STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP!!!

This is no place for flame wars here! Page 6 is almost nothing but your flaming. If someone hated Pokémon, that's fine with me. If someone liked it, that's fine too. What you're doing is absolutely pointless.

Anyone to second me on that?

Anyway, good job on the preview Ulti. Of course, as you said, I'm going to get a little more in-depth in some areas. I'm surprised you're calling the franchises part in favor of anyone: I'd say since both have only one game and an upcoming sequel (isn't Halo 2 beating Ghost in terms of hype thouhg?), and that match is so freakin' hard to call, I'd have given it a tie.

And sorry for the lack of PD/SOTN preview... I had my last final this morning (it blew chunks) and then I moved out this afternoon following that.

Preview next on SNN, of course.

*seconds Slowflake*

come on, guys and girls. this is supposed to be the sole topic on the board for intelligent flame-free discussion. let's keep it that way. discussing facts and figures and different opinions of which game or charcter is stronger is one thing; but this is getting out of hand.

And personally, I think MGS might be in trouble. Yes, it`s beating RE with ease, but the vote totals are the real story here. FFT drew more votes by this time yesterday. If this happens in a couple of weeks, MGS could be in for an early exit.

*blink*blink*......... what? have you gone momentarily insane, Ultim? look at the percentages. FFT managed 76% against DDR, an arcade dancing game. according to that dance pad poll, only about 18.5% of people on Gamefaqs even own a dance pad. that doesn't count arcade players, but neither that genre or the arcades have a whole lot of support here. MGS, on the other hand currently has 70.8% against Capcom's SECOND MOST POWERFUL SERIES!! here, look at this poll:

Which Capcom game series is your all-time favorite?

Mega Man 31.49% 27472
Resident Evil 21.84% 19053

Street Fighter 18.18% 15861
Breath of Fire 11.61% 10132
Devil May Cry 7.3% 6369
Marvel vs. 6% 5231
Onimusha 2.77% 2415
Dino Crisis 0.81% 703

TOTAL VOTES 87236

this poll suggests that Resident Evil is even a bit more powerful than Street Fighter 2. it would possibly be enough to beat Super Mario RPG. that's a ferociously stronger opponent than DDR. Resident Evil would easily double DDR's vote total (head-to-head), possibly even triple it. and yet, MGS is destroying it by almost as much as FFT did DDR; only about 5.3 percentage points less. for Tactics to have any kind of chance against MGS next round, it would have had to beat MGS's blowout percentage by a whole lot more than 5.3 percentage points, considering the difficulty of opponents.

I was referring to FFT`s poll overall getting more votes. FFT could win a close match based on MGS simply not having enough power.

actually, it looks like this match will only end, at most, 5000 votes lower than FFT's match. that's really not that big of a difference. nothing like FF7's 107000 poll vs Xenogears 69000 poll. >_>

i'm sorry, but FFT has very little chance for the upset next round.

*** COMPARISONS GAME - Match #21 - (6) PERFECT DARK vs. (11) CASTLEVANIA: SYMPHONY OF THE NIGHT ***

Sales

SotN isn't in contention for "most underrated game of all time" for no reason. It sold nowhere near as well as its quality indicates (I'm going by hearsay here, never played it). Perfect Dark was a blockbuster in the day, though. 'Nuff said.

- Advantage PERFECT DARK.

Franchises

The winner here is obvious. Perfect Dark is a lone game, while the Castlevania saga goes back to the 8-bit days. Simon Belmont doing better than KEFKA against Crono, rings a bell? (Granted, Kefka was pwned by SFF, but it's still gotta mean something, even if only symbolic.) And we're talking the really old 'Vanias here. CV is hot here, end of story.

- Advantage SOTN.

GameFAQs Status

Number of FAQs: Perfect Dark
Number of reviews: SotN
Average review score: Perfect Dark
Board activity: SotN

Oh, man. This is definitely the closest match so far in this area. Every time a game wins, the other comes "close, but no cigar". Really, I never expected to render this verdict here, but...

