First Diablo close to Bowser is crazy.
It is certainly something that can very well happen. Diablo isn't going to be a weakling by any means.

Mark my words:
M. Bison will wipe the floor with Diablo. I'm calling a minimum of 55%.
...Please?
The blood already rushed out of my face when I saw him beat Ridley. If he manages to squeak by Bison, I think I'm going to have a cardiac arrest.
Here's hoping that Ridley is a piece of crap, Albedo has a hint of strength, and that Mother Brain overperformed against Lavos. >_>

Regardless of what the rabid Metroid fanboys will tell you I'm still willing to bet that MB > RIdley so he may very well be crap.

Why do I get the feeling the only reason you think Diablo will be strong is that it makes Ridley strong in the process?

I can't speak on the issue. As someone who's never played a Metroid
game, I assumed Mother Brain was the main villain in the series.

I cannot see Ridley being anything below equal to Mother Brain.
And the loss of my chance at winning, doesn't have me trying to piece together things that would make Diablo weak. I think it is rather apparent that he's going to be strong; strong enough to take this division without any trouble and rank high in the process. He should be a legitimate Summer Contest entry and he could take out a lot of people in the process...

That's rather obvious. If I continue to assume that it wasn't Ridley's weakness, but Diablo's strength instead, there's nothing wrong with it. And once Diablo beat Ridley, I was merely attempting to claim that both were very weak in an effort to make the Bison pick look better. At this point, nothing in my bracket matters so I'm simply going with my initial thought from before the process: Ridley isn't going to be crap.

Sorry something in my logic meter is telling me that Diablo over Auron
and Sora does not compute. This isnt Starcraft and dont even pretend
that Diablo is as loved as Starcraft is. And the best example I can use
is these stats would make Diablo > Zelda which is an impossibilty in
my mind.

I've been thinking Mother Brain >= Ridley for the entire contest. Here's to it being true.
But... then again, I wouldn't take Mother Brain over Luigi either... something's awry with those "sequences of close matches". I wish Ganondorf and Magus had non SFF matches last year like Tidus did. I'm sure they would've had a noticeable drop as well.

I wouldn't take Ridley over Luigi either; Luigi is bound to be closer
to Mario than Ridley is to Samus, and I believe voters would side with
Luigi before they side with Ridley if there were to be any SFF in a
head-to-head match (which I doubt would occur, but just in case).

I'm assuming you're using 2004 stats. There's a good chance he falls in
between the 2 from 2003 but probably closer to Auron's side. A quarter
or even a little more does sounds about right.

Ridley over Luigi?
No way in hell. HM, you're letting your Metroid obsession get in the way of common sense.
Ridley is just a guy you fight periodically in the games, whose appearance is radically different throughout the series, and is only actually named in Prime and Zero Mission. This assures that almost anyone who isn't a big fan of the series won't recognize him.
Luigi is almost as well-known as Mario, the most famous video game character of all time. If you've heard of the Big M, you've heard of his brother. End of story.
Of course, I know this type of argument always leads to someone bringing up Pac-Man and Lara Croft, to which I say: they're in a slump. They haven't had a good game in ages. Luigi is not in a slump, seeing as how 95% of the Mario games are great, and they're released on a regular basis.

I still think Luigi > Ridley and have a hard time bitting on Diablo > Dante/Tidus, but the argument doesnt really work.

The only way I would feel compelled to side with Luigi is due to SFF favoring him over Ridley, which I could certainly see. But him being indirectly stronger, I have absolutely no problem with.
Luigi is almost as well-known as Mario, the most famous video game character of all time. If you've heard of the Big M, you've heard of his brother. End of story.
Yet there is a significant gap between Mario and Luigi despite the claim that Luigi is almost as well-known as Mario. In fact, Luigi would have plenty of trouble with the people around him like Vercetti, KOS-MOS, and Knuckles. All people that Mario would dispose of with ease. Luigi may be well-known, but that doesn't equate in strength, as you can see.

Tell me what the similarity between Squall, the star of one of the most popular games on the site, and Ridley, a recurring boss with no dialogue and is only named in two of his games and has his appearance changed with every game (and is in a semi-niche series to begin with), is, exactly.

Not exactly the same thing. Ridley's no Squall. Squall's the focal point of FF8. Ridley has around 15 minutes screen time combined throughout the series. I'll say it again, there are no villains in Metroid that can perform up to the "hero/villain" relationship with respect to Samus. They just don't get enough screen time.

Since Auron is almost certainly SFF'd by Sephiroth, we look for a way
to adjust his four-pack. Jak is new and Ness was SFF'd in 2k3, so
adjusting Auron by Scorpion 2k3 (or even Tails 2k4) boosts them up
noticably.

You are a fanboy of many things, Metroid being one. Frankly, it's far
too possible for Ridley to be weak. I know, I've heard you talk on end
about how he's really the main villain in the whole thing... but that's
not the general perception. Casual guy walks onto Gamefaqs and sees MB
he says "hmm, the final boss of metroid" he sees Ridley and he's "do I
know that guy, dragon, thing". I know I can't really convince you, but
as far as the casuals are concerned Ridley isn't the main villain,
period. He's a behind the scenes guy, and Ocelot has shown us that
being behind the scenes isn't going to get you as far, regardless of
what strings you may pull.

Actually Auron getting SFFd does sort of make sense stat wise. Scorpion
took a fall in 2k4 after being consistant to a T in 2k2/2k3. Also Ness
could of been SFFd by Bowser is 2k3. Only problem is I dont know if I
buy Auron being stronger than Squall.

Do you remember, an estimate, on where that put Ness? I seem to
remember agreeing a lot with the placement of those three after Auron's
SFF adjustment, whoever was the person to adjust it...

I love how you completely ignore the rest of my post. That was an unimportant fact, seeing as how it was in parantheses and all.
Besides, FFVIII is still much, much more popular than any of the Metroid games on this site. This cannot be debated.

Right now Wesker is a prime example of how being behind the scenes can
make you weak. Another great example from what I can tell is ansem,
although I've only heard he's behind the scenes, since I've never
actually played KH before.

I like Ridley more, but MB is the final boss of Metroid as far as I'm
concerned. As a casual fan of the Metroid series (though I think SM is
over-rated to hell), I think Ridley has no story worth noting about him
as well.

Ridley has had multiple appearances throughout the Metroid titles,
appearing in all but two, and is almost always the most talked about
boss fight after the games are completed. Hell, he's even the final
boss in the recent Metroid: Zero Mission. I certainly don't find it a
stretch that Ridley would be strong. Having dialogue, personality, or
anything like that is not required in having strength. And the Metroid
franchise at GameFAQs isn't one that is completely unknowning or
lacking in a fanbase. This is the one place where I would expect
Metroid to be most popular.

I'd like to add though that it wouldn't surprise me if Ridley = or >
MB. I just don't expect Diablo to be strong enough to nearly double
Bison, I still think he's going to win with a comfortable lead.

Besides, FFVIII is still much, much more popular than any of the Metroid games on this site. This cannot be debated.
Please, by all means, give me evidence that FF8 would beat every Metroid game. Because I do not believe that second.

Well who would you take FFVIII or FFX?
