(Completely off topic) Heh, I just realized that this contest ends on the 31st of May, the day that I turn 21. It'd be neat if I actually won something from this contest on that day, but what are the chances of that happening?

Gah. I don't want Robotnik as one of the last five people in the contest.

I'm still catching up, but just to post on the whole donkey kong issue, I'm not sure why people are so suprised he didn't make it in. In my opinion, that could have just been an example by cjayc to show an eligibility rule, and he might have even selected someone he knew wouldn't get in to show the point. I mean Donkey Kong? How many would have even though to nominate him if he weren't mentioned?

I still have Sin beating Robotnik. Why? Because I believe Robotnik is the weakest Sonic character yet in the tourney. Yeah...I can't see him beating even Tails. Anyway, while Sin may be a shell, it certainly has a large role in FFX. Oh, and Robotnik is ugly. :x As silly as that sounds, that could be a deciding factor.

Oh, and I think Seph will have about 75% (maybe 80%) of the brackets picking him to win. Bracket-makers have been getting better at this every contest. Not to mention Sephiroth has only 31 characters to beat, and has jokes for opponents. 84% had Sephiroth going past Auron,

Bison does kinda worry in that, even though he's from Street Fighter, I don't think being from Street Fighter guarantees that he'll have a lot of backing like a Nintendo character would. But, most are guessing Albedo isn't anywhere close to KOS-MOS, so...

I think it's high time somebody mentions Zelda's underwhelming performances...and even then, she may be a bit over-rated. She's strong, but for having her series be called the friggin' Legend of Zelda and has had more than two games released (most/all of which are more well-received here than the Diablo series)...then she has been in SSBM too. Her strength isn't exactly worth bragging about (with or without the theory of her being over-rated)...so why Diablo, a final boss (I think?) from a two-game PC series?

HEY! Back off from Zelda, she did rank 19th for what it's worth, and almost getting 40% on Megaman isn't really "underwhelming." I mean if you had AN EVIL BLUE ROBOT FREAK BOY SHOVING A GUN INTO YOUR FACE, NO NO, THROUGH YOUR FACE, you might be a little weaker too. In all seriousness though, Zelda's pretty strong, she's a solid competitor.

I've seen several people with faith in M. Bison, and I honestly have no clue why. Just take a look at Sonic/Ken. Now take a look at Sonic/Ryu. That should give you a good idea of the strength gap between the two. The gap between Ken and Bison is probably much, much larger than the one between Ken and Ryu. Albedo is probably about half of KOS-MOS's strength, maybe 3/4 of her SC2K4 numbers now that XS2 is out. Albedo should take it 60/40, then maybe give Diablo/Ridley a run.

whoa, whoa, whoa; hold on there a moment. how the heck could the gap between Ken and Bison be bigger than the gap between Ken and Ryu? are you sure you didn't mean the gap between RYU and Bison would be bigger? because going by your statement that would put Bison roughly below CATS, Ratchet, and Ryo Hazuki. i could see Bison being weaker than Ken, but not that weak.

i'm banking that Bison will be much closer to Ken than Albedo will be to KOS-MOS. i mean, c'mon, she is a hot android chick. i'll admit it - i voted for her over Crash because she is hot. and almost every board contest that she is in, if i don't care about her opponent, i will vote for her because she is hot. am i the only person who would vote for KOS-MOS for that reason? pfffttt..... doubtful. and that's one source of votes Albedo can't draw upon. Kuja maybe, but not Albedo.

YAY CAUGHT UP

Some thoughts/predictions:

Bowser and Ganon are going to do significantly better on Sephiroth than they would in the Summer contests.

People are underestimating Ansem. Not that it matters; he still loses to Ganon, but I expect a decent showing.

Master Hand could...be...scary if the ssb/m fanbase shows up.

Does anyone even like M. Bison? He could really be quite horrible.

Robotnik is certainly also very very interesting.

I really, really doubt it. Kuja shouldn't have too much trouble with him, unless you want to tell me Master Hand could give Ness a run for his money, meaning you believe nearly ALL of Ness's fanbase comes from Smash Brothers.

And Robotnik will be little more than fodder.

Firstly, Vivi's performance wasn't at all underwhelming unless you underestimate DK or seriously thought that Vivi was sweet sixteen material.

"I second whoever said picking the pedo over Eggman and Kuja is a no-brainer,"

I'm glad that's not evn an issue. I'm torn enough with Ridley/pedo, let alone Kuja/pedo.

"The more I look at at that fourpack, the more it seems like Robotnik>Kuja>Sin>Master Hand"

You're insane... go ahead and run with it.

"Meh, I'd take Kuja to beat Kefka, and I don't see Robotnik doing the same."

Same here. In fact I think I said I'd take Kuja over Kefka earlier. Of course... I'm getting scared about the chances of Kefka vs the pedo now that I think about it... argh, the ruin division sucks.

"What are ocelots chances over wily?"

I'm saying Ocelot's a house, and hte best match of the contest we be him against Bowser. Wily must make his time.

"i'm banking that Bison will be much closer to Ken than Albedo will be to KOS-MOS."

And that's still not enough to win.

"Master Hand could...be...scary if the ssb/m fanbase shows up."

He couldn't possibly get more ssb/m repect than Ness, and Ness had his own game to back him up. Would you pick Ness over Kuja? I don't think I would. Kuja is slightly short of Vivi, but I don't think it's enough to put him that far below Ness to where MH can win.

Well, you're friggin' insane then. Plain and simple. there's no possible way that Ness' fanbase is 100% SSB-centric, In fact I'd say (comparing Earthbound to the very closely ranked Shenmue and its relation to it lead character, Ryo Hazuki) that it's an even 50/50 split. Now, as has been pointed out, the smash games live and breath on their multiplayer, not the bland single player modes, and for this reason alone I have little doubt that every SSB/M player has more exposure to Ness than MH. If this were the big show I'd give MH as much credit as CATS.

well, I don't want to believe that, but master hand doesn't necessarily have to be weaker than Ness; he just needs to (hell he can only) attract ssb votes better than ness can. i mean, we had other board favorites over master hand, didn't we? It is somewhat odd to have a glove in this contest. and perhaps a bit scary.

And I know we're used to games =/= (hopefully the symbol for don't equal) characters, well I think we're going to see that villain contest =/= character contest.
