Super Tact Records

Thought it might be cool to see everyone's overall win-loss records in one spot. That's right, any and every match you've ever been in, tallied up and posted. Just try and stop it. I'll start off to make other people look more talented: 1-2.

Lost round 1 in FFTVT3 against philsov

Won 2-0 in Randotourney, against AquaHaute and Captain QBall

Won 1-0 in FFTVT4 against TIDQ

Total: 3-1, going on 3-2 against sqpat

Also, I tentatively claim longest match (me vs Phil) at 256 posts, just beating out the second longest I know of; Aqua vs Phil in round 2 of VT3 at 254.

3-2.

Beat countchocula25 in round 1 of VT3.

Lost to philsov in round 2 of VT3.

Beat Qball in round 1 of sqpat's solo tourney.

Beat Pieke in round 1 of Circl's rando-tourney.

Lost to mathgeek in the finals of Circl's rando-tourney.

I think Falc is 4-1, but I don't know his specific victories outside of VT4 (Circl in round 1, Fenril in round 2).

Speaking of Fenril, so far no woman has made it past the second round of anything on Super Tact. I'll have the next chance to try to do so, when I face onionbreath in round 2 of the solo tourney.

FFTVT 1 (Overated's?)

- Lost in the first round... forget who I was against

FFTVT 1.5 (mine)

- Lost to Malc? in the first round, then won a 3 way between Lance, Pieke, myself. Only to get trounced by Overated.

FFTVT 2 (QBall's)

- Lost to Malc? in the 1st round.

(Or was it Malc's matches, and I lost to Qball...?)

FFTVT 2.5 (OK, not so much a tourney, but an exhibition match featuring a draft, hosted by Falc)

- Went against Overated and was pwned

FFTVT 3

- Beat mathgeek and Aqua, lost to Malc.

FFTVT 4

- Beat Dixie and Count Choc, results against Falc unknown yet a win would certainly be a surprise

Which means my all time record...

5 wins - 6 losses

thus far. Not too shabby.

Banes of my existence: Malc and Overated.

By the way, phil, I was tortured horribly the other night with the realization that since you beat me in VT3, if Falc beats you in VT4, it'll mean basically that Falc could beat me, something I never want to prove publicly.

I'm 1-0, with a win over Circl in the solo tourney. And no offense to the man, but a win over Circl barely counts as a win.

We should put together some extrapolated standings... it'll be tricky, though.

Speaking of Fenril, so far no woman has made it past the second round of anything on Super Tact.

Not that there had been many women playing here... In the tournaments I think it's been just us, you in VT3 and me in this one. And hey, we both made it to the second round, so that has to count as something! :D

I wasn't in VT 1.5, though I spectated. If I remember the contestants they were you, Overated, Lance, Pieke, onionbreath, and sephirothFF. Dunno who you went against in round 1, though.

Um... lessee. I was 2-1 in VT1 and 4-0 in VT3, so I guess I'm 6-1. (5-1 not counting victory-by-disqualification.)

I'll put together a couple little standings charts:

Novice Division (1-4 matchs)
T1) Claude00 (3-0, 100%)
T1) Dekar (1-0, 100%)
T1) Merlin the Tuna (1-0, 100%)
4) LHMG (3-1, 75%)
T5)Dixieflatline (1-1, 50%)
T5)Black Fenril (1-1, 50%)
6) CountChocula (1-2, 33.3%)
T7) Truthseeker (0-1, 0%)
T7) Scythe (0-4, 0%)
---)Seerow (0-0, 0%) ;)
Pro Division (5 + matches)
1) MalcolmMasher (5-1, 83.3%)
2) Onionbreah (7-3, 70%)
T3) Sqpat (3-2, 60%)
T3) Aquahaute (3-2, 60%)
5) Philsov (5-6, 45.5%)
6) CirclMaster (3-4, 42.8%)
7) Pieke Otaka (1-4, 20%)
8) CaptainQBall (1-5, 16.6%)

I think that's everyone who posted. And now its settled: Anyone who says girls can't play Super Tact, point them to this list. Both of our ladies are more than holding their own in their respective divisions.

Hee.

If I'm remembering correctly what he said when we were talking about victory records on the phone Saturday night, Falc should be in second place if you're going purely on percentage of matches won.

And SHOOT. Now that I'm seeing onionbreath's record, I'm all terrified at the thought that I'm facing him in round 2 of solo tourney. And I thought me fighting phil was a guaranteed loss. ^_^;

Thanks for the compliment, but don't worry yet :) We don't know what the objective will be. I'm sure that in some matches you'll have an advantage, and in some I will.

Just so it's in one place... what are all the records for the previous tournaments?

FFTVT1 had me, Overated, onionbreath, Lance, Zaku, Qball, speedychocobo and Phoenix. (I think either/both of the last two had numbers appended to their names. Sadly I could not tell you what they were.) My memory on the matches is kinda sketchy, though. I think they went like this - if I'm wrong somewhere, somebody please tell me.

Oh, right, and I'm noting wins and disqualifications. Concessions count as wins. Which... well, I can recall at least one concession that was more of an "I won't participate anymore" than an "I'm losing", so that could be sketchy. Bah.

Round 1
Lance23 vs captain Qball - Lance23 wins
Zaku vs MalcolmMasher - MalcolmMasher wins
onionbreath vs Phoenix - onionbreath wins
Overated vs speedychocobo - Overated wins
Round 2
Lance23 vs MalcolmMasher - MalcolmMasher wins
speedychocobo vs Overated - Overated wins
Round 3
MalcolmMasher vs Overated - Overated wins

I remember talk of a bonus match held between two others (philsov and Sabin47?) but don't recall if it actually occured.

FFTVT1.5 (held on R1-D1 Unit Attack. Great name) went something like this:

onionbreath vs philsov - onionbreath wins
Lance23 vs sephirothff - sephirothff wins
Overated vs Pieke Otaka - Overated wins
Round 2
philsov vs Lance23 vs Pieke Otaka - philsov wins
Overated vs onionbreath - Overated wins
Round 3
Overated vs philsov - Overated wins

I seem to recall there was a disqualification at some point, but I'm not sure. Don't suppose any participants remember?