- TIE.

Board Odds Project

PICKS (out of 102)
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - 69
Perfect Dark - 33

POINT VALUE
23. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - 125
39. Perfect Dark - 37

And surprisingly, the still-perfect BOP picks a clear winner here. Nothing more to be said, really. Most brackets entered have SotN bowing out to Goldeneye, explaining the semi-low point value.

- Advantage SOTN.

Summer Contests / Polls of the Day

Alucard did quite well against good opposition both contests, and even got a boost from his new game (what's the name already) which allowed him to barely beat Kirby. Unfortunately, that alone is just impossible to extrapolate from, like I'd do with a Noble Nine's game against a jobber. Perfect Dark's potential remains absolutely unknown, too. More on that just below.

- UNAVAILABLE.

Intangibles

Casual gamers will usually stick with a game from their favorite genre, then just throw it away when a better one comes out. But we don't have lots of these at GameFAQs. They tend to favor FPSes among others, a genre that is not that liked here. And the few we have here, that are all over Halo (and the poor souls among these that have a bracket with it winning it all), well, they probably got over PD some time ago. Most likely it'll lose out on some potential votes here.

And remember, as I said, Castlevania is hot here. Never underestimate it... it does have the potential to do its yearly Sweet 16 appearance.

- Advantage SOTN

Conclusion: Interesting opening for the BangFang Triangle here. I'd tend to favor SotN... but it didn't sell that well, while PD was absolutely HUGE in the day. Then again, sales mean crap (see Metroid Prime vs. Half-Life).

*thirds that*

This topic is not for trolling, flaming, calling each other stupid, yelling out fanboy accusations, calling each other [female cat], getting into wars, and acting like ****ing egotistical morons who make opinionated fanboy posts with no facts to back them up whatsoever. This topic is a place for the smartest people on this board to get away from all that nonsense -- a hiding spot, if you will. If you`re going to come here to act like that, do yourself a favor and create a different topic. I`m sure Slowflake wanted to say this, but doesn`t like getting his feet wet these sorts of issues, right buddy? ~_^

Seriously, I can disagree with anyone in this topic, yet not have to worry at all about being belittled for my beliefs. That`s what smart people do; they have intelligent discussions. And even when things seem to be getting a bit out of line, we police ourselves. Just look at the little exchanges between myself/smitelf and illumina. We`re all a family here, and if you want to be treated like a family member, you have to act like it. We don`t deal with immaturity very well in this topic.

Case and point, I made a post claiming that MGS was in trouble come round two, and people disagreed with me. Now go count up all the posts in which people were like "OMGWTF RU THINKING!!111one+shift".

Anyway, to get back on track, I went more than in-depth in Moltar`s topic, Slowflake (and please, go check it out... that thing took me while to write up). I just felt like giving a rough sketch on the Halo/Starcraft match in hopes that it would push you to give it your best treatment of the first round. This goes without saying, but my post was not meant to be an attempt at upstaging, though thanks for the compliments. I appreciate them.

Come to think of it, everyone get your asses in Moltar`s topic (search "analysis") and read my 9K review of that match. It took awhile to write up, you know ^_^

personally, i think that RE against SF2 would be close. it could go either way.

what exactly is Jill Valentine's percentage relation to Link (or whatever you call it, you know what i mean) compared to Ryu's anyways? that would give a little extra insight.

either way, Resident Evil is still waaaaayyyyyyyy tougher of an opponent than DDR, which is the point i was trying to make.

I would think a Jill/Ryu encounter would end up with a victory for Ryu with 57-58% of the vote.

