Contest Stats and Discussion - Part 113
From: Tatsumaki Senpuu | Posted: 5/3/2005 1:40:45 PM | Message Detail
Ryu's better in Marvel, Alpha, and SF2, and I think in the first 2 SFIII games.

I know Ryu was better in one of the SF3 games, but I'm pretty sure Ken was better, or at least, even in the other. But I don't think either really matter when discussing the overall contest performance. The main games to note for SF would be SF2, SFA, and games like CvS2. Outside of those, I wouldn't wager the GameFAQs community gets much on the fighting scene.

Yeah, well, soem people want to argue gameplay has an effect, so that alone would give Cammy a good size advantage. Of course, she was by far the most popular new character in SSF2 and in those days until, as mentioned, the brokenness of Guile was discovered she was fairly well played, at least in the areas I played. She's hot, too, which made a lot of people like her. Either way I'd take her over Bison in a contest.

Bowser's being increasing slowly up to 84%...let's see if he can get to 85%..I think 90% is out of the question, but I hope for that. He deserves it. :-(

90% was out of the question once you saw the poll results this morning. But 85% is possible, although I would expect somewhere around mid-84%.

And what the hell did I say about these vote totals? I shouldn't have touched my tiebreaker. >.>

And Cammy would beat Bison, easily.

I think we'll just have to disagree on that one for now. I wouldn't find myself taking Cammy over Bison.

Who said thatI was talking about ryu being better than Ken storywise? Ryu is better in SF2 games and in Marvel Ken is even weaker than Dan.

And story tiers rarely come into play, Oro is leauges beyong almost everybody in Street Fighter even without 2 arms and he's nothing special in the games. Morrigan is strong enough to wipe the floor with DBZ characters and she'slittle more than an Akuma clone without a hurricane kick.

Fine time, as round 3 is starting. Though my opponent hasn't reponded yet. 9:30 minutes and I get game one free :)

Morri would win because she's a succubus, not because she is uber powerful. Even Goku is man enough to be tempted by her, Chichi or no. Hell, I think Pan would be tempted to tap that.

For coming from an obscure platformer Strider is very strong, unless you think someone like Kolona would be stronger than he is.

Ya know, thinking about it, I think we need a MvC3. Not because I like the series (two was way too over the top for me) but because it did some interesting thing. No character in that game was in the lower half in 2k2.

3 minutes till I get me a free win.

Who said thatI was talking about ryu being better than Ken storywise? Ryu is better in SF2 games and in Marvel Ken is even weaker than Dan.

Ryu is only better, and marginally at that, in the latter SF2 games. And I'm not a fan of MvC games, but I suppose you could make a case there, especially for casual people.

And story tiers rarely come into play, Oro is leauges beyong almost everybody in Street Fighter even without 2 arms and he's nothing special in the games.

Oro is a bastard, but he's still got some competition from Akuma as far as that is concerned. Although Oro kicked Ryu's ass like it was nothing, so I'm certainly not saying that Oro is weaker than Akuma.

Weird, how did Servbot do better than Iroi, Kyo and terry?

"Games like" CvS2 is in reference to crossover titles. That's where the MvC games come into play.

The next Capcom crossover isen't even a fighting game, despite that, Servbot, Morrigan and Strider return after half a decade MIA.

Obscure? Strider was freakin' pimp in the day. The original Strider was just too freaking awesome to call it obscure by any means, esp since it was a fair release on the NES and a good, early gen title on the Genesis. Sure, it's been forgotten somewhat by time, but if Capcom would give Strider the DMC treatmeant (making it similar to Shinobi/Ninja Gaiden/Castlevania LoI but doing it the way only Capcom can do perfectly) he could be a top dog again.
Oh yeah, game one all mine, uncontested. 7 minutes and game 2 is mine as well.

Yeah, but EA vs. Marvel is going to be mediocre at best, I'm sure. And the next Capcom cross over could be anywhere from bland to godlike. I'm hoping for the second, just to keep things interesting.

2.5 minutes until I win my match by default *sighs*. Someone tell me this isn't a bad thing. Winning without playing my magical cards feels soooo wrong.

It's actually some sort of RPG, and all the characters look SD so they are probably all new.

Oh, and someone tell me it's not wrong to win by default, please.

Right now the total looks to be better than the 2k2 contest, (roughly 50-60k) but I don't think it'll hit the levels of the other contests which often got in the 90k.

Andross is going to be one weak competitor. Look at Fox, who's even lower than Ness. Sigma will undoubtedly be higher than Protoman and probably Wily as well.

Picking what's expected is no fun. I know I'm not going to win these contests anyway, so I might as well do something crazy, so long as there's a reasonable chance of it occurring.

Do these figures look familiar to you?

1 - LordOfDabu 153 Chrono Trigger

Unfortunately we can't rely on what the numebrs say about fox or pikachu, Cloud/Mario screwed everything up in 2k2 and those two faced eachother with Fox then facing Link. SFF anybody?

Though Andross is nothing compared to Fox. Falco should have gotten into a contest before Andross.

It's pretty safe to say that Fox is weaker than Ness though. You have to adjust Cloud WAY up there (pretty close to Link) to get Fox higher.

In 2002? I don't see that being the case. If we're going to say that, we might as well say there was no WDF and that was Sephiroth's true strength against Link.

For the first time, probably in the history of this topic, Square will be underestimated to the point of jawdroppings. Tidus has been marginally underestimated in the past, but nothing will compare to the hell that is raised when Kuja gets 45%+ on Ganondorf.