FFTVT2, fortunately, is (mostly) immortalized at falcon's site:

RenamonFOX vs DragonElemental - DragonElemental wins
Sole vs captain Qball - Qball wins (Sole is disqualified)
onionbreath vs Zaku - onionbreath wins
Sabin47 vs philsov - Sabin47 wins
LesOop vs CirclMastr - CirclMastr wins
SpoogeMonkey vs falcon815 - falcon815 wins
sqpat vs Overated - Overated wins
Lance23 vs MystErikEry - Myst Erik Ery wins
Round 2
captain Qball vs DragonElemental - captain Qball wins
onionbreath vs Sabin47 - onionbreath wins (Sabin47 is disqualified)
CirclMastr vs falcon815 - falcon815 wins
Overated vs MystErikEry - Overated wins
Round 3
captain Qball vs onionbreath - onionbreath wins
falcon815 vs Overated - Overated wins
Round 4
onionbreath vs Overated - Overated wins

Same for FFTVT3.

DPR vs CirclMastr - CirclMastr wins
DoomsdayMD vs MalcolmMasher - MalcolmMasher wins (DoomsdayMD is disqualified)
AquaHaute vs countchocula25 - AquaHaute wins
longhairmathgeek vs philsov - philsov wins
Petey J vs Mithrandir1331 - Petey J wins
Rising Chaos vs Scythe Marshall - Rising Chaos wins
Niton Lover vs sqpat - sqpat wins
ff6shadow vs DragonElemental - DragonElemental wins
Round 2
CirclMastr vs MalcolmMasher - MalcolmMasher wins
AquaHaute vs philsov - philsov wins
Petey J vs Rising Chaos - Rising Chaos wins
sqpat vs DragonElemental - sqpat wins
Round 3
MalcolmMasher vs philsov - MalcolmMasher wins
Rising Chaos vs sqpat - Rising Chaos wins
Round 4
MalcolmMasher vs Rising Chaos - MalcolmMasher wins

FFTVT4

Still underway.

FFT Solo Tourney

Still underway.

I also know there were a couple o' exhibition matches. Unfortunately, I am lazy and do not feel inclined to rummage through and find who was in them and what they won. So I don't suppose someone could list 'em?

And as a final note, the list contact information topic has been purged. I don't suppose anyone had it archived? 'Cause if they did, that'd be awesome.

In the first tournament, it was me vs Overated in the second round (you gave speedychocobo a second chance)

I think I counted my matches wrong before though -- I'm only 6-3.

And upon looking at my match vs Sabin again, I see that the outcome of that match was still far from decided, so I'll no longer take credit for a win for that match.

That leaves me at 5-3, 62.5%

Other matches I know of:
Aeris7777 vs truthseeker97 (Aeris wins)
Aeris7777 vs Pieke Otaka (Aeris wins by concession). There was also Pieke vs somebody (Pieke wins)
but I don't remember who he was against. I'll count the win for now. These three matches could be termed the Maverick tourney.

Anyway, I'll include the Maverick, the Rando tourney, FFTVT 1, 1.5, 2, 3, and the first round of 4. I will not include Solo tourney because I don't know who won what, and I won't include round 2 becuase sqpat and I are slow and it's not done yet :-P

I know I am missing some exhibition matches, and I seem to be missing at least one match from Onionbreath. Feel free to amend this list; I'm just going off of what has recently been posted.

sqpat posted a bracket for the solo tourney. I've updated it and copied it here. Round 1 still isn't done yet. The only wins I know for sure: Aqua beat Qball, onionbreath beat Mercy, Dixie beat Myst, and Rising Chaos beat Scythe. I THINK Merlin beat Circl on the grounds that Circl rolled himself a Mime, but I'm not sure.

and I seem to be missing at least one match from Onionbreath

No, it's OK. Watch the magic:
7-3 (my original claim)
6-3 (I miscounted FFTVT1 as 4 rounds, not 3)
5-3-1 (match vs. Sabin changed from win to DQ win)
4-3-1 (Solo tourney results not added in yet)

Now it's your turn: change COAT to SHOE in 4 steps :P

I seem to recall there was a disqualification at some point, but I'm not sure. Don't suppose any participants remember?

Not so much a DQ as a bow out for Sephff, since he was off to not be non-internet-like for a little bit. Actually worked out.

For reference, a 6 person bracket is hellish. It was a pseudo bracket/round robin deal X_X.

I added in FFTVT4 round 2 as it is now finished. FFT Solo round 1 will be added after TIDQ vs Pieke resolves. I also included Circl>PeteyJ.

The top's a little fuzzy; I had missed that there is an onionbreath>philsov back in the past somewhere. Add to that the DQ win and I put him above falcon, phil and myself... for now.

Don't count these as official, but as things to compare to:

Complete victory: 41 ticks, falcon815 d. SpoogeMonkey, VT2; 45 ticks, Rising Chaos d. sqpat17, VT3

Shortest posts to complete victory: 29, Rising Chaos d. sqpat17, VT3; 31, falcon815 d. SpoogeMonkey, VT2 (both with some deletes/reposts, and Spooge and Malc spent a few trying to make corrections in Spooge's team, so I'm not sure which one was actually shorter)

Shortest posts to concession (aside from "I don't have time" or a DQ): 26, falcon815 v. Black Fenril, VT4

I know there were a couple other <50 post matches in VT3 (Malc v. phil, Malc v. RC, RC v. Scythe?) but I think they scratched the 40's before they finished.

Yeah. That was a 2v2, as I understand it. (I wasn't around then.) Maybe there should be separate categories? It's obviously not possible to end a 4v4 or 5v5 match in that amount of time, especially with maps made for no first round contact.

Loser's bracket VT4
Mithrandir 1331>dixieflatline
TIDQ?Captain QBall (not yet resolved)

I know the final match of Solo was Pieke>TIDQ. Sometime when I'm feeling energetic I'll compile Solo tourney round 1 with the previous rankings.

It sounds like there's a Master Daravon<Captain QBall exhibition that could be added. Noted.

Re: Aqua/falc chillins

Hmmm... it would be interesting to see the two of you team up against Overated. Although there will be an implict chain if Claude beats me and Falc beats Claude, because then we have:
Falc>Claude>Overated.

Nevermind the overated>falc in VT 2. You know how one's first tourney is. Unless you're Claude, and you've just got the mad skillz.

Scythe's right. Time for an update.

First of all, announcements:

If anyone has a match or a bracket with a completed round for a tourney, please post it. It can't be ranked if it isn't seen.

If I have mauled anyone's handle, please post to correct me.

If anyone else feels the need for an update here, feel free! I don't see these rankings as proprietary.

Notable changes:
Scythe has fought her way back up to the mid 20s after defeating TIDQ at Murond Death City.

Onionbreath's record now justifies his placing.

Rising Chaos is moving again after Solo round 1; he's now tied for 5th.

