People come to play in the contest all the time from the outside, many of those who vote on mascot appeal alone. Ridley isn't a mascot of Metroid games...Samus is, however.

People who are fans of Metroid are almost always fans of Ridley. He's not the most popular villain of the series for no reason. He's been in almost every Metroid game out there. I don't know where this idea came up that people wouldn't care for him.

Well, this isn't a matter of taking on a FF powerhouse, this is a matter of taking on a very weak Kefka. He doesn't require insane amounts of strength to beat him, and all things considered, the only reason I could possibly see to help him is that he's from Final Fantasy. And even with that, he's just. . . weak. When I honestly look at the previous X-sts to see Kefka's position, I have no doubts of taking Ridley over everyone around Kefka.

I know, it's hard to argue a match where we have nothing to base Ridley off of, but if you're going for someone people don't care about - and Leonhart said it before me - then look no further than Mother Brain. There will be plenty of people who can and will recognize Ridley. If there's one site out there that is big on Metroid, this would be one of them.

This contest's format is completely different -- extrapolated stats don't mean anything, as we've never had a pure villainy contest to base data on.

Kefka is FF though, which is a factor that transcends all logic. If Albedo doesn't stop him, I think Kefka will with that advantage going in.

I fail to see how Diablo couldn't get the recognition his game gets. His name is the same as the game he appears in. He also just so happens to be on the cover of said game(s). Ridley over Diablo is no foregone conclusion.

I wouldn't worry all that much about Sin... FFX and Yuna have bombed in the last contests, and I see no reason Sin shouldn't follow that same fate. Tidus is the only one avoiding the plague that is FFX, and that is probably directly coorelated to him being the lead protagonist.
