i think we are. i've voted for metroid every single time in this contest so far, but i'm voting zelda this time since it's the better nintendo series (love BOTH series as a huge nintendo fan)

Link/Zelda has been an unstoppable SFFing machine against all things Nintendo, with the exception of this one match. Meanwhile, Metroid/Samus has been getting sucked dry whenever anything Zelda drops by ever since this. What made 2003 so weird?

That's a good point, let's consider pic factor.

I was thinking that there wouldn't be as large a pic advantage today, because at least you have Samus on there. But now that I look again, I can see how at first glance all you'd see is a bunch of test tubes and a visor on the right, while Link more or less dominates the left side of the screen.
But is TP-style Link really 20% stronger in SFFable settings than WW-style Link?

Final Fantasy > Cloud (easily)
Zelda > Link (easily)
Super Mario > Mario (pretty easily)
Samus > Metroid (seems clear now)
Snake > MGS (maybe?)
