The "Top 100 Users of the Decade" contest that Ayvuir completed last week was pretty cool, but ExTha and I got to wondering if there was perhaps a different (more accurate?) way to determine the best B8er in recent history. We decided to try taking the result of each yearly "Top 100" list and combining those standings over the Contest's entire five year history, which allows us to pretty accurately cover the whole timeframe from 2005 to today. Plus, doing so eliminates the "recency bias" that allows people who were supported only in 2009/10 to dominate voting that had been intended to cover ground all the way back to 2002.

The resulting list was very strong IMO, so we thought we'd share it with the board.

In other words, ready your tag canons- here comes the definitive Top 100 list for the past five years, featuring short writeups by ExTha for all 100 users!

(In other words, for these standings being ranked the #1 user of 2006 is weighted just as heavily as being #1 in 2010.)

I find it amusing that I've been posting somewhat regularly for 8 years and at this point I'd be surprised by an honorable mention.

95. Aeon Azuran
Top 100 Appearances: 2
Highest Position: 25th in 2006
Lowest Position: 73rd in 2007

Aeon finally gets out of AT's shadow and eclipses him by two positions. It's such a shame that we don't still have this two, as it's totally unquantifiable the things they added to board 8. Aeon's most legendary action was of course, devouring Final Fantasy X. Great topic, if you weren't here to experience it, I'm sorry. I wish for the life of me I could remember the bet that he lost that caused that. Great stuff though.

Well do you want me to lie to you about Kleenex making the list or not? >.> Anyways, AKJ was one of the most popular users on the board( I didn't say biggest because I'm not a fan of puns. >.>), for a good amount of time back in 06-07 and then he left the board for a while. In his time here, Josh was great. He was always involved in shenanigans in some way or another. He was almost always kind and polite, and almost always up for a good discussion. His relationship with GamerPanda that turned into a soap opera was also a big board 8 story, as I remember a lot of us were invited to their wedding. I used to talk to AKJ on AIM pretty frequently and I remember we traded pictures of our girlfriends as though they were cards. >.> That was fun. AKJ is slowly starting to post more and more which is good, because for a while there he was a traitor who stuck to LueLinks most of the time. Stick around now that you're here, Josh!

how's this for a first B8 post with my new account!

uh I'd just like to thank the fantastic users of Board 8 for voting me 1 spot higher than Vlado on this list. All is right in the world.

Now under new management, you are welcome.

38. StifledSilence
Top 100 Appearances: 3
Highest Position: 9th in 2008
Lowest Position: 66th in 2009

Personally speaking, I never liked Stifled, but a lot of people disagree with my opinion on him, or at the very least did back in the day. Stifled rose to popularity very quickly, not even being around in 2006 yet placing 19th in the 2007 list, which is one of the best first time listings in this list's history. A lot of his friends would say that Stifled was a really nice guy, and not many people really disagreed with that. He was pretty reserved and mostly stuck to the UUL topics where he had quite a bit of success in. I'll say this, I wish I had a wiki as well organized as Stifled's which appears to be color coded in some way, I'll admit that alone is pretty damn impressive. According to his wiki, which I'll go ahead and treat as fact, Andy is his favorite user of all time. Also of some note he made a Nintendo 64 hurt and heal contest, which was ran well enough as to be called "successful." Stifled's lasting legacy is hard to determine, as he is gone now and has seemingly left the board without much of a fuss. He failed to make the 2010 list, and he was not in the top 100 in the user of the decade competition held earlier this year.

37. Lopen
Top 100 Appearances: 5
Highest Position: 38th in 2010
Lowest Position: 91st in 2009

Lopen is awesome, and also incredibly consistent. As you can see in the opening stat listing, his placing in this list is higher than any of his individual listings throughout the years, which speaks well for his consistency. Unfortunately, it makes him the lowest placed person to have made all five lists, or to spin it another way, he is the first person to appear who has made all five lists. First means he won, right? Maybe not, but Lopen certainly deserves to win something or another. Anyway Lopen has his shadowy plots in a lot of board 8's different projects. He is an owner of a team in the Mercenaries project, where he laughs evilly from his shadowy throne and manipulates people like puppets, or so his press releases tell us. He is also in UCA, board 8's most popular wrestling project, where he is currently feuding with the current GM, Tom. He also plays mafia every now and then, and I can honestly* admit that he strikes fear into my heart with his oppressive play and dominating personality, he is truly fierce. Lopen seems to be enjoying a lot of exposure to the board as a whole lately, having his highest listing this year as well as doing exceedingly well in the User of the Year project, currently in the top 40.

36. Inviso
Top 100 Appearances: 5
Highest Position: 16th in 2006
Lowest Position: 95th in 2010

Inviso has been a fixture on the board for several years now, although her popularity and influence appears to be on a downward trend, as she has only slipped on the list the longer she has been around, peaking in 2006 and falling steadily ever since. Inviso has always brought a unique presence to the board, with her various interesting writing projects that I have never bothered to read, admittedly! She is probably the board's biggest Survivor fan, and if she isn't the competition is pretty close. She is also a well known furry, and often can be seen taunting Smurf over the fact that he is a furry, much to her own amusement. Personally speaking, I didn't have a chance to talk to Inviso a lot but whenever I did I always enjoyed it for the most part. She always seemed to carry herself with a certain amount of understated class, not one to really throw hissy fits at the drop of a hat, and she always had an interesting perspective on whatever it was that she was talking about, which you can't always say about everyone. She still posts on the board, although her days as an e-pop force are behind her, I like to think she still has her niche that will endure as long as she deems it interesting to post on board 8.