Claude is putting the move on. I think I may have put a stop to it, but only due to massive intervention by the goats. Moreover, it's not over yet.

Captain QBall is back in the top 20 with his victory over Master Daravon, whom many know for his documentary work on the nature and disposition of the special knight classes. (does anyone have a copy of that, btw?)

TIDQ and truth are feeling life as newcomers on FFTVT. As I've said before, the first tourney or two are really rough, because on Super Tact everything is kicked up another notch (to 11!!). Best of luck to both.

Aqua has ooched her way into the top 10. You go girl!

And we are now up to 45 people on the list! YAY!

A few corrections:

Overated v. Claude went two pages (check my site); the match you're thinking of was VT1 or 1.5 (not sure which), and it was Overated > onionbreath, not Claude.

Also, it was onionbreath v. Aqua that went so long in solo.

Onionbreath took the field. Overated took one step. Onionbreath conceded.

That was a fun match :( His units were so much faster and more mobile then mine, and after his first move I could see how exactly how he was going to kill me. I had one desperation play available, but it needed an extra-long teleport and a spell, leaving about 7% chance for success. Sadly, that was the best I could do. Once the teleport failed, I knew I was dead, so I conceded.
After the match Overated explained the details of his plan and it matched my prediction. If we'd played the whole thing out it probably wouldn't have gone over 40 ticks anyway.
At least Overated is a predictable opponent -- you can predict he'll make the optimal play and you'll probably be right nearly every time :P

So now I'm against the only person to beat the only person to beat me.
Will me vs. Claude follow math inequality theory, or rock-paper-scissors theory?

OK, let's try this again.

Qball>MD... I think I added 1 win and 1 loss to Qball and 1 loss to MD. Sorry Qball.

Scythe... don't know why I was thinking you were female. My apologies. So the only girls are Aqua and Black Fenril, or am I missing somebody?

Also, now that it's over, I included semifinals of VT4.

My plan had been to include an entire round of a tournament rather than individual matches whereever possible to simplify bookkeeping. Hence I'll include Mith>dixie after TIDQ vs Qball resolves. Sorry Mith.

You know, if I let either of the Indirect Damage matches carry on until true victory, they'd probably surpass the "longest match" easily.

Does anyone have a concise version of the results of Round 2 of Solo tourney?

If I get info on that I can post it, the finals of VT 4, the GGCCC maverick match, and anything else someone wants me to post all at once.

And yes, I am much more likely to update this after a match I'm in resolves. But isn't that my perrogative? :-)

Actually, as I look at it, indirect damage round 1 is complete, with

countchocula25>Mithrandir1331
DragonElemental>Seerow (DQ)

So I'll include those too.

So, Solo round 2 is:

onionbreath>Aqua
Claude>Dekar
Merlin<dixie
RC>Pieke

Also, we have Claude>onion breath in Solo round 3, and Mith>dixieflatline from VT 4 losers, which, due to my relative inactivity and some enthusiasm for break skills and chickening people, is still running.

I suspect a full update on this is about to be forthcoming.

And it's update time!!

Matches added:

Indirect Damage
countchocula25>Mithrandir1331
DragonElemental>Seerow (DQ)

GGCCC Maverick:
LHMG>Lantus

VT4 finals:
falcon>LHMG

Solo Round 2:
onionbreath>Aqua
Claude>Dekar
Merlin<dixie
RC>Pieke

VT4 Losers:
Mith>dixie

Solo Round 3:
Claude>onionbreath

And I still put myself funny. I need to play phil again.

Big changes:

The top has been rearranged notably. Falcon has moved into the cherished #2 spot, with much applause. LHMG has added two wins since the last update, upping his rank marginally. Claude continues to demolish his opposition, and is now tied for sixth with Rising Chaos, who has also added a couple of wins recently. Phil and Malcolm need to play more matches.

Merlin the Tuna is up near the top 10 with his win over dixie.

And Mith is off the bottom with his first win, albeit a month or two late in the recording thereof. Applause!

An interesting idea which just occurred to me: a mixed tourney: 8 spots for vets (5 or more matches, or 3 or more wins, or somesuch) and 8 for newcomers (anyone else... and I realize my terminology needs some work. Sorry). The two brackets would not mix, but would be run under the same rules. Or it could be run under some round robin/elimination rules: two matches to eliminate.

There are several matches I'd like to see that haven't happened yet. Just from looking at these rankings: LHMG vs RC, phil vs Claude, Merlin vs Aeris, Myst vs Count Chocula, TIDQ vs truth, to name a few. *sigh* if only I had time.

One minor ammendation:

Scythe Marshall should be above dixie, not the other way around.

I'm considering using a point value assignation rather than ranking by wins, then losses, then DQ wins, then DQ losses. However, most systems I've come up with result in very similar rankings to what I've already produced. If anyone has any ideas on this, let me know.

First off, ty Aqua for posting the results from MSCC round 1. I appreciate the help.

Secondly, an error: in the last update, due to me listing it backwards, I also recorded Merlin<dixie backwards. Dixie should be 2-4-0-0 and Merlin 1-1-0-0. If either of you happens to stop by, please reconfirm these figures.

OK, new matches included are:
MSCC round1:
sqpat > DixieFlatline
Master Daravon > DragonElemental
luckylink17 > Lantus
Aeris7777 > truthseeker97
longhairmathgeek > TIDQ
countchocula25 > captain Qball
Mithrandir1331 > philsov (Upset! Congrats, Mith! Better luck next tourney, phil)
Claude00 > chessjerk

Randotourney 2, round 1:
Falcon>seerow
BOW Chris>chessjerk

Solo round 3:
RC>dixieflatline

Solo round 4:
RC=Claude00? I don't want to start including draws due to their expected rarity, so I will count this as a DQ win for both of you.

News:

1st off, a welcome to our new additions: BOW Chris, luckylink17, chessjerk, and Lantus! With you guys, we're up to 50 people ranked.

Claude and RC are still moving. I, like the rest of us, would like to see which would come out on top in a fight.

I need to find some way to compensate for people running tourneys. It should count for something, right?

With the correction, Mith is moving up in the world. hooray!

Aeris777 continues his unimpeded winning streak with a rematch against truthseeker97, taking him near the top 10.

countchocula is also nuzzling the top 10. Good luck! Wait a minute... I shouldn't be saying that...

And I'm in 3rd. *shakes head* There MUST be something wrong with this ranking system.

And MSCC's first round seems to be round of the rematches. LHMG>TIDQ and Aeris>truth were both repeats. The RNG is a fickle lass.

