heh, this is my favorite part from the diabloii.net link:

Diablo is the 7th seed, and you can vote for him right now (click to GameFAQs.com and scroll down a bit)against "Ridley," who I have been told is from the Metroid series

so, the guy who runs a site that big didn't even know where Ridley is from. amusing.

Amusing that you assume everybody has played metroid, or has played enough metroid to know who ridley is.

Now it's time to stop worrying about my bracket and just have fun.

i can't stand Ceej. he cant pick a match picture for his life. totally ruined a potentially awesome match. i wish he'd let us submit our own pics, like in SpC2k4. i instead of a tight match we get the "ooo... the guy on the right looks kewl!!!" and another dull match. i expected id be online a lot today. instead i pissed about my bracket, im pissed about one of my fave villains losing to a name on a game box, and im very pissed that this match is on par with watching grass grow.

Speaking of matchpictures, I forgive CjayC now. After seeing today's match pic and it's rumoured that he didn't delete any cheat votes on Samus VS Sonic because he wanted Samus to win (I'm not saying Sonic would have won), but now he picked a awful pic for Ridley. It's ok CjayC, nobody is perfect.

On the plus side, this makes me feel much better about Kerrigan's strength. I feel that loyalty to Kerrigan would be higher from Starcraft fans than it would be to diablo. Diablo may be in multiplayer as well, but he's A) Not playable and B)nowhere near the main focus of the game. Hell, Pindleskin likely gets significantly more airtime in games of Diablo2 than Diablo does.

Granted, Diablo may still be nothing but fodder, but I'd be satisfied with Kerrigan being strongish fodder. :)

Kerrigan would definitely be weaker than Diablo. The name of her game isn't "Sarah Kerrigan".

Hell, I'd have a difficult time putting her over Duke Nukem.

The name of the game isn't "Sarah Kerrigan", but the plotline of, well, half of Starcraft and most of Brood War IS Kerrigan, to the point may as well be called "Kerrigancraft". In a much more direct way than Diablo compares to his storyline.

Oh, and for anyone who bought the "face on cover argument" for Diablo, her face is the box. And the title screen. And plastered all over bnet ads as well, last I remember. The fact that she's recognizable on them as well isnt hurting her any.

Its been out for what, 8 years? Though multiplayer may not be the driving force of Starcraft's sales, at this point almost everyone who has any amount of starcraft under their belt will have at some time touched upon single player campaigns.

Plus, most people don't play Diablo Multiplayer to kill Diablo. The focus of the game is very far removed from actually killing him, even moreso now with the expansion.

Kerrigan would eat Duke Nukem.

Dear hardcore Ridley supporters:

I feel your pain. I know that you find it annoying to find yourself on the wrong side of a heated match. It's happened to me before, and I have absolutely no doubt that it will happen again (and again, and again... I'm not exactly the best bracketmaker, after all).

That does not give you the right to whine incessantly, any more than it gives some Diablo supporters to insult you beyond the good-natured ribbing that goes on with some people. Yes, you're disappointed. Yes, the better character (in your opinion) is losing to a character you could hardly care about. However, this is not the end of everything. Life goes on.

Some of you will complain about outside links, claiming that it is unfair, or that it is only because of this that Diablo is winning. To that, I have only one thing to say: Duh. It was no secret that there were going to be links on the major fansites for several characters. You were warned. Repeatedly. Ad nauseum. It stands as a testament to the popularity of a character that people will come to a site they normally wouldn't to vote for them. If the character wasn't popular, why would people go out of their way to support them? Besides, if they come to GameFAQs, they become GameFAQs visitors, and thus are part of the legitimate voting populace.

You could claim that it's unfair, and I wouldn't argue. But neither would I agree. This is a contentious issue, and I think it's fair to let everyone have their own opinion on it without judgement.

Others will complain that the picture has a major impact on this match, and it was rather unfair. I disagree. You know that Ridley picture, the one that people are complaining about? That's the Super Metroid one - THE ONE ON THE COVER OF THE GAME ITSELF. Is it faded? Yeah, kind of. But it is unquestionably the best-known picture of Ridley that could be presented. It's not like there are all that many official pictures of Ridley available, and believe me - I've checked. Besides, you know that Diablo picture? It's from a Warcraft III wallpaper. I doubt that half the Diablo voters have ever seen it before this week. There's enough blame to go around on both sides.

Should Ridley be winning? Maybe. I honestly don't care beyond my bracket. I'm just sick of the whining and complaining. Take the moral high ground, Ridley fans. Please.

Dear hardcore Diablo fans:

Yes, you won. We get it. Now, please don't get too cocky. You have a right to celebrate, but don't take it too far, please.

People are still using that same argument about Kerrigan not being a focal point of Starcraft???? So like I've said before, that would cause Starcraft fans to vote AGAINST her? Isn't it obvious from today's match that isn't the case?

The 57% I called for Diablo last night is looking pretty good. I'm hoping that this 7/2 upset can carry just a fraction of the Starcraft Cinderella mystique. When you're trying to win the division, every little bit helps.
