Contest Stats and Discussion - Part 113

I remember in Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (which is a better Sonic game than all but one of the Genesis games), he was called both names on different occasions.

I don't remember him ever being called Robotnik in SA2B.

I think I remember him referring to himself as Ivo Robotnik when talking about his grandfather, but my memory is a little hazy. I do know for sure that the name Robotnik made an appearance. "Eggman" is just a nickname. I don't think it will really matter in this contest, anyway.

Eggman is what the Japs call him. Dr. Ivo Robotnik is the American name for him.

Diablo will not disappoint, especially with a rumored e3 Diablo III announcement.

Anyone care to hook me up with a site about this? I am really interested in Diablo III. Wanna find out if it truly exists or is someone made it up.

Just to compare, Bowser vs. Guybrush had 6400 votes at ~1:55. Bowser vs. Pyramid Head has 4405 at the same time. BvG ended up with 74383, so this isn't looking good for the current contest's vote totals. I'm glad I kept my tiebreaker low.
From: CaptainFlufflez | Posted: 5/3/2005 2:34:40 AM | Message Detail
Bowser vs. Guybrush wasn't the first match of the year. And since this is the smaller more overlooked contest people probably don't remember that it's starting today especially with the date change. THe vote totals will be normal.

Surprisingly, Bowser vs. Pyramid was at 79.99% to 20.01% What does this say about Bowser or Pyramid if it says anything at all? o_O;

I just realized that AmazingKirby was Leonhart.

Anyway, looks like the vote totals for this match will be in the 55K-70K range. Not good, but not unexpected.

so, face shots for Round One, eh? i guess the Sweet 16 will remain sprite pics, then. and that would mean the Elite Eight would be the really sweet battle pics. does that mean that Kefka will actually get his final boss pic in the Elite Eight!? i think it does. ^_^

It's been in Gamespot's latest rumor column. Apparently the music for the game is entirely done. I wonder how they're going to top Diablo 2...

Okay, today's match.

Pyramid Head is doing quite well, actually. Just a lil' lower than Guybrush isn't anything to be ashamed of, considering Guybrush at least has, you know, a cult. Pyramid Head has... Inviso?

Also, HM. You really think M. Bison is a top 5 SF character? I'd take Akuma, Guile, Ken, Chun Li, and Ryu over him.

Guile? Hell no. Maybe back in 1991 - 1995 I would have done so, but certainly not at this point. And all of the ones Chichiri mentioned would not even come close to topping Bison. Although the top 5 order would be.

Ryu > Akuma > Ken > Chun-Li > M. Bison.

Wily = Protoman, maybe a tad higher.

You couldn't get me to believe that if you tried. You're comparing a main villain of the series to someone who is in and out in a matter of seconds most of the time.

Now, finally, Bowser is doing about how I expected him to today by getting over 80%. I expected he would be doing a tad better, but his lead should increase over the day. It's good to see that we have some headshots for the first round this year.

Oh, I wasn't the only one talking about it. I was trying to gather enough support for Epona to actually be able to get her into the contest. I know Leonhart refused to do so, although there was general agreement that Epona wouldn't be a joke character. I made the pic, but I never posted it... it's sitting here on my comp.

If you look at every final we've ever had, the winner has scored between the 60,000-65,000 range. I don't see how this contest would be any different, even with a ~65,000 vote total in the first match.

I'm expecting ~105,000 votes in the final, and I also expect Ganondorf to make a serious push at breaking 40% on Sephiroth once he's there. That's why I went with a tiebreaker in the 63000 range.

Cammy wouldn't beat Bison? You're stonned out of your mind, HM.

Oh, and just to let you know, since you're about clueless, when it comes to fighting games, with the exclussion of Soul Calibur, GameFAQs voters don't appear to be aware that there even were any after 95.

I would definitely take Vega > M. Bison > Guile. Also, I agree that Epona would beat Vyse, and she would in no way be a joke character.

And Wily = Protoman? No way José. Wily is leagues ahead of Protoman. In the video games alone, Wily is the final boss in all 8 originals. Protoman appears significantly in MM3, a little in MM5, and makes a cameo in MM8. In the cartoons, I might agree that Wily = Protoman, but how many voters would base their vote solely off the cartoons? (I.e. have never played the games). Wily also appears in a flashback in MMX4 if I'm not mistaken.

For Street Fighter characters I'd go Ryu>Akuma>Chun Li>Bison>Ken.

Ken's really more of a heavly reconized character, he's sucked or hasen't been all that good in most games and he's design's not all that orginal.
