Contest Stats and Discussion - Part 127

Nemesis... stronger... then Wesker. The next RE game better feature Wesker on the damn cover.

I had no idea you were talking about X-Stats.

And you're damn straight it better feature Wesker a whole hell of a lot more. He's the most worthy villain in this entire contest... granted not my favorite, he's probably 2nd to Albedo, but hot damn, he's responsible for everything RE.

I'm not terribly surprised Nemesis is stronger than Wily. I estimated Nemesis would be just short of 20% against Link while Wily would be around 18-19%. Well, I guess I simply overestimated Ultros a bit and underestimated Ocelot a whole lot prior to the contest. I also expected Nemesis to be slightly stronger than Wesker, but it might turn out he's quite a bit stronger than him.

Nice job Ocelot. I doubted you, but never gave up faith.
Nice contradiction. :P

I did underestimate Ocelot, but I still had full confidence in him taking out Wily, simply because I thought Ultros was complete and utter crap, in terms of popularity.

I'd like to see a bonus match of Nemesis vs. Wesker when this is all said and done with. Granted it will never happen, it'd just be cool.

I still think that Wily's one of the top three in this division, and no X-Stats are going to change my mind.

I was hoping this match would be closer, though.

Sure, Sephiroth's going to win the Spring Contest. But how will he fare in a real duel? Find out at www.rpgdl.com!

I'm sure Dr. Wily will receive the dayvote. Look at their Round 1 matches. Plus, Mega Man received the dayvote against Solid Snake. Ocelot will probably fall to 53-54%, which will push Dr.Wily just above Nemesis.

The whole idea between what happened between Link and Mega Man is that most people who like Mega Man happen to like Link better. People just HAVE to give every factor a name. I'd rather say that Mega Man has few hardcore fans to stand up to a popular Nintendo or Square character (outside of Seph/MM 2k2). He is liked and recognized enough to blow by MOST characters, but when you're talking about other popular gaming icons, the priority probably shifts. We'd have to see him against Sonic and Samus to see how that holds up. He does so well against Snake because Snake probably falls in the same category. Too bad Snake had to face Mega Man two years in a row so we have no idea how he'd fare against a Link or Cloud. My thoughts is that he'd crumble worse than Mega Man has....

Snake faced Crono back when he was at his very weakest, and by that I mean "couldn't even hang around Mario without thousands of cheated votes, at least according to CJayC". And he still lost by quite a bit, too.

So, this brings up something that had never been discussed so far, at least I think so: if there really were 3000 cheated votes for Crono against Mario, and CJayC only removed a few hundred, this makes Snake look that much worse. You could even say the Snake of 2002 was rather similar to the Snake of 2004; as you see, Snake did a LOT better against Knuckles in 2003 than any other time. That would also imply Aeris getting a much bigger KH boost than previously thought. This can also be pointed for Lara and Ryo somewhat falling between 2002 and 2003... though the DMC2 boost Dante had would become unbelievably big for such a slammed game.

Master Hand style would indicate that the one holding the lead was struggling to build it until the other just decided to blow by him for no apparent reason. That's obviously not the case here.

And don't worry, Wily fans. He's ahead of Nemesis's percentage now.

Oh, and by the numbers, should Nemesis > Wily, I'll be upset...but I am unconvinced of any SFF or rSFF in this four-pack; as far as I'm concerned, it's going to be one accurate four-pack.

For what it's worth guys, when comparing the total votes of individual characters in the first round...

FOUR WORST:
Giygas - 11,966
Pyramid Head - 12,606
Ramirez - 13,720
Officer Tenpenny - 15,285

FOUR BEST:
Sephiroth - 70,458
Ganondorf - 67,715
Bowser - 65,599
Liquid Snake - 59,138

...obviously, our four known power-houses are at the top of the list, and they put their opponents on the bottom hard. However, check out the fifth place one for each...

#5 worst) Albedo - 21,337
#5 best) M. Bison - 46,264

...I'm well-aware that this is anything but a great way to rank/judge characters, but it's worth pointing out.

For whatever reason, Sigma didn't get a link all day long against Bowser from Planet Gamecube, and thus far Dr. Wily doesn't have one against Revolver either. Consider Andross under-rated...just a bit; Ultros too, but much less 'cuz the link Wily got was lower on the front page and focused more on Sigma than Wily.

You know, this match does sort of help that baseless assumption I had way back when I said that Wily and Robotnik were likely joined at the hip in strength, and that both would either be weak or strong, and that my assumption is that they were both weak.

I didn't account for Sin and Kuja completely bombing, however. I'm rooting and voting for Master Hand against Robutt.

Ocelot/Nemesis - 43342
Wily/Ultros - 41638
Robotnik/Sin - 40438
Bowser/Sigma - 41695

Can't quite explain those low totals.

With all the surprises so far, I beg to differ.

Today's match however... can't disagree. Did you see the speed of this topic today?

I'm still hoping for a Disco Ball Eggman pic. That would absolutely pwn.

Funny how Sephiroth's the only FF villain that can perform decently. We're not fixed on Sin yet, but answers are coming soon.
