A board favorite enters a Contest for the first time with a 5 seed.

And after a Sephy match, we go back to the good stuff. Vergil vs. Ghaleon…let’s get this started.

Vergil is from Devil May Cry 3, which was released not too long ago for the PS2. Now I haven’t played it yet, but from what I hear, it’s as good as the first DMC, and way better than DMC2. Ghaleon is from the cult RPG series, Lunar. Now, I honestly have no clue how big Lunar is on GameFAQs, but I do know Ghaleon is well-liked on our boards. With much board support, Ghaleon got into the Contest. Vergil mostly got in from outside support.

On Vergil’s side, he has Dante to look at. You know, Dante who scores a 4 seed every Contest and ranks around 20th each time? Vergil is following in his footsteps, earning himself a 4 seed here. He wouldn’t want to rank around 20th here though… Ghaleon is the first Lunar representative in a GameFAQs Contest, so this turns out to be interesting…

So, a safe bet for this match is to go with Vergil. We know how strong Dante is, and we also know DMC3 is somewhat big at GameFAQs. The risky path is going with Ghaleon. He's the first Lunar character to ever enter a GameFAQs Contest and the Lunar fans are a quiet crew. I took the safe path in this match and stuck with the V-man.

Hmm…the more and more I think about it now, the more I think Vergil will win by. I originally had this match at 53-47, but after some thought and Ghaleon’s match picture, I have increased Vergil’s margin significantly.

As debated as this match is, it's an easy match to pick. The only reason anyone may go with Ghaleon is due to not knowing who Vergil is. For the unaware, Vergil is Dante's brother and a villain in Devil May Cry 3. DMC is far, far more mainstream than the cultish Lunar:SSSC, and this match will be a good indication of such.

Soul’s Analysis

Lunar is considered a cult series on GameFAQs. Ghaleon is also considered cult. I don’t expect Ghaleon to win this match at all. Vergil is too kick-ass for that to happen. For those of you who do not know, Vergil is from Devil May Cry 3. He is Dante’s twin brother. He is a half demon alongside his brother. Come on, that’s got to amount to something. Vergil with a comfortable win with 59%.

When I signed up for this, I sorta expected to know some of the villains in this contest

Just call me the uneducated gamer. Seriously. I don't even know why I bother anymore. Needless to say, I don't know either of these characters. From what I hear, Vergil's from DMC 3, and I've known that Ghaleon's from Lunar for a while, I just haven't had the chance to play the series.

Anyway, I interviewed some people (read: 2 people) at my school (G-E-T High) to see what the people thought.

Person 1: Vergil rocks! Who the **** is Ghaleon?
Person 2: Vergil Rocks! He can beat Sephiroth

Thanks to these stunning revelations, I'll pick Vergil.

Inviso’s Analysis

Vergil is a one time character from a recent game Devil May Cry 3. As we all know, DMC characters are notorious for getting 4 seeds in every character contest. Ghaleon is a main villain from the Lunar series, and if I’ve been informed correctly, he’s in most, if not all of the games.

Now, as much as the board would like to believe, Ghaleon is not a strong villain. Lunar is a relative unknown to anyone higher than Lunar fanboys. Devil May Cry, again, always gets a 4 seed, and manages to push Dante through at least one round each time. This is not to say Vergil will be strong. Dante isn’t exactly a powerhouse. But Vergil will easily be able to beat Ghaleon.

My prediction: Vergil with 63.79%