And Ulti... that was jaw-dropping. I think I'll just link to that in the Intangibles section. I was intent on giving that category to Starcraft all along... yet there is one thing you forgot, one very, very, big thing. I don't know if you neglected it on purpose or not (if you did, shame on you)... I won't say it here, because I need to keep my material for the actual preview!

cyko's Point of View

Match 21

(6) Perfect Dark vs. (11) Castlevania: SotN

as far as i can see, there are two main reasons why people picked Perfect Dark to win this one -

#1 - it was the seeded higher than Castlevania, therefore getting many more nominations.
this one i don't buy as a good reason. first of all, there were more high-profile titles on Playststion to pick from than on the N64, making it much easier for PD to get more nominations. second of all, i think the higher power of CJayC might've had a hand in arranging the potential long-debated Perfect Dark vs. Goldeneye matchup. (i know the "experts" on this board strongly favor Goldeneye over PD, but trust me; it gets argued a lot on some boards) he admitted that the seeding wasn't 100% nomination order, so i believe that this is one of those "planned" matches. just like Sonic 2 vs, Mario World.

#2 - it sold many more copies.
- this one i can believe a little bit. more sales generally means it's more recognized and more well-known. but sales aren't everything. if they were, Pokemon Snap, Tomb Raider, and Enter the Matrix would all be ahead of Perfect Dark.

that's not quite enough for me to put faith in PD, though. here's the three main things that put faith in Castlevania for me:

#1 - Castlevania is a huge series here.
don't believe me? here's another poll for you:

Which Konami game series is your all-time favorite?

Metal Gear 34.87% 26479
Castlevania 21.87% 16606

Suikoden 10.37% 7874
Yu-Gi-Oh! 7.81% 5930
Contra 6.72% 5101
Silent Hill 6.19% 4698
Bemani (DDR/BeatMania) 5.55% 4211
Goemon (Mystical Ninja) 3.31% 2510
Pro Evolution/ISS/Winning Eleven Soccer 2.2% 1671
Gradius/Parodius 1.13% 857

TOTAL VOTES 75937

Castlevania is Konami's second most popular series, only behind MGS. the series is extremely recognized and popular here. and SotN is one of the highest rated games and generally accepted as the best in the series. it has a very high recognition factor.

#2 - Alucard's Summer Contest performances
- Alucard may not have beaten any really high-profile characters, but he has made the Sweet Sixteen twice against some decent opponents. he also did reasonably okay against the massive powerhouses Cloud and Sephiroth.

that in itself makes SotN respectable. what makes it outstanding, though, is that the game itself is what makes Alucard so popular. the main reason why people vote for him is because he is the guy from SotN. some characters are popular enough to stand up without any high quality games. slap Mario or Sonic or Cloud or Yoshi on any mediocre game and it will sell well because that character is in it. slap Alucard's face on a mediocre game and noone will care. that means that the game is strongern than an already decent character.

#3 - SotN is closer to an RPG than Perfect Dark - take it for what you will, but SotN did a good job of blending some RPG elements into the gameplay, which draws the huge RPG crowd here to it. Doom did pretty well, showing that FPS's can hold their own against RPGs, but Castlevania is a heckuva lot more well-known than Earthbound.

all of that adds up to a Castlevania victory to me. in fact, i don't think Perfect Dark will evn be close here. the Castlevania series is simply too big here, and it's the crowned jewel of the series.

additional point of view
- when i told my friend, Benchp300, that this was a hotly debated match before the contest started, he said, "what? are you kidding me? Perfect Dark is a piece of child pornography compared to SotN. no contest."

that's a direct quote.

prediction - Castlevania: SotN with 57-60%

my bracket - Castlevania: SotN

personal favorite - Castlevania: SotN
- i may not have as strong of an opinion as Bench, but SotN really was a masterpiece. everything from the exploring to the massive bosses to the little sidekicks that fought beside you made it a fantastic game.

Yesmar's Contest Comments: Day 21: 4/22/04

· Oh well, guess I forgot to post yesterday. There wasn't really much to say.

