Contest Stats and Discussion - Part 120

You're gettin' beat more frequently than a red-headed stepchild tonight, HaRRicH.

And it's official: Wesker has no chance.

Wesker will clean up with the day vote, but I doubt it'll be enough to take Kefka. Delicious.

I would expect Wesker to get the day vote, but not by much. Both these guys seem more like board favorites.

And there's still the chance Luca was very underestimated by the straight up rankings. Though, Wesker's gotta get this to the 60's at least. Otherwise it would be too much of a stretch to think Luca suffered that much SFF.

Certainly underwhelming by Wesker so far.

Yeah man, I know; even the red-headed stepchilds have been allowed to call me names.

Wesker better get his **** straight real quick though, or else he's nothing short of doomed against Kefka. I wouldn't wanna be known as the character that allowed Luca to have a chance.

BTW, the average Oracle pick for this match was around 65%.

Tomorrow the average pick is Bison with something like 56%. I expect Bison to beat expectations tomorrow.

Wesker's percentage is dropping like a rock... and the vote gap hadn't even reached 100 yet. Premature, but this might be the first close one of the contest.

Score-Brackets-% Right
8------3491-----96.4193641
7------6468-----93.3055040
6------7174-----89.6292166
5------4845-----83.6945304
4------1993-----75.7150025
3------549------69.3989071
2------98-------40.8163265
1------54-------9.2592593
0------76-------0.0000000

The difference between the top performs and the midcarders continues to widen. The 0's finally get things just right and score a perfect performance. Once again nobody fell off the Top 50. Still a few favorites brackets up there though. If they got this far by picking top seeds, they won't last through the next battle.

This would be a good time to reiterate my earlier proposition that Nemesis is stronger than Wesker.

Many RE people said there was no way Nemesis>Wesker, but I think that gamed named after him factor+ugly monster factor>obscure villainness.

I think Wesker suffers from Ocelot syndrome, where devout fans may think he is the main villain through out the series, but everyone else just thinks of Nemesis.

Of course, I don't know what I am talking about, as I thought the creature from RE1 was the same thing as Nemesis.

Uh... yeah...

I've never played the games, but there may very well be nothing unusual about this belief.

In any case, Nemesis probably represents other RE boss monsters on some level.

I'm driving back to Miami on Friday, so I'll be there for the Diablo/Ridley match. I'm not worried about Bison/Albedo. Question though. I've been at my apartment all year, and I registered my prize through my apartment. If I log on at my parent's house in Miami, where my little brother has an active bracket, would that disqualify me for prizes??

I would think so... I mean, I made my roommate create his bracket at his girlfriend's place to ensure we wouldn't get shafted if two brackets via one router = DQ'd...

And yeah, I said I was goin' to bed, but I wanna see if PSO:BB if back up sometime soon... stupid beta testing.

Question sparked by Leonhart in another topic: stronger in a contest setting... Luca Blight or Viktor/Flik?

From: Team Rocket Elite | Posted: 5/12/2005 12:35:23 AM | Message Detail
If both you and your brother have a "for prizes" bracket, you could get disqualified if you both login from the same computer. It would depend on how closely CJayC examines your login patterns.

Assuming Wesker increases his lead throughout the day, this isn't bad at all. I am assuming Luca > Mithos by quite a bit. But man, Wesker let me down a lot tonight, I thought he'd be close to Jill.
From: Heroic Viktor | Posted: 5/12/2005 12:39:47 AM | Message Detail
Well, Viktor and Flik play the largest roles in Suikoden I and Suikoden II from a 'hero' standpoint. I would think the sheer fact that they play integral roles in both games would make them more recognizable than Luca Blight, just that Luca gets nominations from the site for being the total badass that he is.

Damn, that sucks. I'm sure there has to be an exception. My bracket is registered for my apartment. I doubt that it would count if two brackets are registered at different addresses. I mean, now that I think about it, it wouldn't make any sense for me to be disqualified. What about those that log in to public computers? I'm sure as long as the brackets are registered under different addresses, it's fine... I hope....

It is very disturbing to think that one of these eight villains has to come out of the ruin division, because while I love both Kefka and M. Bison, in this setting, none of them deserve it. Flip Wily with Liquid, and then Liquid with Kefka, and you get a deserving final four rep. with Liquid, in addition to a show down with Ganondorf. You will also get sprite Kefka vs. Bowser, which may not be a complete bashing. And then you get to see Dr. Wily/Lavos, which before the contest, I am sure would have been a real thought provoker.

"A single entry is allowed per person/household. Multiple entries from the same person or household under different names will be invalid. If you share an Internet connection with others, this will be regarded as coming from the same household."

My interpretation of this is you can not have two accounts with "for prizes" brackets share an internet connection even if you have different addresses.
