Welcome to the official topic for this season's First Vote Championship. All season, this competition will be run by myself and my partner, Ngamer64, right here in this thread.

Every day over 100,000 gamers come to GameFAQs to cast a vote, and each night hundreds of the most hardcore of them attempt to be the very first to give their opinion on the day's poll. But there can be only one FV winner... will it be you?

Since I'll be able to get TRE's attention easily in this topic, I request that TRE send me the GotY update spreadsheet to my email address (in my user profile). I lost the GotY update spreadsheet, so I tried going through the stats topic archives. When I finally did find the link to it, I found that TRE had deleted it from his web hosting space. TRE should really have Ngamer upload the spreadsheet to his website, because he has way more hosting space.

D'oh, accidentally closed the tab in which I voted, so I'm not exactly sure what vote I got. I believe I saw two blue bars of equal length, with white space between them, for a split second. I voted for SMB, so I'm guessing I was either 2nd, 4th, or 6th.

When I got the 4th vote, there were 2 votes for SMB and 2 for Zelda. RockMFR reported having the first vote for Zelda, but came in 2nd overall. The first vote had to be for SMB. So you would need to get the 6th vote in order for SMB and Zelda to have blue bars of equal length. You didn't get the 2nd vote because RockMFR got it, while I had the 4th vote. Though, this doesn't solve the mystery of who got the first vote.

Third, third for FFVI. This is like the nth time where nobody seems to have gotten the first vote, and I've had the first vote among people reporting in this topic. Furthermore, all of the votes previous to mine in those occurrences have been for the same game as my vote. This makes me wonder if the poll has been glitching with my attempted votes...

(Also, TRE, it would help in these instances if you reported your vote number; it's somewhat irksome to have you only report after someone else has declared victory)

That's what I'm saying -- I find that extremely odd that not only have several people beaten all of us, but they all voted for the same game that I did. By Occam's Razor, I'd say it's much more likely that the poll's been glitching.

Knew when I wasn't the first for a Final Fantasy, it had to be Aprosenf. :P

Three of my top four games of all time are Final Fantasies (and the other is Chrono Trigger) =). Just finished replaying IV on the DS, gonna start CTDS soon.

Pretty epic comeback there.

Thanks! I've been playing around with my timing all contest, and I think I've finally got it down to a point that I'm happy with -- not too early, not too late. We'll see what happens in the bonus match.

lol, I seem to remember Luster last year continuing to get first votes in regular POTDs for like 7 days or some other awkward amount of time and posting them in this topic after the contest had ended. :P

Well anyway, great contest guys. See you all next season!

Three of my top four games of all time are Final Fantasies (and the other is Chrono Trigger) =). Just finished replaying IV on the DS, gonna start CTDS soon.

Yeah, I've always been a big RPG fan, too. My favorite will probably always be Lufia II, and it's really the game that got me into RPGs in the first place. If you haven't played it yet, you really need to. I've basically never met anyone who's played the game and not absolutely loved it.

(And of course, that was the one game I really wanted to get the first vote for this year, seeing how, to my knowledge, it was the first time L2 had ever even been an option in a GameFAQs poll. TRE beat me to it, thus making any first vote victory of mine kinda pointless. ;_;)

Hah, thanks. :D I often wonder how many people get some of my references and how many just think I'm crazy. I guess during the offseason I'll have to keep my ears open for any Futurama quotes that can be applied to GameFAQs first vote contests. :P

And I still wonder if TRE got my reference here (http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/detail.php?board=8&topic=48953200&message=538992015), or if he just thought I was insulting him an extremely creepy way... Heh.