· Well both FFT's and MGS's results impressed me since they both did better than I expected. I expected FFT to get 68-69% and expected MGS to say 63-65%. Quite impressive on both counts.

· I'm fairly sure Metal Gear Solid will be the one advancing to the Sweet Sixteen. In my opinion, getting 70% against Resident Evil is much more impressive than getting 76% against Dance Dance Revolution. Welp, that's pretty much all I have to say. I'll be leaving for Boston on tomorrow, and I should be able to catch tomorrow's match before I leave, but I guess I'll miss the next two after that. :( At least I'll just be missing blowouts.

FFT wins, but not by as wide as a margin as I had hoped. It's definitely going to go down to MGS in Round 2 now...

Does anyone else think that SOTN may even take out Goldeneye as well in Round 2? As has been mentioned, the FPS genre is not hugely popular on GameFAQs and few seem to be giving SOTN it's due IMO. I'm actually somewhat confident that Alucard and Co. can take down the two FPS games and pull a Nevada in this year's tournament and beat the 'favorites'.

Before the contest started, we had been talking about that. I think that general consensus is that Goldeneye would be able to beat SotN if it got past Perfect Dark.

For whatever reason, I didn't listen, and kept SotN over Goldeneye. I don't know what anyone else thinks, but I suppose it is possible.

Its going to depend on how close this match is. I think anything beyond a 70-30 victory for SoTN tomorrow spells serious trouble for Goldeneye - if SoTN has that much support, Goldeneye will be hard pressed to tkae round 2. However, Goldeneye is much, much more popular than PD is, so anything less than that bodes well for Goldeneye.

In fact, if PD comes within 15 percent of SoTN i think we could almost call round 2 a Goldeneye victory right then and there.

Match Review: Final Fantasy Tactics vs. Dance Dance Revolution

Tactics came, Tactics saw, Tactics conquered -- it won the battle, yes, but the war? I don't think so. Yes, it got 76% against Dance Dance Revolution. Then again, this is Dance Dance Revolution we're talking about here. An ARCADE DANCING GAME. I'm not saying DDR isn't fun, but Jesus, it's hardly an accomplishment to beat it on a site where Arcade games have next to no influence, let alone a game as "unique" as DDR. I think Ulti might have gone a little daft in thinking this match so impressive (but he has entirely redeemed himself with his Halo/Starcraft analysis)...I find this victory as underwhelming as LttP's against Adventure. Yes, it's a clean victory, especially for a game like Tactics which simply doesn't have the clout that the main Final Fantasy series does, but it's one of the weakest games in its division, along with NiGHTs and PDS. Just as LttP didn't impress me by wiping the floor with Adventure, Tactics doesn't impress me here. It did as well as it should have, not less, not more.

Match Preview: Perfect Dark vs. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

Perfect Dark: Best. FPS. Ever. It's criminal that Halo gets a 1-seed while Perfect Dark sulks at #6, absolutely criminal. It came out too late in the N64's life span to enjoy the popularity that Goldeneye did, and that is what will ultimately cost it the match. That, and some people simply don't like Perfect Dark as much as they do Goldeneye -- they feel that it was "missing something" that Goldeneye had.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night: *THE* Castlevania game. The one with the steamy hot vampire, Alucard. The one that kicks ass. "Curses, why do two such awesome games have to be pitted against one another in the first round?" I cry to the gods. It may not have sold as well as Perfect Dark but Xenogears didn't sell as well as Pokemon, either. GameFAQs doesn't care how many copies of the game sold. Furthermore, Castlevania has the great advantage of several awesome sequels, one in particular on the GameBoy Advance that I enjoyed and can't for the life of me recall the name of. Sure, SotN itself may not have sold much, but the Castlevania series combined (and the Castlevania fanbase *will* rally around this game, regardless of having actually played it, because of its reputation) will kick PD's ass.