Maybe give some sort of honorable mention to those that have been able to provide good tourneys. Maybe a name and the Tourneys they're responsible for. This could go as well for refs.

Since this topic needed a bump anyway, and the topic's come up in channel, I thought I'd offer my completely unsolicited two cents. The topic of these rankings has come up in #fftchallenge multiple times in the last week for varying reasons, and each time it does, I'm more and more convinced that they're not only fundamentally flawed, they're probably not even necessary.

The problem I have with it as such can be summed up with two simple examples. For the sake of using actual numbers, let's say that Overated doesn't come back for a while, so his record stays at 10-1. Eventually, someone fights enough matches to acquire a record of, say, 11-8. They'd automatically be placed above Overated simply because they've fought more matches. This just looks silly; it's patently obvious that a 10-1 record is better than an 11-8 record.

On the other side of the coin, let's use a pure percentage model. For example's sake, imagine that someone comes in, has one exhibition match, wins, and never comes back. I don't believe their 1-0 record, perfect though it is, should stand above everyone else.

In addition, the extra stipulations used to 'rank' people higher than others only serve to complicate things and cause whispers of discomfort among those who feel their accomplishments are being unnecessarily cheapened or boosted.

Due to these mathematical and emotional concerns, I don't think we need a "ranking" system. However, an archive of each individual participant's record shouldn't pose any problems, and would serve the statistics-hungry among us just as well as any other format. Perhaps an alphabetical listing would better serve this stats topic - or perhaps an eventual stats webpage? - in the long run.

Thoughts? Mith brought up breaking things down by number of matches participated in, which would at least help to alleviate the numerical concerns I mentioned. That's an idea, but the specific delineations could certainly be debated.

From: Master Daravon | Posted: 3/23/2005 10:53:59 AM | Message Detail
Hmmm, why not have 2 rankings then:

1. Based on percentage with a minimum games played requirement, which will increase as we continue to play more games, of course. We can use a reasonable formula to determine what the minimum cut off is that also allows those that join later (but battle consistently) an opportunity to be a part of the list as well. This would be the primary ranking list

2. An alphabetized list of those that haven't played enough games. This would be the secondary/honourable mentions list

I think for now, everyone should keep a personal log of who they've played and whether they won or lost. If a person only plays against opponents s/he knows he can beat, they can theoretically be ranked higher than someone who can beat such a person. I don't think we've played enough games to incorporate this aspect...but eventually it's something to consider as it will provide an even more accurate representation of rankings.

"**** YOU DARAVON." That pretty much covers it all, doesn't it?
From: Master Daravon | Posted: 3/23/2005 11:07:46 AM | Message Detail
Well, another wild card involves the types of matches that are played. A Solo tourney is different than a FFTVT tourney, so a win in one can be more valuable than a win in the other (which is the opposite for losses). This leads me to think that a points system should be determined (opponent won/loss against as well as the type of match played), similar to hockey, but a little more complicated for obvious reasons. So the points are the determining factor as far as rank, but we still will have stats like wins, losses, and win % as well.

Again, I don't think we have played enough games to determine the details of this system, which is why i say for now let us all keep a log of the matches we play and when the time comes, we can implement the system without too much difficulty.

Mmmm... you've got me going, MD. Thank You.

I don't think I'm going to include rankings on people running tourneys with the rankings of matches, despite the fact that running tourneys is definately correlated with winning a match, which is a goal of this whole endeavor. Therefore I think it would be a good idea to keep a listing of how many matches people have run. I believe that all the information is in this topic, but it would take a little research.

What might be easier would be to have people give me a reminder or two of what they've run. I believe I can fill in a few, but corrections or additions would be needed and welcome:

sqpat:
Solo tourney, 15 matches

chessjerk:
GGCCC maverick, 1 match

Philsov:
VT4, 15 matches (I'll count these as Phil, not Niton, even though Niton started it and ran the first few ticks - maybe Niton can get an honorary mention)
Do you have more, Phil? I think you've run a maverick or something.

Niton Lover:
VT4, honorary mention

Circlmaster:
Randotourney 1, 3 matches
Rantotourney 2, 2 matches + 1 pending

LHMG
Maverick tourney, 3 matches
VT4 Losers, 1 + 1 pending

falcon
VT 3, 15 matches
MSCC, half: 4 matches, 3 pending
A bunch more I'm forgetting

Aqua
Maverick x 1 (who?)
MSCC, half: 4 matches, 4 pending

I'm still missing VT1, VT1.5, VT2, Indirect damage, and some exhibitions.

Phil ran one of the early tourneys (1 or 1.5), if I'm remembering what someone else said to me months ago properly. I think Overated ran the other. Unsure which was which; I wasn't around then.

Aqua also ran a few matches in VT4. I don't know how many off the top of my head, but all of VT4 is archived at falcon.sandwich.net/fftvt4/ , so it would be easy to check.

I ran exhibition matches between Circl and Petey J and philsov v. Overated before I ran VT3.

Malcolm ran all of VT2.

And I miss all the discussion that occurred. Whoops.

There are two concerns here, both very important:

1) the rankings aren't nice

This is by far the best reason for discontinuing this. I've been trying very hard to make them positive, but if people are getting upset, we should stop, or at least stop ranking. I have not been following the #fftchallenge board, so I don't know what has been said. I also don't know how to address this: please let me know.

2) the rankings aren't fair

I agree, and I've said that from day 1. That's why I've reranked people on occasion, notably myself and Circl. I've asked repeatedly if anyone has ideas on improving it, and I've been cooking on some sort of point system as well. But I haven't been able to come up with a system which is out and out better.

One of the goals of the rankings is predicting who would win a match, or who would play interesting matches. I like to see who is nearly tied, for example Claude, RC, and myself. However, TIDQ vs QBall has been fascinating, and would not have been indicated as such. So the rankings are only doing a so-so job.

I think I should continue to do this. But I am only one voice. Please post if you have an opinion.

GGCCC maverick, 1 match

I guess you could also add the Aqua-Fenril all female exhibition match to my list of reffed matches.

As far as the rankings go, I would prefer a percentage based ranking with a minimum number of matches required to be ranked (maybe 3 or 4?). But that's just me. :)

For right now, why not go by win percentage with at least 5 matches played (or any more appropriate number). When the majority of participants have played at leats 15 games or so, then we have a better idea of where everyone stands with each other, and a good points system can be developed.

Any comments on some of the factors I've already mentioned for a points system (ie. type of match and person won against)?

I don't know how to address [people's feelings]

That's because feelings vary, and come to a head on many matters, including:

- Some people don't make teams to win, they make teams to have fun and see what will happen. Should the 'theme' teams and random teams that went out early in VT3/4 be given special consideration because they weren't as powerful as they could have been?

- Some people step aside and don't enter every tournament out of respect for others who wish to participate, while some others sign up for everything. The rankings as they stand would terribly tilt toward the latter, simply because of that difference in attitude.

- Some people step aside and run matches rather than participate. Should they be penalized in the rankings because they're willing to take on the workload instead of playing?

Those are simply examples that I've heard or expressed myself. I can't say how many other issues people have feelings on.

Any comments on some of the factors I've already mentioned for a points system (ie. type of match and person won against)?

Sounds like the BCS in planning. I suppose we should take into account relative team strength, too? Or maybe the map wasn't suited to one team or the other? There are far too many factors - not all agreed upon and not all with concrete 'value' - that go into who wins and who loses these matches to be able to rank them fairly or accurately.

Instead of setting arbitrary parameters for what type of match, on what map, against whom, with what classes, with what rules, etc. is 'worth' more, I think a simple list of participants (sorted by alphabet or some other non-W/L method) in HTML would suffice as a record of what transpires. Each participant would then have their own list of battles participated in, the setting of the battle (VT4, Solo, MSCC, etc.), against whom, and whether or not the participant won the battle. It would be child's play to look at such a list and make whatever observations one desires.

Since I've already got many battles archived, it could also link to the battles individually. I could easily host such a project, and would be more than willing to work on it as well.

I don't recall running any maverick matches - I did four battles in VT4 (and did the last couple days of another VT4 match), and will have run eight battles in MSCC when it's over (four completed).

By the way, I don't want the aborted match against Fenril counted in my win-lose record, not even as a DQ win. It was too early for there to be any clear leader. Add a footnote or something if you must, but she didn't lose and I didn't win.

I don't think so; if you purposely make a party that isn't to the fullest of your capabilities, that's the same as say, handicapping yourself by not healing during a match or something. It's a form of bragging or having fun, but a win is a win and a loss a loss whether or not you tried as much as you could IMO.

- Some people step aside and don't enter every tournament out of respect for others who wish to participate, while some others sign up for everything. The rankings as they stand would terribly tilt toward the latter, simply because of that difference in attitude.

Gee, I wonder who this mainly refers to >_>

Anyways this topic is unofficial IMO anyways since there seems to be no format of ranking that makes that much sense. IMO rankings shouldn't matter unless someone wanted to make some kind of FFTVT Masters tournament or something of the like, and even then I think a vote would be best.

I ran 1.5, which consisted of 6 matches. Only 5 of these actually involved me running numbers, however, since Onionbreath walked onto the field then waved the white flag to Overated =P.

I've done 1 maverick match (Pieke vs. Skulls), and as Aqua already pointed out, she gets those the FFTVT 4 matches.

I said I'd respond tomorrow... like a week ago. Very suave.

sqpat, MD, falc: thanks for speaking. I've been thinking about this and my conclusion is that as my ranking system fails in its purpose of predicting good matches, it has very little positive merit. Therefore it is not worth my active effort to reorder and renumber the list every time I do an update of the W/L statistics. The next time I update this, I will reorder it alphabetically. As falc observes, it's "child's play" to extrapolate some guesses, and the list could still be used if a vets tourney or a vets bracket for a tourney were ever arranged. If someone else wishes to reorder it instead, I have no objections; as i've said before, this is NOT my baby, I'm just doing something I thought would be neat to have done.

As far as setting up an html interlinked record of who has played whom, it sounds great... and like more effort than I had been planning on putting in. Plus my web design is pathetically weak. But I would be willing to reorganize some of the data here, or help out with something which required very little knowledge of HTML.

Coming from a so-far winless tournament player, I honestly don't mind the rankings myself. *But*, I guess I can see why it can be considered a rather unfair and "not nice" system.

But I still like keeping track of match records, regardless. Hopefully to improve my own record, and also because I'm fairly confident the match between Qball and myself is going to break some records for length before it's over. At least in posts. Probably not clockticks, although there are a lot of speed breaks around the field, so maybe.

I also just want to post the final status chart to show everyone what absolutely decimation two archers can do in a long battle.

Ack I've let this go too long. I think I'll do this in two phases: first where I collect all the matches that need to be added and second where I actually incorporate them.

Matches to be added:
MSCC
Round 2:
sqpat>MD (falc)
lhmg>countchocula (aqua)
claude00>mith (aqua)
Aeris>luckylink (falc)

Round 3:
Aeris>sqpat (falc)
lhmg>claude (aqua)

Exhibition
Philsov>Aqua (claude)

And I think there was another exhibition, but I missed it.

I'm also missing who played in indirect round 2, and Rando tourney 2 round 2, and their results.

And, the ref list:

sqpat:
Solo tourney, 15 matches

chessjerk:
GGCCC maverick, 1 match

Philsov:
VT4, 15 matches (I'll count these as Phil, not Niton, even though Niton started it and ran the first few ticks - maybe Niton can get an honorary mention)
VT 1.5... 6 matches?

Niton Lover:
VT4, honorary mention

Circlmaster:
Randotourney 1, 3 matches
Rantotourney 2, 3 matches

Claude00
Maverick: 1 match

LHMG
Maverick tourney, 3 matches
VT4 Losers, 1 + 1 pending

falcon
VT 3, 15 matches- some
MSCC, half: 7 matches
Mavericks: 2 matches

Overated:
VT 1, 8 matches

Luckylink:
Indirect: 3 matches

Aqua
Maverick x 1 (who?)
MSCC, half: 7 matches, 1 pending
VT 4: +some

And perhaps I should repost the link to falcon's archive at the bottom of every update. Does someone know what it is?

I've begun (and actually nearly finished) work on compiling lists of everyone's matches. Sometime in the next few days, I'm going to need corrections/additions to the information I have, and then I'll begin organizing it player-by-player on my space.

If the following people are paying attention to the topic, I am missing some information regarding your matches:

Dixie
Mith
Pieke
Qball
TIDQ
truthseeker

I think there are more, but the first part of my work is still at the house.

http://falcon.sandwich.net/fftvs/ has seen a fairly major update. Brackets for everything I could find records for are now available, save MSCC - I know Aqua has that one taken care of somewhere.

Would the person who was in charge of the mage tournament please provide me with a rundown of what happened?

Falcon, as far as I can see, the only match of mine you don't have was my loss to BOW Chris in Rando2, and I didn't save that one.

As far as matches I've reffed, here's what I can remember:

Mathgeek/Lantus (GGCCC)
Aqua/Fenril (All-Female Exhibition)
Duke Vimes/Seerow (All-Male Exhibition)
Canth/Lunar (Exhibition)
Lunar/Tarli (LMUM)
Scythe/Seerow (LMUM)
Argg/kaicel (LMUM)

I think I'm missing one, but I'm not sure...

OK. I'm clear on your matches, chessjerk - I'd actually forgotten you were in MSCC, since I didn't run your half. I think I have the rando2 match sitting around here somewhere...

And thanks for the list. I had most of those already, but LMUM has mostly escaped my notice, so that'll be helpful for additions.

The Mage Tournament was eventually just ended abruptly due to lack of interest from all parties. Both myself and TIDQ tried to forfeit at the same time just cause we were sick of how the match was dragging on (3 months....), and the final match never went through either so... *shrugs*

I encourage players to check their own pages and point out any inaccuracies to me, either here or via e-mail at bolnerap@gmail.com.

I have a player index almost done; I see no reason why I can't have it finished by the end of the day, and uploaded tonight. It'll be good to have a slightly more concrete thing to link to.

There will be a large update to the archive coming up either tonight or after the conclusion of ff6shadow v. countchocula25. In addition to the VT5 round 2 matches, I have collected the following other data. Please let me know if there are any additions or corrections.

Exhibition:

sqpat d. kaicel (it's not quite over, but it's over), officiated by chessjerk
alkanshel d. tsubameGaeshi, officiated by Duke Vimes
Tarli d. Ness26, officiated by philsov

The other current exhibition matches have not finished, and will be included in the next update.

Other matches:

LMUM Winners: Argg0 d. Scythe Marshall and LunarApostle, officiated by chessjerk

sqpat vs. Master Daravon - I cannot in good conscience count this "match" (which did not even start) if the exhibition between AquaHaute and Black Fenril doesn't count. They ended for the same reason, but the latter match actually went somewhere; far enough that I'd feel bad if I didn't count it in chessjerk's officiated column.

Special notes:

Congratulations to philsov, who, with the recent completion of his match with Lantus, has now played in 20 matches over the course of the past couple of years.

With the addition of alkanshel, tsubameGaeshi, and Ness26, we have passed the mark of 60 players represented in the archive.

With the completion of sqpat v. Rising Chaos, Malcolm will have officiated 20 matches.

With the completion of mathgeek v. Scythe, Aqua has now officiated 15 matches.

With the completion of sqpat v. kaicel 3, chessjerk has now officiated 10 matches.

Circl's profile will be updated to reflect his officiating history. Not sure why that got passed over last time.

Again, if anyone wants more information to be posted, or sees any mistakes with current information, please let me know.

1. kaicel vs me is already over over actually

2. lame. But really, what separates one of these matches with say, me vs linktheholyknightwhateverhisnameis. It's a tournament, sure, but does that count for anything that an 'exhibition' doesn't? You make a commitment to do the match either way. The match did start, and i'm confident enough (bwahaha) to say that MD quit when he realized he screwed himself over (in the butt) by sticking his guys in starting positions in which he couldn't move very far. He chose his own ruleset and made the match against me. After the first 3-4 ATs he realized he was in a match he wasn't going to win, and flat out quit; didn't even give an explanation, just said in channel 4-5 days later that he wasn't going to post in the match.

Q: If I were to give up every fight that looked like a losing battle at the start before anything happened, I could be undefeated, right?

A: Lol no DE beat you, lamer

1. kaicel vs me is already over over actually

It wasn't when I started writing, but it was effectively over, as kaicel's final unit was a chicken.

2. lame. But really, what separates one of these matches with say, me vs linktheholyknightwhateverhisnameis. It's a tournament, sure, but does that count for anything that an 'exhibition' doesn't?

Um, yes? Other people waiting on matches to start? Recall that that's the reason Link the Holy Knight was DQd in the first place. I don't think VT4 even had a concrete DQ policy - if it did, I never knew about it or had to worry about it - but your match was one of the few holdups for the second round's beginning, and when Link was being stupid about posting, phil called it off to get things going.

Another good example in the same vein was Overated v. Myst Erik Ery in VT2, which didn't even have a single move submitted before Erik defaulted. Overated had to move on for tournament purposes, but should it have counted for anything? He never even had to post in the topic.

Maybe the old "DQ win" from mathgeek's rankings should be thrown in for instances such as this. It doesn't mean anything to win a match that you don't have to do anything in, and I rather doubt it should count for anything.

Specific to this match: on one hand, I understand why MD wouldn't have wanted to continue; having one team sitting in move-penalty water while the other has free motion is akin to placing a sixteen-point buck's feet in concrete before shooting it. (Who set up those starting positions, anyway?) Winning a match under those conditions is as much of an accomplishment as shooting said buck. However, I don't support setting up a match under any circumstances, saying "I don't feel like it anymore," then immediately playing something else. I can't speak for other players / officials, but I know I don't want to deal with people who do that.

What I would like to see in this particular instance is you two to play it out on a field that doesn't blatantly favor one side or the other. It's the only reasonable solution I can see.

p.s.: did this Aqua-Fenril thing have a mutual agreement anyways, saying that they didnt want to count it, or they both didnt?

I believe Aqua was nice enough not to demand a disqualification in spite of the match progressing well into a second page of 50. However, I may not be recalling the situation properly. I am a bit clouded on the subject; see the final sentences from three paragraph breaks up.

Erk. And also mith reffed 'sqpat vs MD', not chessjerk.

I never mentioned who did. As I said before, the match didn't start. It didn't even make it through one AT cycle.

That's the thing! This was all his thing! He challenged me, he picked the map, he picked the ruleset, thinking he could beat me if his guys started far away enough from mine! Knowing already from the roll that he had north, what did he do...? Stick his 5 guys in the 5 water panels. Then quit when he saw that was stupid and when i wouldn't help him out even more by making the water have no penalty. Dorter trade city is about as big as it gets (i think zelkaus desert is one panel wider) The map itself favored him blatantly as it stood, being huge, not having his priest die on turn one, and giving his bard time to run around and sing. He wanted even more of an advantage, after the match had started. I said no and he just disappeared for four days.

As for the ref thing, thought the chess thing was referring to giving credit for this match. Either way, mith should get credit for reffing since he had to go through the trouble of setting up this match.
From: Mithrandir1331 | Posted: 9/23/2005 4:21:10 PM | Message Detail
I beat Mike (FFMike) in an exhibition last week sometime.

