.SC2k6 Prediction Percentage Challenge - 2nd Phase topic!

[This challenge had been started by Yesmar for the spring contest 2k4, continued by Haste2 and yoblazer33 for SC2k4, then by swirldude for SpC2k4. Part of the introduction/rules is from his topic, other parts are from the Oracle Challenge (run by Kaxon and King Morgoth) and from solarshadow, so full credits to all of them.] The Challenge For each match in the GameFAQs Summer Contest you predict the percentage of bracketeers that predicted the correct winner. (Bracketeers = people that entered a valid bracket) New participants are still being accepted anytime before the semifinals of the actual contest bracket (please indicate that you are new and make a minimum of three picks). You DON'T need to pick the correct winner. In Round 1 you can make a prediction for either of the two contestants (as the other's percentage would be 100-x). The closer your prediction, the more points you will get. Starting with Round 2, I advise you to make predictions for both contestants (100-x cant be applied anymore)! If you think the winner is obvious you can go ahead and only give a prediction for him. But beware: if you are wrong and I didn't get a prediction for the actual winner, you get no points. Please use a new line for each of your predictions, as this will facilitate the evaluation (still by hand), e.g. Mario 80% or Ness with 60% not Mario 80%, Ness 60%, Zero 50%, Lloyd 100% The Scoring Points will be awarded according to the formula 50-x with x being the difference between your prediction and the actual prediction percentage. Example for Round 1: Mario beats Joanna Dark. 93.45% of brackets get it correct. Prediction of Mario with 93.45% = 50 points Prediction of Mario with 90.09% = 46.64 points Prediction of Bowser with 43.45% or lower = 0 points. Prediction of Joanna Dark with 6.55% = 50 points. Example for Round 2 and later: Mario and Ness both won their first round. Now Mario beats Ness. 85.61% of brackets get it correct. Prediction of Mario with 81.41% or Ness with 5.15% = 45.8 points (independent of the Ness prediction) Prediction of Mario with 81.41% = 45.8 points Prediction of Ness with 5.15% = 0 points (!) Preferred format: Mario with xx.xx% Ness with zz.zz% Zero aa.aa% Lloyd bb.bb% ...and so on... Rules (Read them!) 1) All predictions must be made before the start of that match’s poll (approx. 0:00am EST, 11:00am CST, 9:00pm PST, 6:00am CET?), except for the a 'Finals' match. For a 'Finals' match, one prediction or one change (if you had predicted in advance) is allowed during the first 12 hours of the match. Predictions submitted after this time will not be counted or may be subject to penalty. 2) Your prediction does not need to be different from everybody else’s guess. However, intentional and continuous prediction mimicry will not be allowed. 3) You may change your prediction for any match at any time, subject to the rules above. Please indicate clearly that this is a change to a previous entry. (E.g. by starting your post with CHANGE) 4) You may not delete any post in a prediction topic (if you do, please post immediately after to explain the deletion). This is to prevent abuse of the above rule (and to reduce confusion). 5) You may predict matches in advance if you need to. Please make this very clear. 6) I reserve the right to disqualify a pick for any justifiable reason. Additional comment: I will try and update the standings often. But there will be days, especially on weekends but also others, where I will not be online (e.g. 27 October) . I hope GrapefruitKing, Ngamer64 and alpha door can take care of any necessary bumping and saving issues (or if necessary creating a new topic, depending on the number of participants). .As this year's finish of the contest is special, introducing a Battle Royale, I'll have to arrange things a bit differently. As is already the case for a 'Finals' match, the deadline will not be before the match, but 12 hours into a match. You try to predict the percentage of brackets having the correct loser of each day. In other words, the percentage of brackets that have the loser of the day on the correct position. I still suggest you give percentages for all characters alive. This is how I figured I'll run things, and I hope CJayC will give us the percentages that way. But feel free to post own suggestions on the Battle Royale part. .Hmm, you might be right... It would have been very convenient for myself, cause that way I wouldn't confuse things. But this would only work if nobody else would mix up the topics - which wouldn't be easy. And to give everyone enough time to do the Round 2 picks (and have them all together), it makes more sense opening this now for everything and close the other one than to hold back and fill the old one. A fine decision! For the Match of the Century, I think that although Vincent's run through the Devil Division was nice, Ganon's Final match in the Villain Contest combined with Zelda's BSE Championship is going to weigh much more heavily in the mind of the casuals.