This division is a hell of a lot more exciting than Division 16. Here we have another hotly debated match -- though not so hotly as some of its predecessors -- between two great non-RPG games. For the first time in this contest I find myself wishing that both games could be winners because they both deserve it.

My prediction: Castlevania 55%, Perfect Dark 45%

Were you seriously having an orgasm? Did you watch some h4rdc0r3 pr0n to enhance the experience? I mean, that would be the single coolest thing I`ve ever heard of on this board ~_^

Anyway, to be a bit more serious, I thank you. I just started going off (oooh, another innuendo) while writing that thing, and before I know it, everything sort of exploded and landed on my computer screen.

Er... um.... HEH.

Okay, I swear to be dead serious here. That meant a lot. A testament to what I`m actually good at around here, I guess: analysing things. Plenty more to come from once this contest is over, believe me.

That is all.

Ack, no, I can't go and waste a post on that. But seriously, give it up already Tai, everyone else has. As has been suggested, take it outside this topic if, for some incredibly stupid reason, you want to continue.

creative: Thank you very much for the ftp offer! Sure, I would love to be able to host my Archives off a folder on your site. No more having to worry about geocities bandwidth dying, plus I'd have a much nicer, more professional looking sig. I'll e-mail you for the info in just a minute here.

Now for tomorrow's matchup... I'll just say this: don't count PD out quite so easily. I'm usually very much in agreement with the Expert opinion from this topic, but in this case I'm really not. The board in general has already outsmarted us one time (we were 6.5% more sure that... the one game that we should never mention in here again... would beat out Xenogears), and even with a 20% boost, I'm not sold on PD being done for. The only thing that's keeping me from siding with my beloved Perfect Dark on this one is the pic factor.

Now, I know this isn't supposed to come into play, but I think in this case it just might. What do you see when you look on the right? Just the word "Castlevania," in big, cool-looking yellow letters. If there was ever a pic to take advantage of the series vote (especially with the younger crowd, which has been so heavily exposed to the series recently on the GBA), this would have to be it.

All that being said... go PD!

I just got done picking the games for my pseudo-SpC2K5 bracket (under reserve of course). And I got one thing to say... it's going to be hell seeding that thing, way harder than the one I did last year. I took the opportunity to raise the number of PC titles to 10, too.

A question I wanted to ask is this... if you go see the PD reviews, you'll see a lot of people think it outdoes Goldeneye. Then, why would we be so confident that Goldeneye would do what PD wouldn't by beating SotN?

From: UltimaterializerX | Posted: 4/22/2004 7:28:18 PM | Message Detail
Because far more people have played and loved Goldeneye than Perfect Dark. Have you played and mastered both games? Perfect Dark really only gets higher review scores because Rare specifically made that game out to be a Goldeneye on steroids. It has more weapons, better weapons, better graphics, tougher AI, an insanely detailed multiplayer, a harder single player mode, more cheats, cheats that are more difficult to obtain overall, and far more single player options than simply running through the game on three different settings. There is a firing range, hologram tests, gadget tests, and even a Co-op and Counter Op mode.

But the game simply did not have what Goldeneye had: originality. Sure, anyone can compare the two games and say that Perfect Dark was better, but how many can say that Perfect Dark isn`t a Goldeneye made better? I can`t, and I`ve devoted a **** load of time t each game. Perfect Dark just didn`t have that magical "it" to it that Goldeneye did, better game or not.

On another note, I URGE you to go and take a look at the first 4-5 pages of the first pre-contest topic. The stupid things we said... ;) I also noticed I once had picks I don't recall ever having: SMRPG over SF2 *loud buzzer for switching*, Starcraft over Halo (I might regret switching here too), KOTOR over VC (okay, so I just woke up when I made my bracket) and FF6 over LttP (personal favoritism is just so much stronger than common sense at 6 in the morning).

