Ghaleon > Vergil looks like my completely-biased-ignore-all-logic-because-one-of-my-top-ten-characters-has-a-chance-to-win match. Kinda like Luigi > Yoshi. DMC3 isn't that popular, right?

Ridley vs. Kefka... well, I do admit to being surprised that Ridley's a 2-seed. At the same time, I'm well aware that nominations mean little once the actual contest is underway. Honestly, I'd probably pick Kefka without too much hesitation.
From: Haste2 | Posted: 4/11/2005 8:19:57 PM | Message Detail
although, i do see 2 four-packs that any of the four could come out of.

2, huh? I know Albedo/MBison/Ridley/Diablo is one, but what's the other? Robotonik/Sin/Kuja/Master Hand? I see Kuja winning that with little trouble.

It's basically the opposite for me, I'm going with Ridley and not looking back. If there's one solid upset to go for, it's that one right there.

I really want to run Spread Betting again this year, but my schedule is going to be hellish-- I'm going to be on a plane to Korea on May 1st, and after that I have no clue how likely I'll be able to access a computer every day. I don't know if there's anyone reliable to hand it off to, either.

2, huh? I know Albedo/MBison/Ridley/Diablo is one, but what's the other? Robotonik/Sin/Kuja/Master Hand? I see Kuja winning that with little trouble.

those were the two i was thinking of. i know Ridley is the favorite to come out of his 4-pack, but i could see him flopping, if fans of the series turn out to not care about him nearly as much as Samus.

as for Kuja, i'm not so sure. he does not have a decent or recognizable pic at all and FF9 is not one of the more popular Final Fantasies. however, it is still Final Fantasy. the same goes for Sin. hopefully, people will be too smart to vote for such a lame excuse for a villain, but again - you can't count out an FF villain. then there is Master Hand who is about as unpredictable as SSBM was last Spring. that looks like the most unpredictable 4-pack to me.

Er, many of the heroes to villains don't have the "same appeal." For Ridley to not only lose to Kefka, but to lose by a fairly decent margin would require Samus fans to flat-out not care about Ridley at all. Let me tell you, that will be anything but the case.

Let's please not try to use the "FFIX isn't popular" excuse. It's just ridiculous.

And how in the world could you NOT recognize Kuja in a picture?

Ridley/Diablo has the potential to be a tough one. Both have the badass effect going for them... a dragon versus a devil. Ridley is a recurring villain in the popular Metroid series, Diablo is one of the villains in some of the most addictive RPGs ever made.

Note that D2 is still in the top 10 PC FAQs and message boards. It will not be getting 1/100th of the outside support that StarCraft got, but it's still popular in it's own right.

Wily/Ultros is not going to be a contest. Wily will make seafood soup out of Ultros.

Ocelot has to be as strong as Liquid, so the chances are slim, but not impossible.

Who said it's just Samus fans that are voting?

People come to play in the contest all the time from the outside, many of those who vote on mascot appeal alone. Ridley isn't a mascot of Metroid games...Samus is, however.
