Looks great Morgoth. Oh, no worry Solar, we're
still reading your topics. I prefer the 2nd one but that might just
be me. --- "Britney songs are like Final Fantasy, evryone

I'm still here too, of course. =) I'll stay on
till the bitter end, no question. To the death!! <g> And
you're not the only one to prefer the second chart,

I still read this for now (don't think it'll
last much longer though, I suggest you archive it ASAP if you want
to keep the info). I probably prefer the second design of the
two. --- Everyone that says "There's no such thing as a stupid

I think I prefer the second chart as well. The
first one looks slicker in a way, but the second seems more
functional. And I like King Morgoth's too. It's so difficult to
decide...
Oh well, I'm not going to decide until tomorrow
anyway. :) --- Full Contest Stats:

I'm also staying on to the end, of
course.
Hmm... in case of sudden disappearance of this Board,
it would be a good idea to archive this topic. It would make a good
addition to the website, I think.
My tremendous applause to
you as always, Solar.

In case of a sudden disappearance of the boards
before you archive it..ive archived it roughly on wordpad.

About 20 minutes before the final poll closed I
saved every page of this topic, just in case. :) And I recently
saved some of the stuff that's been posted since then. I have no
interest in archiving the whole thing necessarily, unless that's
something you guys would like to see. I might post my recent
analyses up with the previously saved few, but other than that I
don't expect to do much with this topic. Unless there's a specific
request.
I've been short on time lately, but I've got the
Contest Averages reformatted now. Due to popular opinion, formatting
option #2 won out. The only major update I have planned for the
future is to include the seriously impressive results that King
Morgoth collected for the final poll. Those will be up in some shape
or form eventually. For now I've stuck a link to his page on the
site so that those who haven't seen it yet will be able to find
it.
Other than that, I think I'm finally done.
=)
Bananaquest: I'm not sure where I'll go once this board
shuts down. I expect I'll take a break from the message boards for
awhile, then appear infrequently at various game boards when an
exciting new game is released, and seldom be heard from again...
until the Summer 2003 Contest message board. ;) --- Full

That's
alright. With that huge amount of time spent on stats since Day 1,
you needed a well-deserved break. Kudos for staying up late getting
all the data organized, which is a lot of work. At least you have
your website up, which I'll be looking at deeply with great interest
for the next couple of days.
If there's another major
contest, rest assured that I'll be back in action. Take care,

I don't know if there are still people left here
but I'll post
anyway.... http://www.geocities.com/kingmorgoth/summercontest/characters.html
Some
people might find these interesting, they are tables about how the
different characters performed in different aspects of the contest
(total votes, average votes per battle, Average Vote %, Total Vote
Differential, Average Vote Differential) and the results are quite
interesting. The tables might not be perfect but they give quite a
good idea of how the characters really performed (i.e. Kirby is
ranked 25th overall even though he lost his first match, Scorpion is
15th even if he made the quarter-finals, and so on...)
The
results are not biased by my tastes and are not scientific in any
way, they are purely mathematical and entirely based on the fives
categories I named higher.
And I say it again, THEY AREN'T
PERFECT.....Ryu is 10th overall and Samus is 13th
overall.....whatever ;) --- "Everything gold does not

Oh, btw you can put as many of those tables as
you wish on your site Solar. I wouldn't have done this if you hadn't
worked day and night on your stats for the past two months

work! --- "Everything gold does not glitter Not all those

I agree, that's an awesome chart. It does a good
job of averaging out each character's performances. Ryu had a
blowout before his respectable loss, while Samus couldn't manage one
and once drew to a tie. Still, it does seem odd, for some reason,
that he ended up higher on the charts.... ;) If Solar doesn't put
it up, and you don't plan on keeping it on the server, I'd love to
give it a good home. =)
One thing I would like to see on your
site from this topic, Solar, are your analysis posts. They were good
stuff, and unlike us, you did a long one for every later
match.
(I think of this now because I just finished updating
my own site, which now has comments for every round posted....

Sorry I've been too busy to post lately. I'm
taking a second to squeeze this in out of fear that it may be my
last opportunity before the board disappears.
Very cool stuff
with the stats, King Morgoth. I was working on some of those myself
but didn't get a chance to finish them. Of course, I was only doing
total votes, average votes, and average percentage, so your massive
ranking system trumps that. :) I might suggest that you include more
percentage categories in your overall rankings chart (you've got 4
for votes and only 1 for percentage). Like: Total Percentage, Total
Percentage Differential, and Average Percentage Differential. I
realize those categories are redundant and will look just like the
Average Vote Percentage, but the inclusion of them may balance the
Overall Rankings a little and perhaps give us a top 10 that doesn't
include Ryu. ;) Also, I seem to have gotten some different numbers
than you, particularly in the average vote percentage category. That
seems odd. Maybe I'd better check mine again. Anyway, great work.
That chart is a lot of fun.
I'd like to quickly thank
everybody one last time for making this topic and the stats website
a success. Thank you for your support. In particular, thanks to
Kirby Still On Top, Jjukil, and NeoElfboy for helping out in the
beginning and making this all possible. Without their encouragement
and support this topic would never have survived. And I'd also like
to give particular thanks to King Morgoth, Samberdog, and Ringworm
for their continued support and contributions. You guys helped make
it all worthwhile.
P.S. Visit Jjukil's archive site. It
rules. :) --- Full Contest Stats:
