There's no way I'm buying that Albedo is that
much weaker than Mithos. Bison's got this divison wrapped up if he
keeps this %age... barring Ridley/Diablo being strangely strong. (which
I'm really doubting)

Assuming the percent stay the same, I don't see Albedo being on
Ratchet's level. Either Albedo will get some ground back, or M. Bison
> Ken 2k3...or I'll be wrong.

No, I meant Sub-Zero. He's more popular than Scorpion is, IMO.
And I'm aware that Ken is lower than Scorpion. I'm also aware that in a direct match, Scorpion would get flattened, thus my opinion on where Ken and Sub-Zero would be. It's one of those things that the Xts don't explain, but you sort of know is true. Street Fighter diehards will vote anything over a Mortal Kombat character, especially one of their own.
Even if Ken is off, this is Albedo sucking, Bison isn't on the level of R/K/C/A, etc etc etc. I'm not worried about Kefka yet.

I'd buy it. You at least hear the name "Mithos" within the first 96 hours of TOS's story.

Well, we really can't estimate Sub-Zero's position in the stats. I
would expect him to be stronger than Scorpion, but maybe he's not.

I'm still not exactly sold on M. Bison being weaker than Akuma, either.
Unlike Akuma, he's in the first three games. I'm betting that quite a bit of Ryu's contest goodness comes from those three games.
I'd also debate Chun Li... but I don't really have an argument for that so I'll just let that one stand.

I'd say Bison was between 22%-27%.
I think Bison would be the safe pick in Bison vs. Kefka, though I wouldn't give him too much of an edge.

Guys, Bison is beating up on a complete bum. This is like picking him
to win the contest after watching him own Dan Hikibi or something.
Kefka is still in pretty good shape.
Now if Bison takes Diablo or Ridley and pastes 65% on one of their asses, then yeah, I'll think he has the advantage. But I could live with Bison beating Kefka, because he's one of my favorite SF characters (along with Ryu, Ken, Akuma, Chin-Li, and Sagat).
GOD, I would have loved seeing Sagat in this contest.

Anyways, I'm hoping this is more of Albedo sucking than Bison being horribly strong.
I'm off for a weekend of poker now. I should be back just in time to witness CATS break my perfect bracket (unless I can grab access to someone's computer for 10 minutes), and gloat after Ridley's victory in a rather quite late fashion. I can see it now:

Actually my bottom for Bison there is too high. He should be at least 20% though (on 2K4 Link).
I dunno, man. Most of this site is of the age when they started playing games during Akuma's initial splash into the series. He is huge, I assure you.
New school tends to be greater than old school around here, as would seem evidenced by the strength of Division 128.
However, while I think Akuma would be a force, I don't see how anyone can be all that confident in him being stronger than Bison. (even before this match took place)

Ahhh, amazing how I never knew that. How many SF2 characters deserve to
be in the field of 64 though? 3 would be overkill for a game that can't
even beat SMRPG... maybe Ken should be subbed out in favor of Chun-Li

I know M. Bison's not on Ryu's level, but I thought it'd still be worth
pointing out, especially since it's not like Ken 2k2 was miles away
from Ryu. Plus, we don't know yet if this'll go the way of Ryu/KOS-MOS
or SMRPG/SF2 yet.

One case that could be made for Bison is, he gets heavy exposure
regardless of who your favorite character is. Unless you use Chun Li,
she's not important to the story of the game. However, the final boss
will always be M. Bison (or rarely Akuma).
There's always the Hero > Villain > support rule of thumb we have too... heh heh.
I just have a gut feeling that Ryu > Ken = M. Bison > Chun Li = Akuma > Most of the original SF cast/Dan > the rest.

I completely disagree with the notion that Akuma would be stronger than
Bison. Street Fighter was at its biggest back around 1994 in its
original incarnation or two, and likely gets the bulk of its GameFAQs
popularity from there. (There's a reason the original Street Fighter II
was the one in the Spring Contest, and not a later incarnation. Also a
reason we've never seen a non-original 12 SF character in these
contests.) I see absolutely no reason to view Akuma, who was absent
from a big page of SF history, to be stronger than Bison.
The logic that would put Akuma above Bison is the same logic that would put Zero above Mega Man. Sure, the newer character is "cooler", but just can't claim the same level of support and recognition.
Also, given that I can't really see Albedo being as weak as the likes of Sly Cooper (while he is certainly weaker than KOS-MOS, it feels unintuitive for it to be by that magnitude to me), Bison is looking really good in this division right now. We'll see how the day vote treats him, I guess.

But do you disagree that new school generally outnumbers old school appeal on this site?
When it comes to fighting games? Absolutely. They were at their biggest a decade ago, with gamers in general. Street Fighter 2 and Mortal Kombat games penetrated the general gaming consciousness to a degree that modern fighting games can only dream of, SSB series aside.
Fighters might have reached their highest quality on the Dreamcast, but most people won't care, since GameFAQs is not, generally, a home to hardcore fighting gamers.
