Sorry for the triple post... heh.

Revolver Ocelot
Nemesis 65.11%

Dr. Wily
Ultros 71.73%

That would indicate a small favor in the brackets for Wily would it not?

To wake up this morning and slowly scroll down the leaderboard to find all 16's until the 50 spot was extremely disheartening. It'll be a long shot if I could pull this off, but I'm still hoping 1 miss won't ruin me.

I just did that too. Sad indeed.

That would indicate a small favor in the brackets for Wily would it not?

Not if 50+% of Revolver's 65.11% took him to get to face Bowser...and really, it can be less and he still have the advantage; it just depends on how much of Wily's 71.73% supports him to get to Bowser.

I'm also enjoying seeing Sigma be beat pretty bad right now. From this very moment, it doesn't look like Sigma's far away from Tenpenny if you compare Bowser and Liquid.

The fact that almost 40% of people picked Master Hand in the first place says something in and of itself.

Most people on GameFAQs have absolutely no common sense. A hand, an inanimate object who sole purpose is to be a horribly easy boss fight at the end of the two SSB titles, caught the full force of the after school vote and beat arguably Square's best villain. Pathetic.

No, but they did have whatever sense it took to call the upset. =P I ought to try FF9 sometime if I ever get the chance, just so I can see what the fuss about Kuja is.

I don't mind upsets when the winner is deserving, and I stopped caring about my bracket after Sin lost. The point is that a glove beat Kuja. You'd be a little surprised if one of your favorite characters lost to Glove, too.

Very Harrich, it's pretty disturbing, that someone could predict the first round perfectly like that, and not know Seph is going to dominate the field. It makes me feel dirty.

On the other hand, I never really doubted my Hand pick, granted I never said, oh god it's over, MH will obviously be the clear winner, blah blah blah blah blah. I had Hand from day 1, and made other tweaks to my bracket after that, so that isn't why I kept MH there, I really felt like FF9 is an outcast in the FF world, and SSB/M's popularity would carry the Hand. I know game=/=character, but it is a major factor.

I know this idea has been thrown out there before, but I really hope this summer is a tag-team character contest. 16/1 seeds together 15/2... and so on. I just think it's the only we can hope to mix things up a little bit, and actually have a winner that's not predictable, while still having characters just about everyone would recognize. The problem arises though, that it may very well make it another 32 battle contest, with 64 characters, unless the field was opened to 128, in which case, I would never stop orgasming.

Heh. Pathetic. I went through 22 matches last summer with a perfect bracket.

And I can just O_O at today's results. Seph's not in any danger though... he'd actually be expected to double Bowser. But imagine if that contest really was for the purpose of banning Seph along with Link and Cloud (I hope to God not), and then Seph actually loses. Oh the hilarity. Wanna keep the champions? Vote Bowser and Ganondorf!

No, I'm saying the exact opposite. Luca was in a game that sold, by my own estimates, roughly fourteen copies. And how many copies did the RE series sell? And how close did Luca come to Wesker?

Yeah, popularity of a game has some effect, but its often horribly horribly random. Relying on SSBM's popularity paid off this time, but it was far from obvious no matter how you look at it.

I don't buy there being SFF today. Sigma let Andross keep up with him and win some updates, afterall. I think if Fox is about 21% on Link, he's lose to Bowser with about 36.36% before SFF comes into play. I can see Andross doing much worse than that, so I'm not surprised at Sigma today.

Okay, thank god that's your reasoning behind it, because it's actually logical. And that's not sarcasm.

I think what it is though, is that Wesker is never really an in your face character throughout the RE series. You really have to pay attention to all the games, and their plot lines, to really appreciate Wesker. The casual gamer is more than likely to not fully grasp that. So when you say "its often horribly horribly random" I don't think it is. If you analyze the characters role in that game, you can see who is, and isn't going to be wildly successful due to their game. Hell, look at Nemesis, his face is plastered on front of Resident Evil 3, it's the subtitle to the game, and that gawky bastard follows you around the entire game. I don't think anyone who is a diehard RE fan is going to say Nemesis is better than Wesker. But when it comes to the casual, you can be damn sure RE is helping out Nemesis a whole hell of a lot.

Mega Man's #1 in my book and I don't accept the idea it's SFF. Besides, should there be a lil' bit, Planet Mega Man will likely link to here by noon and help even that out. If not, Sigma over-performed against Andross. Imagine that.....

This contest has been full of big surprises so far. Granted, most of us are still 14/16, which is not too bad, but with many entrants fighting for their life when they were supposed to win easily (Ansem, Sigma among others), and of course two favorites to reach the Elite 8 already gone, that was a much, much better contest than last summer only based on what we've seen so far.

Nope. 6,000 in the US. After all, it was one of the last Saturn games released in the US, at a time where absolutely no one cared about the Saturn anymore.

Now mind you, seeing as how it's a very sought-after game, those 6,000 copies have likely changed hands a lot, and some people are sure to have imported the Japanese version. Add in pity votes during its match against Goldeneye and I can see how it got 18,000 votes.

-What was the first contest to have perfects left after the first round?
-Are last years oracle and guru topics still available?

Someone was perfect in SC2K4 until Cloud vs. Sephiroth...the, 58th match, I think.

What was the first contest to have perfects left after the first round?
SC2K2...one user named RPGExpert made it out of Round 1 perfect.

I can only answer the second question: the very first one in 2002, with RPGExpert. He lost the perfect when Duke lost to Alucard.

Random fact: Master Hand beating Eggman would be the biggest upset of all time according to the BOP - two brackets have MH winning that match, vs. three for Starcraft over Wind Waker/Metroid Prime.

Good luck, I bet you $100 you won't succeed. Master Hand will ***** slap Eggman. Kuja > Sin, and Master Hand beat Kuja better than Robotnik did Sin.....what more is there to say? It's clear Master Hand has the support of the SSBM fanbase, or the Nintendo fanbase, or both, on his side. No Sonic fanbase that barely gave Robotnik 51% against a "fin" will succeed. But..of course, you knew this already, right?

As a side-note, is anybody else a lil' surprised that we've just gone through a rough first round and yet there's still several picks that have somebody other than Sephiroth winning it all?

That's what happens when characters that people try to portray has a "joke" win. Um, at least, that's what I think happened.

A hand, an inanimate object who sole purpose is to be a horribly easy boss fight at the end of the two SSB titles, caught the full force of the after school vote and beat arguably Square's best villain. Pathetic.

I thought "best Square villian" award belonged to Sephiroth....I mean, at least he made it into a Summer Contest. (Or three, for that matter)

Also, about Master Hand...can someone please define for me what makes him an "inanimate object?!". He fires projectiles with his "hand gesture". He squeezes people. He ***-slaps people. He obviously has _some_ ****ing life in him. Yeah, he's the plumber's glove, then ten times bigger than it's normal size, and then some, but come on.....that's what makes him so bad-ass.

No, you won't bet $100, because that's not how you roll. Your style of play is more suited to making wrong predictions and shoving them down people's throats, kind of like you are doing right now. Then, after you're wrong, you go around marking people who point it out to you. You're not a tough guy, and no one in this topic will ever mistake you for one.
