Yeah; Bowser and Dr. Wily would get my votes in most situations, but
lord knows neither of them are the most vile villains around.

How can you be a huge Mega Man fan and not know who Sigma is?
I love Mega Man from MMAC and I'll vote for Zero based on his relationship to MM and his looks, but... I had no idea who Sigma is. And I wouldn't vote for Dr. Wily. >_>

Anyone have a projection for this match's vote totals? The current total seems low.
As for Sigma, he spent too much time in the background in the MMX games.

*shrugs* Guessing 69,000. Not sure though...but for what it's worth,
Vyse/Laharl was the only match that didn't reach 70,000 last year in

How about the prospect of Lavos, freaking LAVOS, being somewhere around Kefka?
That would be extremely kick ass.

Did I just hear anyone say Lavos being strong would be a GOOD thing?
Okay, so I'm not voting against him at all in this contest, but that's only because I don't care for one of his opponents and despise the other.

I think there would be more correlation in strength between Robotnik and Andross than Robotnik and Sigma.
Ulti:
I just think that Wily is stronger than Robutt, and if Wily bombs, so will Robutt. We'll see what happens.
Like I said before, I agree with this. But as I said before, I would expect Robotnik to be stronger than Wily.
Also, I'm not sure how relevant Wily's % against Ultros will be...I don't think Ultros will be a true jobber.
Now, I know logic like this hasn't worked well in the past, but: can Ultros really be below HK-47?
Ulti:
But this is GameFAQs, where the Mega Man series is far more popular than the Sonic series.
I don't know about this at all.
Slowflake:
Either way, CT and FF6 are about equal, right? How about the prospect of Lavos, freaking LAVOS, being somewhere around Kefka?
I could see that.
RPGuy96:
I love Ultros, but he's a joke, nothing more.
Oh come on man. Ultros rules.
I think what you meant to say was: "Ultros makes jokes." Right? ;)
FastFalcon:
Can you explain the relationship here? or someone else? I can understand the wily/sigma relationship (which is conjecture, but seems valid) but extension to Ultros? Because he's a joke villain? I'm hoping there's more to it.
The idea is that the better Ultros does, the worse Wily will do; and Wily and Robotnik should be correlated. However, I believe Andross is correlated to Robotnik too. And Robotnik should certainly be more popular than Andross.
FastFalcon:
I think these "surprising results" are going to highlight a point I've said a few times. This is not the Summer Contest. This is a villain's contest. I don't know how safe/reliable it is to use past results to justify these new matches. It's a different contest, and I bet it won't play out as entirely expected.
Oh no, that's not true at all. The problem is that we don't have past results for the vast majority of competitors.

This is a true sign of me not playing Star Fox 64 in years; I don't
remember Oikonny from it, even after you mention him being a part of
Star Wolf. I knew there was somebody missing besides Pigma, but I
didn't remember Oikonny's annoyin' ass was in it. Shame on me.

Why? Chrono Trigger basically owns half this site, and Lavos is very prominent in it. He dominates discussion for a huge part of the game--just not the beginning, which is his main problem.
Also, he happens to be a "thing", rather than a person. I'm pretty sure "things" have less appeal than people to voters.
***Minor Chrono Trigger SPOILERS below***
The scenes that you see of him coming up in 1999 on the computer screens are some of the most memorable I've experienced in a video game.
***End Spoilers***

Andross is making this much closer than I expected, I wonder if Star

I'm thinking Star Wolf could make up the 3% and then some.

Oh no, that's not true at all. The problem is that we don't have past results for the vast majority of competitors.
Exactly. Only 7 of these contenders have statistics for us to go off of. The #1 seeds, Liquid, Luca, and CATS each have been in the Summer contest and have stats to go off of while the other 25/32 contenders are new and give us nothing to go off of. This will most definatly be a good (mostly unpredictable) contest...in my opinion.

Oh boy, here's me with my usual comment on the match.
Poor numbers from Sigma today. Now I didn't go through all the pages, but do you think most overestimated Sigma, or underestimated Andross?
Either way, any possible chance of a Sigma over Bowser upset is gone.

I think Star Wolf would have been a friendly rival though, thus not eligible.
I don't recall the plot that well, but why would he have been a friendly rival? Didn't he work for Andross?
And I'm not sure about Star Wolf being stronger than Andross. Certainly possible, but he wasn't nearly as prominent in the games as Andross.
Master Moltar:
Now I didn't go through all the pages, but do you think most overestimated Sigma, or underestimated Andross?
The consensus is solidly on the side of Sigma being overestimated.

Aight then, no wonder why I didn't remember him, heh. I didn't think
Star Wolf was really on anybody's side, good or bad, and just wanted to
fight with you in SF64...in SF:Ass though, they 'bout made me mad with
the fact they helped each other as much as they did, heh.

Things got a little different in SF:A.
True, but in SF64 there's no way you could call him a "friendly rival". In SF64 Star Wolf was kinda more prominent in the game, I'd say, and there's no debate that he certainly was in SF:Assault.

He needs nominations, 61! Nominate Raiden (Metal Gear Solid 2) for SC2K5!

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Dr. Wily do even worse than
Sigma. The last original series Mega Man game was released in 1998, and
that was in Japan only.

Oh, and I don't understand Ulti's comparison between Sigma and Robotnik. They're completely unrelated.

There's a common suspicion shared by many that Sigma > Wily >or=
Robotnik and that Sin > Ultros. It's not entirely right, but that's
his reasoning for it.

It got rereleased on the GBA and made it to America/Europe in 2003.