Meanwhile, I have no desire to jump into the middle of this discussion, all I know is most of us thought the water in Dorter was stagnant, and it ended up it wasn't, so I can understand MD's desire to not finish, although that is not how I would have handled things.

And I don't want credit for the match because it was mostly a copy/paste from MSCC1, all I had to do was change the map and starting position info.

That's what I asked, and I think that's what falc said already anyways, without trying to imply that i'm an ass.

Things like these are why I don't like going up against MD. He makes fights more complicated than they need to be. I wouldn't be making a very big deal if this were anyone else; no one else would have handled the fight in this manner, and i'm already quite bitter about my previous experiences going up against MD, because of his behavior. If he's going to eff around with my time, running from an exhibition as soon as things turn sour, I want that to count against him.

And really, why should a tourney-format DQ count as a loss while an exhibition shouldn't?

She had every right to explain the situation in her match with Fenril. As I said before, I was a bit clouded on the situation from my irritation over her withdrawing from that match citing boredom with battling, then signing up for another tournament within three days.

I wasnt bashing your ruleset. The only thing i bashed falc's proposed (and hopefully not enforced) policy of DQing people who had errors in their party.

SURPRISE! A PARTY WITH AN ERROR IN IT WILL GET YOU A LOSS. HOWEVER, GIVING UP WHEN YOU'RE GOING TO LOSE DOES NOT.

(okay actually i said to falc that i thought the whole calc thing was stupid, but i also did say i thought the miming idea was very well balanced okay >:O)

I also got a little annoyed at the attempted muting of 2/3rds of the chat to try and make people be quiet to read off brackets. It wasnt done like that in rando3; if you wanted quiet you could have very well typed /join #mscc.

Funny that you didn't think this was enough of a problem to tell me privately over PM or in channel, but it was important enough to bark about in a completely unrelated topic. I usually try to handle things like this privately. If you have any intentions of patching things up, etc, or yelling at me and telling me to go to hell, continuing this argument, etc, do it on IRC. It doesn't belong on the boards, much less here.

To clear the situation a bit more - yeah, I withdrew.

It was a fun match... until we got a visitor later that week. By Monday, I realized I was just slapping random moves there with no plan and not paying any real attention to the match. Either team could've still won, and anything could've happened, but I couldn't continue it due to RL issues. Aqua was kind enough to not count it as a DQ loss.

We should really try again sometime when I'm not distracted. ^_^;

This was four or five days after he had posted last. So i had already given him a good deal of leeway, considering he was posting in other matches and seeminlgy purposely ignoring that battle. He said he forfeit, or withdrew, or whatever.

i wasn't bashing your ruleset

You, sir, are a liar.

[sqpat] the special class rules for MSCC2 are dumb
[falcon815] Which part?
[sqpat] well, the mime rules are fine, but the calc rules are stupid
[falcon815] You'll have to elaborate. Most people, if they have a problem, are fine with calc but not mime.
[sqpat] wtf is with them being limited to 50 faith?
[Mith] ...they're not.
[sqpat] oh
[sqpat] well, JP cap, wth
[falcon815] what's wrong with that?
[sqpat] it's dumb
[falcon815] why?
[sqpat] it's artificially trying to add balance to the game
[falcon815] and other rule changes in the past didn't?
[sqpat] for that matter why is kikuichimoji not mimeable?
[falcon815] Look at the damage it would do.
[sqpat] my maxed-out samurai in MSCC only did 176, not to mention she was slow
[falcon815] only? Add a mimed kikuichimoji in there and it would kill nearly anything on neutral. take Knight: 167 base, add crystal helmet and reflect mail. 417.
[sqpat] what's MA on a mime
[falcon815] 10 on a female
[sqpat] *16
[sqpat] 160 lol that's nothing
[falcon815] how is that nothing? set up a double kikuichimoji - the Mime will go first, as you mentioned, since the samurai is slow, so you can position it as you like - and you do enough on neutral to kill anything short of Knight and Lancer.
[sqpat] w/e

I saw the logs, okay? I know what you said when I was in channel, and I know what you said before I was in channel that night.

I also know that you made repeated personal verbal attacks against my best friend, which also doesn't help my feelings toward you.

I also got a little annoyed at the attempted muting of 2/3rds of the chat to try and make people be quiet to read off brackets.

That was Malc, not me or Falc, and if everyone had had the courtesy to shut up for TWO MINUTES there wouldn't have been any muting.

Fenril: I would enjoy that greatly, seriously. Your MSCC team doesn't seem to have any errors, although I still have to check evade.

No, you said "the mime rules are fine." Unless I'm unaware of the subtleties of pat-language and this is extremely high praise, you said nothing about "very well balanced."

And later you said, about the Calc rules, that it's "artificially trying to add balance to the game." Make up your mind - either you like artificial balance or you don't.

The only thing i bashed falc's proposed (and hopefully not enforced) policy of DQing people who had errors in their party.

For clarification, I suggested removal of people who failed to follow rules for special characters and replacement with an alternate, of which we have plenty.

Consider the following:

1) The person should have read the rules before signing up for the tournament in the first place.

2) The person also received an extra notification of rules regarding their specific characters prior to team creation.

If you can't understand the rules after two readings, I question whether you will ever understand them at all.

Ah, but I forgot, we're talking about someone who never read the rules to begin with.

Yeah, reaaally bad. There, look everyone, see what I said. (banned word obviously not censored when I said it) And I only said it in response to you calling me ********, anyways. (Omg, can't believe I have to censor that.)

And you think what I said was special? I've said things much worse to most of the people in #fftchallenge, many more times, than that one thing I said to you. Ask falc, I've said a lot to him. He's also said a lot to me. Just cause someone insults me doesn't mean I have to hate them, you know. Sometimes people get mad (like falc's weeklong anger mode before he left) and act like asses. Don't think you weren't an exception that day.

And god, just cause I didn't like a few of the MSCC rules doesn't mean i hated you or anything. It's not as if I havent been vocal about rules of every other tournament, or exploited their weaknesses (Hi VT5, nice balancing map eh)

:o

Anyways. What's the status of the MD match? :/

Biggest fluke win

From what Canth told me, it sounds like your match turned when you dodged an ability that was more likely to hit than not, then you hit with an ability that was more likely to miss than not. (If I am mistaken, forgive me; I haven't read the match closely.) This sounds remarkably like Malcolm's first match in VT3 (dodged Petrify, 2x hit on Mimic Daravon as an immediate result). However, I doubt that anyone would list that as a fluke. ^_^;

For sheer party composition, I would have to nominate Circl's rando-team victory in VT3. That loses its luster a little bit when one takes into account that his opponent basically asked for it with his mid-battle positioning.

