Well, I'm 1:30 in having just beaten the first boss, so take from that what you will. No idea if that's slow or quick.

With the comletion of Sam Fisher and Lara Croft's pages, the 2004 bios are complete!!
Up next are the 2002-2003 leftovers, though I'm finishing my archive of the 2004 stats first.

I didn't get to address this in the last topic, but to the person who
said EB normally has Final Fantasys and Mega Mans in their PSX
inventory, I submit my acquisition of Valkyrie Profile, Suikoden II,
Legend of Mana and Tales of Destiny I and II through Gamestop, all for
significantly cheaper than you will find out on eBay. Sure, each store
and the website normally don't have these gems in stock, but the mere
fact that I have found them without much hassle is what has me thankful
that Gamestop will be running EB Games now.
Less than two weeks until the tournament starts! And let me say that making the top 50 is so NOT overrated, as I still have the top 50 printed out from the day of the GTA:VC/SSB:M matchup where I cracked the top 25!

I cracked up to #40 after FFX/SSBM, and got #34 after SMB3/LoZ...but
then I plummeted when CT barely beat LoZ:LttP. For shame, heh...
...my best run though was being #13 right before Sora/Ryu H.'s match. After that, I thought I could still make it back on the list...then Mario/Crono happened. Bye bye list since then.

i was among the others tied for 50th place at Master Cheif vs. Frog.
had that panned out for me, i would've been in the Top 6 with
MasterMage. >_<
although, i did break the Top 50 in SC2K3. i peaked at #24 and then Cloud beat Link and crushed all my hopes. i seriously kicked myself for months because i was seriously tempted to pick Cloud over Link before the contest started but decided against it. if i had picked Cloud, i would have won the contest with a score of 185. *sigh*
trust me, being in the Top 50 during the contest is nowhere near as satisfying as being in the Top 50 at the end of the contest.

I've been in the Top 50 in the last two contests. Dropped out on
FFX/SSBM last Spring and I would've won a prize last year if not for
Link winning. It's cool to be in the Top 50, but it just makes it feel
worse if you don't win.

Hey, I was just wondering: is there anyone among us who doesn't have Sephiroth winning?
See, this is exactly why I'm opposed to remvoing Cloud and Link from the character contests: because it make the bracket even more predictable, and would continue to be that way until you took out every character with even a hint of strength.

I am pretty sure here who's with half a brain put Sephiroth as their winner unless they're newbs to gamefaqs.. Even for the summer contest, taking out Link and Cloud will make it an obvious Sephiroth winner too [Samus will not beat Sephy] . But in the summer contest case, there will be a less percentage prediction for Sephy as the winner if both Link and Cloud are removed..
But since CjayC confirmed that he will not remove them, then there's nothing to worry about..

What do you think of the name "Xbox 360"?
Great name for a great console 1.96% 403
Good name, better than "Xbox 2" 9.14% 1881
I don't care, it's all about the games 25.16% 5178
It sounds like a joke to me 39.22% 8071
Horrible name, worst ever 24.52% 5045
TOTAL VOTES 20578
Yeah, we sure love Microsoft here. I wonder if this will change in any appreciable manner as the day goes on, or will even "the kiddies" think that it's a horrible name?

XBox 360 is better than NeXTBox.
As for Sigma/Lavos, I'd probably take Sigma, but not with a high degree of confidence. Lavos will get a lot of the CT vote, but it won't be nearly as strong as CT was in Spc2k4, for the similar reasons people have been saying Sin won't be nearly as strong as FFX - a giant all-powerful spiky whale just doesn't have much of a character. I think Sigma can pull in enough of the MM votes to take down Lavos.

I've been thinking about this, and I know we talk about seeding not
being indicative of strength, but I've been looking at the previous
results recently.
In all four contests, only one #1 seed has failed to advance to the Sweet Sixteen (the equivalent of the 2nd round of this contest). In any other situation (read: Not facing StarCraft), Halo would've made the Sweet Sixteen.
Only one #2 seed has failed to advance to the Sweet Sixteen: Crash Bandicoot, facing a severely underseeded Sephiroth. Even with the extremely poor seeding of SC2K2, he was the only 1 or 2 seed to lose this early.
Looking at this villains contest, I only see one instance that even comes close to resembling either one of those situations, and that is Ridley-Diablo. The rest of them look like business as usual, regardless of whether it's Link over CATS business as usual or SSBM over MGS2 business as usual.

Yes, I seriously doubt that even Sephiroth / Ganondorf is somehow a
"guaranteed" 100,000 matchup. Look, I would love for it to do so and
even hope it happens, but until I actually see the first few matches of
the contest I'm not going to jump out and assume that we're going to
start seeing insane vote totals again.
Agreed. I think this contest will be slower then even last Spring Contest.

I have saved pictures of every day I was on the Top Fifty list last year (both contests), heh, so it's not all that over-rated I think (unless you're already had your success, like you have)...I vow two things though, now that I've gotten some taste of success:
1) To break the Top Ten one day.
2) To finish in the Top Fifty on day.
Of course, my goal's to win a contest, but only so many people can win, heh
I've finished inside the top twenty, and once more in the top 50. I'm happy with that, and I don't think I'll equal it ever again. I'm entering a very risky bracket this year. Too many gambles. But I want to go for broke just once. Anyh00t, I don't fancy my chances.

Gone to 2300 for the first time now. It's been OK so far.

First trip to 2300 is the worst part, actually.

It's been OK to that point. Haven't actually done anything there yet.

Xbox 360 is definitely not worse than ps3, so, bleh, I can't say I really care about its name.
And I doubt they'll leave it at revolution, again, I wouldn't really care though.

You know what would be a funny contest?
One where Ceej would use the worst pictures available for each character (or no picture at all; both would work.)
e.g. for Mega Man, the American box art for the original MM, for Mario, a picture from the live-action SMB movie, etc.
A contest like that would really let us know how much the pictures matter.

What does 360 have to do with anything? It's like they're saying,
"This system is just the same as the first one, but buy it anyway."
It's suppose to imply a "turnaround" or "revolution" from what they did with the Xbox this generation. It certainly isn't a good name by any means and even gets worse with the horrible logo they have for it.

But it is suppose to be a platnium white console while being concave - quoted as being said "like sucking in its cheeks."
There was some speculation that the console might look similar to what you would see at Xbox.com. Specifically the white, round portion at the top.
