos did far better than expected

And that's really all the non-SquEnix/Nintendo stuff I can think of right now. I'd also like to see Ken, Aeris, Zelda, and Raiden return, as well as Terra/Celes, Serge, and the two obvious FFVII characters, but that's only happening if Cloud/Seph are retired.

Fei - Would love to see him, always liked Fei.... can't see him doing well though.
Yuri - He'd probably do worse
Cecil - So many squares, so little room.
Toad - Seems to me to be bottom of the barrel for Mario characters, not ready to back him yet.

Oh, and anyone that's known simply as the prince doesn't strike me as someone who is making the contest. With the exception of Servbot and Master Chief every character has had a name, and Master Chief is almost a name.