I'm regretting my pick of Final Fantasy VI over LttP right now. I'd still like to see an upset, and if any series can pull one then it's Final Fantasy. It would be hilarious if it won. Starcraft winning, though...now that might restore my faith in humanity. I can understand people liking one game over another that I'd prefer but there's something about the idea of Halo beating Starcraft that makes me want to stab the nearest inanimate object (which happens to be a can of compressed air...I'm guessing I should lay off on the stabbing).

I find this victory as underwhelming as LttP's against Adventure.

Final Fantasy Tactics didn't impress me too much either, but The Legend of Zelda's victory over Adventure (I'm assuming your not talking about A Link to the Past vs. Gunstar Heroes) should've impressed you. Adventure is probably the weakest game in the tourney, but The Legend of Zelda showed itself to be a major force. Would SMB3 have gotten that much against Adventure? Very questionable...which means it might lose. SMB3 still has to be the favorite, but The Legend of Zelda cannot be discounted, and its performance against Adenture is a big reason for that.

If you were talking about A Link to the Past vs. Gunstar Heroes, then I agree that it wasn't too impressive, though still a very solid performance.

I'll e-mail you for the info in just a minute here.

Did you e-mail me yet Ngamer? Because I haven't gotten anything. mail@sc2k4.com

Wow, just got back from the Oracle topic, and I can't believe these high high picks for SotN. I probably shouldn't stick my neck out like this, but, alot of this has to be board hype, right? I mean, I don't see how the stats back this up at all.

We can safely assume that SotN ~= Alucard, right? I can't see how the two wouldn't be within a couple % of one another. Given that, is it really possible for Kirby (who certainly had the backing of the Nintendo faithful, but is still only a mid-tier within his company) to be that much more popular than a solid N64 classic like PD? Let's not forget just how close that matchup was last summer.

Alucard over Kirby
53328
48818
102146 total
4510 gap, 52.21%

And yet I'm seeing predictions of 62% and above. What gives here? I can't see a 10% loss merely on the fact that it's an FPS.

As long as it`s not another human being, we`ll be okay.

I still try not to mess with stuff that has that triangular explosive sign on the front ^_^

Oh yeah, hehe, LttP vs. Gunstar Heroes is what I was referring to (although I wasn't impressed with LoZ vs. Adventure either, really, considering how few people had heard of the latter even on the boards).

At any rate, I'm not feeling too worried about tomorrow's match. I don't know if that's a good sign or not but at the moment I'm merely counting the days until Halo/Starcraft, which could easily be the most disappointingly straightforward match of the tournament or a nailbiter. If PD vs. SotN had come at another point in the contest then maybe I'd be more excited, or maybe it's just because I really have no preference about which game wins tomorrow since they're both awesome.

Anyway, goodnight.

Hehe. If the Nintendo Fanboys come in and support PD, they'll say "OMG ALL CASTLEVANIA HAS IS BIG FAT LETTERS WHO THE [BLEEP] CARES ABOUT THAT?! *fanboy votes for PD*"
Once that happens, Castlevania might be tossed out the windwow..

Hopefully it will be another DK/DH match..PD rule all!!

For the Starcraft vs. Halo match, I wouldn't be terribly surprised by a blowout going either way.

However, I think there's probably going to be an asymetry with regards to how whiners would be treated. I'm guessing that people that whine if Starcraft loses would be treated with a helluva lot more respect than those that would whine if Halo loses. I don't know if that's right.

As far as I see it, once someone blurts out "Starcraft rules! Halo is just some fake-ass game on the X-Box" OR "WTF Halo losing to a 16th seed! You damn Starcraft cheaters!!! Halo the best game in the world!" or something like that, all hell will break loose. The bashing of a game isn't anymore liable for a flame war than the bashing of another one as long as the basher says the [ ] that the fans of the game being bashed doesn't wanna hear. As long as the basher says what the fans of said game doesn't like, a flame war is 99% sure to start.

