The Ridley/Diablo pic is horrible.

Diablo looks like fanart.

And there's a red smear on the pic where Ridley should be.

Ridley really needed a good pic to win this match...at least you can tell what Diablo is supposed to be.

I still don't see why people think the popularity of Diablo the game will carry over to Diablo the boss.

My confidence in Ridley has been regained after the harsh blow that was dealt from that bad pic.

I expect Diablo to be stronger than Duke Nukem and probably just barekly stronger than Kefka, while I think Ridley will be just a lil' stronger than that. I don't know where to put M. Bison in on this yet.....

Since vote totals are a such a perfect indication of strength, looks like Bison might not be so strong after all.

And ten minutes later, Albedo's got another .11% added on. If Albedo somehow kept this goin', he could prevent the doubling...but that's oh-so unlikely, and I deem it impossible.

What? Don't even try to say that Bison's vote totals are showing that he isn't as strong as the performance is indicating. All of the other matches feature characters who are closer together in strength and aren't complete fodder. Right now, you have a popular Bison against someone who's likely to be the equivalent of Luca Blight. That doesn't exactly say the match will have ridiculous vote totals, especially in comparison to something like Ocelot/Nemesis. Both may be lesser than Bison, but both are stronger than Albedo creating a match of greater interest.

I'm predicting that Bison should manage over 70% once this little out of school vote ends and the night time kicks in. From what I understand, Bison did very well during the night.

And I would take Bison over both Ocelot and Wily.

HM, that was mainly a dig at how Nemmy must be stronger than Wesker, because his match got more votes. Nice examples, though. Proves my point pretty well.

It's still really pathetic that Wesker couldn't manage 2000 more votes than Nemesis in his match despite having 15% more of the vote.

Actually, it wouldn't. If Nemesis WAS weaker than Wesker, that means that Ocelot isn't much stronger than Wesker himself, if at all. Despite that, his match STILL got 17,000 more votes.

Well, the reason HM laid out for Bison being strong despite low vote totals is because he's facing someone probably equivalent to Luca Blight. Replace "someone probably equivalent to Luca Blight" with "Luca Blight," and "Bison" with "Wesker," and you have a reason for Wesker's low vote totals and no reason why Nemmy should be stronger than Wesker.

And yet that would mean Ocelot and Nemesis should have drawn similar vote totals, by that logic.

Which is why vote totals logic doesn't work, and vote totals don't indicate strength.

Vote totals indicate interest. If people don't care about them, the chances of them being strong aren't that great.

Sephiroth is by far the strongest character in this contest. Is there a match thus far that's even close to rivaling his? Heck, his vote total alone outdoes the TOTAL of some matches.

Squall/Luigi had a very similar vote total to Sephiroth/Mario, with similar percentages, and Squall/Luigi was a few rounds earlier to boot. Surely this means that Squall is as strong as Sephiroth and Luigi is as strong as Mario.

No, it just means that people care enough about these characters to vote for them.

It was kinda obvious from last night's match that most people either don't know or don't care about Wesker or Luca Blight. We already knew that about Luca coming into this one.

Hmm. Magus/Sam Fisher had low vote totals. I conclude that nobody cares about Magus or Sam Fisher, and that Magus stands no chance against Ganondorf in the next round, who's match drew in 20k more votes.

No, people just absolutely do not care about Sam Fisher or Luca Blight, which is part of the reason Magus has two of the worst vote totals in 2003 and 2004. People care about Tidus AND they care about Ganondorf, not just one or the other.

RPGuy, a poll with two good draws (Magus vs Ganon) will always draw more votes than a poll with only one good draw (Magus vs Sam Fisher). Those examples are pretty bad.

Then the reason that Wesker had low vote totals is not because he's weak, it's because no one cares about Luca Blight. Against a decent opponent he obviously would have gotten a comparable amount of votes as Ocelot/Nemmy, thus, there's no reason that Nemmy > Wesker.

Also note that Sam Fisher/Gordon Freeman had one of the lowest vote totals of 2004, and his match against Samus did pretty poorly, too.

That's his point. A match with one strong character and one weak character will always draw less votes than two characters who are closer together in strength.

If more people cared about Wesker than Nemesis, he should've done better than less than 2000 extra votes.

Which is true. But if Nemesis is weaker than Wesker, then that means he and Ocelot are obviously very weak themselves, and thus nobody should care about them. They shouldn't do 17,000 votes better.

Really? If vote totals are all that matters, and he got more votes, what's the problem? That Luca didn't get as many votes as Ocelot? We've already established that no one cares about Luca, so, clearly, it was Luca dragging the vote total down and not Wesker. He got more votes than Nemmy; he must be stronger.
