Woody Paige is okay, but there are too many times where he makes you wanna say "DOOOOOD, just shut up already!".

J.A. Adonde is my SECOND fave... he throws it down West Coast style. Gotta love the Adonde Lounge.

Jay Mariotti is a conceited idiot. Every good point he makes, he backs it up with something snotty.

And I'm pleased with Bison's showing in this poll today. I am still flirting with the idea of taking him over the likes of Diablo/Ridley and possibly Kefka. The odds that I do so probably aren't very likely, but I probably wouldn't be shocked to see something like that go down. Especially given that the whole division is weak.

"And what does Diablo have? A piggyback ride from Starcraft, as all of you claim"

It's a little ways back, but is something that should be addressed. Diablo II is far more popular than StarCraft in the United States.

StarCraft is just the more popular game internationally.

Being from Chicago, I have the <dis>pleasure of reading Mariotti every morning in the Sun Times. And let me just say his article before March Madness about how Illinois was not talented enough to win the national title made for great toilet paper. Sure, we may have lost by 5 points, but missing six wide open threes in the last 4 minutes of the game, and losing by two possessions, to a team with three guaranteed lottery picks and two more sure first rounders, seems to display enough talent for my liking.

While Diablo II being potentially better than Starcraft in the contest is a bit of an eye-opener, I'm still picking Ridley, only because I don't think PC characters have much strength in a contest setting. Gordon Freeman is a joke, and I'm thinking that Diablo and, if she ever makes it in, Kerrigan will be the same way.

M. Bison over Ridley is starting to be tempting, though. Hmm.

Hypothetically if you had exactly 50.005%-49.995% and assuming it always rounds up on a 5, wouldn't you get 50.01-50

You're right, I had forgotten about that. But that's not what's going on here; something like that occurring is extremely unlikely. And these 100%+ sum errors actually occur somewhat often.

And the rounding thing is not always true, actually. It depends on the OS. Apparently a little-known suggestion for rounding is that you round to the even number. Some OSes actually do implement this rule; and MySQL's round() function uses the round function of the OS. So in that case, .50005 would be rounded to .5 rather than .5001.

Some links:
http://sunsite.mff.cuni.cz/MIRRORS/ftp.mysql.com/doc/en/Mathematical_functions.html
http://lists.mysql.com/myodbc/8

"Note that the behaviour of ROUND() when the argument is half way between two integers depends on the C library implementation. Some round to the nearest even number, always up, always down, or always toward zero. If you need one kind of rounding, you should use a well-defined function like TRUNCATE() or FLOOR() instead."

It can be safely said that CJayC isn't using truncate or floor, because that would become apparent when we saw different sorts of errors.

Master Hand just took the lead from M. Bison.
http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=1988

CATS 19.86% 5890
M. Bison 24.94% 7399
Master Hand 24.95% 7400
Officer Tenpenny 13.27% 3937
Ultros 16.99% 5039
TOTAL VOTES 29665

Considering Master Hand won't get much more than 10,000 votes from this poll, I wouldn't put much stock into it, though it does make for interesting discussion. Heck, CATS is probably getting a higher percentage in this poll than he'll get in his match.

Master Hand should easily break 10000. All it needs to do is stay at ~25% and the total votes need to exceed 40000. With that said, the poll still isn't worth too much. It's just kinda funny to see Master Hand winning.

Meh, I disagree. I like GTA characters. They work great in fanfiction.

Thing about Bison is, while I think he IS strong, I think that Albedo won't be a slouch either. Also, strong has something of a different meaning in this contest... I mean, Kefka, who isn't top 32 in the real contest, will likely be 6th or 7th in this one.

I wouldnt go as far as 6th or 7th. I can name atleast 10 other characters in this contest that I have little doubt can beat Kefka and some others are close. It just so happens the division he is in is really weak.

Yeah, Ansem will be no Ryu; Sora's having a hard enough time being Ryu as-is. I'm almost positive it won't happen (if for no other reason than because of CATS's glass wall; he is only capable of getting so many votes), but I'd LOVE to see CATS just not get doubled against Ansem.

M. Bison kick the living crap out of Master Hand? Nu-uh, won't happen. He'd beat him, but you'd be silly to say MH would get the crap kicked out of him.

Hmm.

First division, I think Bowser and Ocelot can take Kefka, and Wily and Sigma might be able to.

Second division, I think Sephiroth and Liquid Snake can beat him.

Third division, I think no one can beat him... but I guess I could be wrong. That division's up in the air anyway... Mithos and Luca are the only ones that have no chance to win.

Last division, I think Ganondorf can beat him, and maybe Kuja, Robotnik, and Sin can.

So at highest, he's 6th, at lowest, he's 12th. I guess I did exaggerate a bit.