Well sure; I mean we respected SF2 whiners for quite a while until everybody got sick of them as that game did introduce a genre. There's also the factor that most people on the board have been playing videogames for a long time, and some of the site voters may have shown up after Starcraft's time, whereas most of the people here are old enough to know that Halo's popularity will die off when a shooter with better graphics comes along. "Know your roots" oldschool voters tend to have reasonable support on this board in general.

Zelda has yet to do anythign trully impressive. Puttign up the biggest % ever is nice and all, but we're talking about Adventure here. Don't sell FF6 short, it's far from out. It beat a much tougher game to get to round 2, and it didn't seat at all. MK would probably take 70% on Gunstar Heroes simply because most people don't even know what GH is. I wouldn't be surprised if a large portion of GH's votes were anti-Zelda or pro-underdog. FF6 > Kefka. Don't forget it. If out numbers held up how would Kefka have done against Scorpion? I don't think it'd have ended up the same as FF6 vs. MK.

On a similar note, Alucard < SotN. Someone asked, and I can assure you the game is much greater than the character. I've never had any fears about SotN vs. PD, and I don't worry much more about GE vs. SotN. Maybe I didn't pick the popular choice. Maybe I'll be wrong. But I do have faith in SotN, and my faith hasn't been misplaced yet. Matches I considered a toss up though... that's always where I get hurt.

I'm walkin' on clouds now guys. SotN better be up to 70% of the votes when I wake though, or else I'll fear the possibility of a correct prediction. Still... PD almost = GE votes, so 60% is still fighting fit. I guess we just need to see how badly GE can... thought it pains me to say it, blowout PDS. And even more painful to say, if GE doesn't take 80% on game that only had 6000 copies released in th US on the Saturn of all systems... I feel sorry for it. Well, no, I won't, because PDS should actuallly win. :)

And it still stands.

I'd just like to see Perfect Dark come back a little, just so SotN looks less dangerous against Goldeneye.

So the BOP is still perfect after six tough match-ups. Halo will win... BOOK IT! ;)

Well here we go kiddies :) Time for...

Steve Illumina Speaks

Thats right, the infamous yet humorous commentary is back, to go with all the rest of us here in this, the greatest of threads, the most worthy of postings on this fanboy dominated board.

And so it continues, with Rare's quest for revenge in the "Golden Age" Division

Match XXII

(3)Goldeneye vs (14)Panzer Dragoon Saga

Steve's Prediction: Goldeneye by 84.4%
Steve's Bracket: Goldeneye
Newbie's Pick: Goldeneye 4 sure!
Upset Chances: As good as Sega bringing out another console...

Comments: Here we got the 1st of 3 blowouts to end the Golden Era...and not too much more really.

The finest FPS, Rare game, non Mario or Zelda title that ever graced a cartridge slot on N64...Goldeneye is a beloved game in the hearts of many. A game so loved it fills Gamestop Used N64 game bins across the land. When I worked there a couple years back it was by far the most widely circulated game, both in sales and trade ins. Strange, I know.

So what does that say? Nothing really. 'Cept that there are lots of Goldeneye cartridges, but not too many Panzer discs. Hmm...number of cartridges is directly proportional to the number of votes...which correlates to the percentage of victory...which is a direct inversion of...oh who cares! This is Goldeneye's match to win...will be over in about 2 minutes.

Ah...Panzer...thy legacy revived on the Gates' Box...so gorgeous was thee...so rare are thou art too that thy cost exceeds 100 on hallowed Ebay...ah yes we revere thee Panzer...forgotten gem of the system known as Saturn...Alas...pray thou get 10000 votes this day...

Probable Results: Goldeneye empties a clip into Saga, and sends the Saturn to the 1st of 2 back to back defeats.

Steve's Moments: Goldeneye: Worth $1.00 on a trade in, but priceless to many a Nintendite. Panzer Saga: Sorry Saga...so sorry indeed u must face this juggernaut. Needs a port to the Box...hint hint.
