Forgive how short this writeup is, for I don't have a lot of experience in the Resident Evil series. Thankfully, it's not as if Nemesis has much of a chance in the first place. As mainstream as Resident Evil is, Metal Gear Solid flat-out trumps it.

Soul’s Analysis

It’s been so long since I’ve played a Resident Evil game not named RE4. The first time I saw Nemesis make it in here; I thought it was another random RPG character. Of course, after looking through it again, I realized my mistake. When I was playing RE games when I was younger, I sucked. I thought the controls were god awful, but the game was awesome. In fact, I got my friend to play for me. He understood the controls far better than what I understood, and he was pretty good at it.

Metal Gear Solid is one of those games that sound good, but you just haven’t had the time to play. Well, at least for me it is. I have never played an MGS game in my life. Not once. Never. I have no clue where Ocelot could stand. Some people are predicting him to beat Bowser. Of course, I don’t see that happening. I do see him winning this match though, with around 64%.



Outback’s Analysis

That’s about all I know about this match. I’ve never played the game(s) of either character, and I’ve never even heard of Nemesis. But I do know one thing. And that’s the hand gesture. So I’ll just fill this analysis like I plan on filling the other ones in which I know nothing of the villains: contest stats and crap. I believe that it’s definitely feasible for Ocelot to be as strong or (hand gesture) STRONGER then Liquid Snake. Game, Set, Handgesture, and MATCH!

Inviso’s Analysis

Well, Konami versus Capcom. This is something I love seeing, because personally, Capcom gets owned in the face every time. Ocelot has been in the three 3D Metal Gear Solid games. He does the hand gesture. Enough said. Nemesis was in Resident Evil 3, and thus, was later in the movie, Resident Evil: Apocalypse.

Resident Evil, because it’s not an RPG, or Nintendo console game, is not going to get a lot of love in the votes. But then again, Metal Gear Solid hasn’t exactly been a powerhouse. I mean, the main character almost got beaten by FROG. Of course, Resident Evil didn’t exactly show strong in the past contest. Its ONE rep was beaten by Ryu Hayabusa, a character that was highly overseeded and beaten by Sora. Anyway, despite my analysis, this is going to be a very easy match to determine. MGS3 may not even be the most popular PS2 game on Gamefaqs, but when it’s in second behind Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, that’s not half bad.

My prediction: Revolver Ocelot with 68.96%

I've done an analysis for tomorrow's match as well.

Ocelot is obviously stronger than Bowser. He wins.

Ocelot with 80.36%.

most people on Board 8 consider this match an automatic win for Ocelot, but i'm not quite as sold on Ocelot's potential as them. he COULD be as strong as Liquid Snake or even a little stronger. but he COULD also be perceived as another old guy and have nowhere near the fans of Liquid or Solid Snake. however, there is more than enough to base a prediction off of for this match.

first of all, Nemesis was the villain in Resident Evil 3, which is pretty much the least popular entry in the main Resident Evil series. Ocelot, on the other hand, has played a major role in all three Metal Gear Solids. so, Ocelot's face has had a lot more exposure than Nemesis's hideously disfigured face. second of all, remember when MGS faced Resident Evil in last spring's Contest? MGS whomped RE with over 70% of the vote. Nemesis would have to be one heck of an unexpected powerhouse to overcome that big of a gap.

based on that, Ocelot should be able to take this one, but i won't be surprised to see Nemesis keep this one somewhat close.

personal vote: meh. don't care about either. Ocelot for the bracket, i guess.

Now I didn't go through all the pages, but do you think most overestimated Sigma, or underestimated Andross?

Hmm, I think we underestimated Andross to a significant degree, too. I mean we haven't seen Fox in a while, he's had new releases, (not andross primarily, but still starfox itself), so I think he was underestimated.

They always are, yeah, but to a degree of reason. I wouldn't be suprised if we got just a little outside that degree.
