Hmm. I think Ghaleon might be a little overestimated here. He's good, but I can't see him beating Luca Blight, given their alike status as fan favorite villains and the fact that Luca is from a stronger game.

The thing about that is that I don't know if CJayC would have to recode his code in order to accommodate that. If he does I doubt he would do so. If he just has to change a single variable and some minor stuff, it's more likely that he'll change the number of characters.

It woulnd't be a lot to change the system for the tournaments that little bit. I'm sure it would take him 10 minutes at the most, if he's groggy that day.

I'm not sure whose game is stronger. Suikoden II gets more acclaim, but Lunar sold quite a bit more, especially if you count both games and all the versions.

Anyone have any thoughts on whether Garland and Chaos would be considered separately? Not that it matters, I don't think Chaos has any chance of getting in. Though Garland has a good shot I think. He'll be one of my personal favorites.

I wouldn't expect him to do that well. It'd be very rare that he'd gather a vote from me, and I doubt many of the voters would care for him. I think he could maybe win a match, depending.

I think with villains that their popularity may be more divergent from the popularity of their respective games than with heroes. The heroes, after all, are intrinsic to the game itself, the villain not so much. Sephiroth will still win, of course...

I said this back in the last topic too; I completely think he's gonna use us as a good guide-line for either the seeding or the entrants, and use the total nominations to decide the other one (seeding or entrants)...perhaps a mix of the two, but I stay confident he's got some system in mind.

Ridley over Wily? Ouch...tough pick, but I think I'd have to agree; I used to think Dr. Wily could be up to Luigi's level, but I've straightened up since then; add to it Samus's strength, and I'd give the small edge to Ridley.

well, that's the problem, lol. i can't think of any other villains that could perform as mediocre as Kefka has already. even as far as Final Fantasy villains go, i can't see Kuja or Seymour beating him, partially because neither has any casual voter appeal either (just like Lettuce Kefka). the only one besides Sephiroth that i think would even have a shot at Kefka would be Seifer, i suppose (if he even gets in) simply because he's one of the cooler looking FF villains.

i think Kerrigan will be the biggest flop from Board 8's point of view. she is practically worshipped here, but i seriously doubt that the Starcraft community will rally behind her like they did last spring. Starcraft is one of those games that (like GTA and Half-Life) that people love for reasons other than the story and characters. i don't think Kerrigan will quite be fodder level, but i do think she would have to draw a 4-pack of complete fodder to make the Sweet 16.

Liquid Snake

There is no denying that Liquid was amazing against Frog. The problem comes with how strong Frog truly was. If you compare the last six hours of the Frog/Liquid poll to the Frog/Snake poll, Liquid is stronger than Solid. I'm not buying that for a second, and though I like Liquid Snake a lot, I can see a lot of brackets overestimating the hell out of him.

Kerrigan

Kerrigan is another of those characters that will likely be overestimated to hell, assuming she gets in. What Starcraft did this past spring is a very difficult thing to look past.

Ocelot

For some odd reason, I can't see Ocelot being stronger than Liquid. And since I list Liquid as a flop...

Ridley

This pains the absolute hell out of me, but I just don't see Ridley being strong at all. Samus is one of the three main Nintendo characters, yet her main villain has yet to make a contest. The fact that we need a villain contest just to give Ridley a chance at entry doesn't bode well for him.

Ansem

After the flop that was Kingdom Hearts in the Spring 2004 Contest, Sora rebounded and beat the hell out of Ryu Hayabusa. Is that isn't the formula for a trap, I don't know what is.

I gotta bring up something that's always fun to see yet we shouldn't see this year 'til brackets lock down: the BOP. Slow, assuming you do it this contest (which I figure you will), I wish we could still find some compromise about you not making the results public. We've discussed it before and I see why you do, but with how great its past two scores have been, it's something I'm still hoping not to see be made public 'til the brackets lock down this time...

...maybe only certain matches would be revealed or stop showing the results of them after a week or two? Just brainstorming.....

If the assumption that most people haven't played Starcraft's single player is true, then I wouldn't be too surprised if enough people didn't know who she was and she wasn't overestimated. Of course, if I see a "Kerrigan (Starcraft)", then she is sure to be overrated...
