Like, try this. Put anything in for name 1. It will get the same score with Sin as it does with CATS.

The conclusion... (FFX SPOILERS)

Tidus: It can't be...

Auron: It is. Sin is CATS.

Funny how we're all calling Ridley middle-of-the-pack-or-slightly-below. The more I think of it, the more I'm compelled to pick him over Kefka. Then again, I had a very strong gut instinct in Kefka's favor on that one, plus Kefka is pretty much guaranteed to make it to the match, whereas Ridley doesn't. Eggman over Kuja is somewhat appealing to, but... no.

If someone falls just short of a perfect, it will be because of a match in the Ruin division. Mark my words.

BTW, I'm still siding with Ridley in his match against Diablo.

I haven't seen anybody rallying support for Diablo on the boards, but I saw a LOT of that kinda stuff for StarCraft. Besides, I don't think having the same name as his series helps him that much; if it did, then Zelda would've won 2003 easily.

Not to say that Ridley will be particularly strong or anything, but I'm seeing some people that are predicting him to be absurdly weak, which isn't going to happen. If I had to make a rough estimate of his strength, he'd be around Wario. So, just above fodder, pretty much. I wouldn't pick Diablo to beat him, so I'm not picking him to beat Ridley.

Ocelot ~ Liquid
Liquid > Bowser
Ocelot > Bowser

First off, Ocelot will not be as strong as Liquid. I can almost guarantee this, regardless of whether or not he's been in MGS3. Secondly, Liquid over Bowser is not a for sure thing. I, myself, would take Bowser in such a match. But you're looking a tossup there. So, just to play along, if Ocelot were as strong as Liquid there is still no guarantee that he would walk away with a win.

Bowser is the KING OF PEOPLE WHO TALK TO POSTERS.
Ocelot's some loser with a dumb hand gesture.

Yeah, real hard choice. Ocelot's popularity is very much a board thing. The front-page noms dragged down his seeding a lot. Besides, Liquid Snake may or may not get some help from the clone factor - either way, he's extremely close to Solid Snake. It would be absolute blasphemy to think Ocelot could do the same.

either way, he's extremely close to Solid Snake. It would be absolute blasphemy to think Ocelot could do the same.

Allow me to play the devil's advocate for a bit...It all depends on what you make of Solid Snake-Frog. Really, it's not THAT farfetched to imagine Ocelot being that strong. He's ever-present throughout the entire Metal Gear Solid series, one whom I would consider to be the overall main villain. Liquid is there in the flesh for one game, and then as...well, Ocelot's arm.

Plus, as mentioned earlier, Ocelot has one thing to draw from that many can't claim: Duality, I like to call it. You may have people who like old Ocelot but not young Ocelot, and vice-versa. If you can get both of them to come together and unite behind him...Who knows?

Either way, Ocelot is more than just a board thing. More than likely, he won't be as strong as Liquid, but I can't see him being lower than...say, around Vercetti.

And Ridley is Nintendo. I think it is rather obvious which one holds the stronger set of characters/games. The other reasoning you provided has been brought up in the past to try at helping other games/characters and the said game/character usually ended up receiving nothing in the way of a boost or lost the match it was involved in.

That is one of the worst analogies ever made. You cannot possibly think Ridley is to Nintendo as Diablo is to Blizzard.

Well, let's think of it this way:

Bowser = 30.97%
Solid Snake = 33.05%

Predicted: Solid Snake over Bowser with 53.15%.

Let's say Snake has gone up to, say, 34.5%. Now Snake will receive 55.12% against Bowser. We could then say this: If L. Snake apparently could receive 49% against S. Snake (and L. Snake grew proportionally with S. Snake), Ocelot can be 4% behind L. Snake in relation to S. Snake and still have a shot against Bowser. I don't think it's too out of this world.
