I won't say anything until you complete the game

You'd better not. I've had enough of the story spoiled, thanks to CJayC and Leonhart4.

You may not have a problem with her, but I think she's absolutely horrible. And skipping past what she said doesn't suddenly make her character any better.

Yeah, Colette's backstory is on par with your average member of the Cobra Unit. What you see with her is what you get, and she doesn't have much of a reason to be the Chosen other than the fact that it was forced upon her. The only real hint you get with her lineage are distant hints at a few dead relatives, which isn't a backstory; it's laziness on the part of the developers, because they totally dropped the ball when designing her. She's little more than bumbling idiot.

Which makes her the perfect match for Lloyd, oddly enough.

Yeah, it's sorta irritating that the game gives you all of these scenarios that you could have with your "soul mate," and yet makes it difficult to get any of them with anybody other than Colette.

Great, Heroic Mario has decided that he's going to love Chrono Cross after playing it for 10 minutes. Just what we needed.

Seriously, you're better off downloading the soundtrack (the only good thing about that game) and leaving everything else alone.

Chrono Cross = Final Fantasy VIII

Great start and tons of potential. Then it all gets mired down in characters I either dont care or dislike, a battle system that is just awful, and a storyline is that is so confusing in logic (just because you explain why something makes sense, doesnt mean it makes anymore sense) and bad in storytelling that its depressing.

I think I dislike Chrono Cross more just because of what it did to the CT timeline.

Who cares about the backstory? I'm interested in the matters at hand, not where the heroes came from. Besides, Lloyd has a much more interesting and deep backstory, yet he's much more annoying than Colette.

Well, I didn't say I'm going to love it. I just said that the odds were in its favor of me liking it after loving CT and RD.

No one from that game is more annoying than Colette. No one. And Zelos has the best background and personality in that game.

HM, I LOVE CT. One of my top 5 games ever. Love it, Love it, Love it.

Chrono Cross I consider the worst RPG ever made. Dont let love of one or two games earlier in the series overcome the reality of that game.

CC was released with FF9, more or less.

Chrono Cross proves that no matter how good your graphics and music are, you must have good gameplay to be a good game.

I wonder if FFIX was actually made by Square, sometimes. It seemed to go againist the trend of the entire company as almost every game Square released was the anti-FFIX.

Well, the game is entirely text-based, but great nonetheless. It's on the SNES for those who want to obtain it through emulation.

FF8 had a great battle system, but it's story really did suck.

HM, unless Colette does something really stupid later on (Don't tell me; I'll find out for myself), I'm going to have to disagree. Unlike Lloyd, who thinks gravity is a big word, Colette isn't stupid. She's just naive and a little clumsy. Lloyd turns jumping to conclusions into an artform.

So far, the "most incredible ToS moment" would be when Raine gave Sweet Chin Music to Lloyd.

Maybe, I need to explain myself. Even with Square games I liked like FFVII and Vagrant Story, it always seemed the production value was the most important aspect. FFIX was almost in complete opposition of that trend. It had great graphics and sound, but it almost seemed like that was never the focus like it was with other games.

Also, FFVIII had one of the most broken battle systems ever. You could have invicible characters halfway through the game without going through much extensive leveling up.

If we're judging battle systems by how easy they made the game, then FF7 would be the worst one ever. That game was slightly easier than Big Rigs. It got to a point where you literally could not lose.

Eh, there is a slight difference. FFVII atleast you had to discover the combos. FFVIII you just had to draw spells from two islands and optimize your stats. Full-Life to Health, Ultima to Attack, and I forget what to Defense and you are pretty much unbeatable. And the computer does it all for you.

FFVIII was Square's attempt to go away from the "traditional" RPG system, with them taking away traditional leveling up and replacing it with junctioning. Also took away shops, and took away monsters dropping money. They wanted it to be the anti-RPG I guess. Didn't turn out as well as they would have liked though. FFX was their answer for it though.

Final Fantasy 9 kicks all sorts of ass. The only flaw I can point out is the battle lag.

Not actual lag or load times, but the fact that it takes forever to get a turn. Meanwhile, the tougher enemies are wailing away on you FF4 Hard Type style. As for the characters, story, music and graphics, I loved them all. It wasn't meant to be taken as an overly serious title, but it does the job when it needs to. And Kuja is the best villain in the series, bar none.

If I had to guess, I'd say that Ocelot would beat Wily with about 51-52% of the vote in a straight up match. However, board votes and planet-megaman may throw a wrench into it.

I love matches where you have no damned idea what will happen before they even show up <3
