ya know, there is one more thing i realized about Nemesis that i completely forgot about. Tyrant/Mr.X from Resident Evil 2 is basically the same character as Nemesis. they are both creations from Umbrella who mindlessly chase you down in the game. they also look pretty dang similar, too. and the Tyrant was one of the coolest enemies from Resident Evil 2; with his busting through ceilings and smashing through walls to scare the bejeesus out of you.

i think the only real difference between the Tyrant and Nemesis is that Nemesis is just a more advanced version of the Tyrant. even though Nemesis and Tyrant are technically different characters, they could easily be mistaken as the same character. i'd be willing to bet that has also added to Nemesis's strength, because he does kinda have Resident Evil 3 AND Resident Evil 2 to draw from.

I don't really see why she would've been considered a fluke to begin with. Just because her strength "doesn't make logical sense", doesn't mean that it's not real. Data is more powerful than logic sans data.

I should have clarified; people hardly looked into it since then, as if it was a fluke. A true fluke is Mario/Cloud or MC/Felix, but people still haven't thought much about Tidus/Claire since then.

2) Jill might be much stronger now than last year.

While I wouldn't say much stronger, there's a decent chance RE4 resurged the RE love and made Jill gain a lil'.

There is a possibility that Resident Evil 4 gave the entire series a boost.

Good job DomaDragoon. I agree it could have happened.

I personally think that Ocelot shouldn't be counted out just yet, I mean look at what SSBM did last year, it didn't get over 60% on any game, yet it made it to the Final Four.

Few games would have gotten through that same road SSBM had, keep that in mind; MGS2, GTA:VC, FFX, and/or SC can't be compared to Nemesis and Wily since we know which road is easier. Again, Leonhart backs me up here.

3) Substitute Wily in for Bowser.

Comments: We continue this tourney with the first heartbreaker match in the tourney. I say that because I am assuming that few tears were shed when Pyramid Head, Andross, and Nemesis were ousted from the field of 32. But this match, with 2 truly evil ones going at it who come from very adored games, well, even yours truly will get a little somber come tomorrow night...

As anyone who knows the Illuminated one knows, FFVI is, was, and forever shall be my favorite game. Even more than the Mortal Kombat series I adore...even more than the Mega Man classics...even more than Punky Skunk... I did not nominate the first true Squaresoft EA Enix joke boss, that being the 8 tentacled one, but seeing him made me smile...til I saw his opponent...my leading nomination for villianous glory, the 8 bit maniacal Dr. Wily...

Ah Dr. W...who of you who dares call themselves a gamer could not possibly like this nut? Answer me now u noobs! *the room is quiet* Good. I expected nary a reply. I say this because this guy, invented in 1987 by fledgling NES developer Capcom, was the first baddie with a personality...not an easy thing to do in those days of 8 bit programming!

I can hear the fanboys now...what about Bowser? what about Ganon? what about Pinky? HAHA! These baddies did not really evolve til later games in their series after 1987. But Dr. W...he had the raising of the eyebrows and the frilled up hair way back when Bomb Man and Elec Man were 'creative boss names'.

Back to the match...yep I am rooting for Dr. W, no question. Though I am a tourney realist...and feel he wont make it past Ocelot due to the ever mad metal gear fanboys and my bracket says so...part of me hopes he makes it to the finals with Kefka...the way it should be...if not for that meddling Sephy getting in the way...

Dr. W and Ultros will be scary close, but very entertaining and with a high vote count. The FF fanboys vs everyone else...but hey, Dr. W has been around longer than everyone in this tourney except Bowser and Ganon. That alone ensures him victory tomorrow, and possibly beyond that. Enough said. So all you extrapolated nerds can put your formulas away now...and heed the words of the 'Sage of Board 8', that being me, giving myself a new title that reflects my Earthen age of 27...ancient compared to the kiddies and noobs here :)

Editor's Note: Go Dr. W! How bad Sigma did means nothing to you! How many votes Kefka got against Crono 2 yrs ago means nothing either! The day of the week, the picture...nothing matters! Its all you, W! :)

y'know, all of this talk about Ultros has gotten me thinking about that upset poll from Monday that he was in. it's not the results of the poll that bother me, it's trying to figure out why Ceej picked those five lower-seeded characters. if it was just CATS, Ultros, and Master Hand, you could argue that Ceej wanted us to pick which joke character we wanted to win. but, it couldn't have been a joke character poll because Bison and Tenpenny hardly count as joke characters.

now, it seems that Ceej might have used CATS, Ultros, Hand, Bison, and Tenpenny because they were the five lower seeded characters with the most brackets picking them to win. but if that's the case, then why wasn't Andross in that poll? does anyone think it's possible that all of those characters actually have more than 42% of the brackets in their favor? i think thatBison definitely has more than 42% of the brackets and i could see Tenpenny with that much casual bracket support, too. but Master Hand, CATS, and Ultros with more upset potential? i dunno, maybe he threw CATS in just to be funny. but what about Hand and Ultros? they both could very well have more brackets behind them than Andross. i won't be surprised if Ultros actually does have 50% of the brackets.

even more reason to think Ultros will put up a fight.

Well if it means anything, at least you know who Ultros is right off the bat by looking at his pic, unlike Kefka. However, it doesn't matter since people would never be voting for Kefka off of his looks in the first place.... He doesn't have the same "oh, the guy from FFVII" factor that Sephiroth would have. If you like Kefka, you really have to have played FFVI...

Kefka did have a decent bracket advantage over Knux last summer, and Mega Man characters are generally underestimated by the average bracket maker. If Ultros was the bracket favorite, I wouldn't be shocked.

Final Fantasy V is my least favorite in the series, too, from the ones I've played. It's not that I don't like it, but I just don't feel it's as good as the rest.

Still, "Battle with Gilgamesh" owns your soul.

and he's only about 3200 behind Sigma's final total. i definitely would not have picked Nemesis over Sigma before the contest started, but i really think Nemesis is stronger than Sigma now. Nemesis almost got the same number of votes against what appears to be a stronger opponent.

You know, Final Fantasy used to be my favorite series and then the last few years I started just focusing on the bad games in the series.

Ive come to realize that I should appreciate the series for the great games it produced, FF IV, FFVI, and FFVII in particular even though FFI, FFIIIj, and FFIX were pretty good games as well.

Mm, I think it might be more of the opposite. I think Sin would be much more favored to pull off the R1 upset than Ultros. I think CJayC just kinda chose 5 characters that had a decent number of brackets going for the upset, but not little or too many. I also think Andross was more favored to win than every one of those other characters, bar possibly M. Bison.