What's the status of the MD match?

Lost in the middle of all that garbage was me proposing to go back through and reinstitute the notes of matches that ended in DQ. That would take a bit. I have a few down, but only ones that I know happened in VT3 and VT4. The problem is, you've got some matches that had a clear winner (DoomsdayMD v. Malc) and some that never got going (pat v. Link, Scythe v. Pete).

I'm not sure how I'm going to handle it. I would welcome non-inflammatory suggestions.

Only today have I stumbled upon this. I know the matter is pretty much said and done, but I would at least like to provide a more complete picture of the situation. Pat's trying to sell something that's not completely true. I realize that I've made a bad impression in the eyes of some (MSCC 1 vs. pat), but I did try to account for it since I jumped to conclusions back then. And I feel that I did the best I could to attempt to salvage that mishap I created.

The challenge I made was as a by-product of minor trash-talking between myself and pat. Though unforeseen, I was not comfortable with the fact that my match back then was essentially a 5 on 4 due to my important Priest dying with me not being able to do anything about it. And considering how I nearly came back, the match stayed with me further.

So when pat offered me to pick a map, distance was a priority. The reason I picked Dorter Trade City is the fact that it has a good size, varying topography, but still allowed pat with some long range distancing attacks. If I wanted to pick a map just to suit me, I would have picked a map with very limited ranged distance, like Germinas Peak, Poeskas Lake, TERMINATE, etc.. Look at Dorter Trade City for yourself, and note that it does allow for distanced attacks even with limited vertical tolerance. Pat does have a lot to work with in this map.

Starting positions was an issue, and pat suggested the starting positions that we wound up using. I didn't pay attention to the water or knew that a water penalty applied. Those starting positions would have made the match a more direct one, which favored Pat more than me. I knew that beforehand, but didn't mind since my main concern was not losing any unit without an action.

I lost the coin toss and when I was figuring the moves for my units, only then did I realize that there was a water penalty (which is why I deleted my posts multiple times). But even more so, the water penalty completely took away a retreat path, making this match not worth playing under any circumstances. So I asked that the water penalty be taken out, and pat said no. So there was no point to continue after that.

I acknowledge that I made the error in not realizing that there was a water penalty, but yet at the same time, would taking out the water penalty be so bad? Without the water penalty my movement was still restricted since most of my units can't reach the building next to me directly. I'd have to go across the waterway to avoid pat and reach the building...and while doing that I'd still be in range of pat's attacks as he bears down on me. It would have been a good match to see how that would have worked out. Few maps have water, and this map, the water wouldn't usually play an important role. So for the water penalty to be taken out wouldn't have effected the match for this map.

I did not disappear for 4 days from gamefaqs. I did post in my match against Duke Vimes during that time. I was not going to participate in the match. I do appreciate the ruling since it shows that there is an understanding to the details of this situation.

I got further into my match with MD than with my match with Link. Funny that you make exceptions to way things were previously done now, eh? ;)

Anyways. If you count DQs different than losses, wont people get themselves DQed before they can lose to pad their record and stuff?

I'm not sure how I'm going to handle it. I would welcome non-inflammatory suggestions.

And i hope you aren't trying to imply i started anything yesterday, eh? ;o

That's how things have always happened in the past.

Depends on the 'past' you're talking about, really. Mathgeek counted DQ wins/losses in his rankings before I took over. I haven't done it, but it's never really made sense to me. Now that I think about it, it could have a function more important than padding one's record one way or another; I'll elaborate in a moment.

I got further into my match with MD than with my match with Link.

Strictly speaking, I don't think that's true. Your match with Link hit a second round. >.> But that's just being pedantic. For all intents and purposes, the two matches are identical; they ended when your opponent refused to post.

Anyways. If you count DQs different than losses, wont people get themselves DQed before they can lose to pad their record and stuff?

On the surface, that seems logical. But then, I think people who did that would build themselves a reputation of unreliability and make it more unlikely that they would be able to set matches up in the future.

The time you came close was because you got to take back moves, I didn't get to take back moves, and I wasn't paying very much attention and made a bunch of mistakes. Note that, the time I actually did care (i.e. match 2) i disposed of you rather efficiently! :O I'm not trying to say you suck or anything. My feeling is just that this board should be for fun, not arguing about records (and yes, i see the painful irony that I started this topic). It seems like people are fighting about balls and strikes during a charity softball game sometimes.

I dunno how my match with Petey would've gone, but I think he's only posted once around here since, and that was a short notice about the progress of his Mediator SSCC.

Seems that thing's as cursed as the TrueCalc SCC...

his sounds remarkably like Malcolm's first match in VT3 (dodged Petrify, 2x hit on Mimic Daravon as an immediate result).

The two events were unconnected. Jeremy was under Don't Act, so Petrify whiffing had no short-term importance, and nothing involving him happened between Celeste's Petrify and Ratel's Mimic Daravon.

Now the outlook wasn't brilliant for the Mudville Nine at points of the match, but I can't think of any string of random numbers that toggled the match's probable winner aside from Ratel landing an 80% 'port and two ~50% MDs.

Hm, I thought it was Jeremy who landed the MDs.

Ah well.

If DQ's REALLY must be included, could they simply count as a loss for the DQ'd player (they knew what they were getting into, and could/should have asked ahead of time, or at the latest said something at the start of the match) but not a win for the other player?

If they count as losses, then people who care will be discouraged from getting DQed. If they don't care, then they wouldn't worry about this anyways.

For those of you who have reffed / participated in exhibitions since the last update, I would appreciate you posting in this topic now, if you haven't already. I'm going to update the site after VT5 finishes, and I haven't been keeping track of every exhibition.

If you do post, please tell me who fought whom, who won, and who reffed, so I can get everything squared away with a minimum of future corrections.

Oh, and since I failed to say it:

Check your profile on http://falcon.sandwich.net/fftvs/players/ first to see if the exhibition's already been covered. The last update was just over a month ago, so it may already be there... or in Vimes's ref-stats case, it may not have been counted properly. Corrections are welcome and will be noted, but I'm looking for additions more than anything else.

If you were involved in MSCC2 or VT5 in any way, those matches need not be stated, as I have all the information I need for them.

*punt*

I'm putting the finishing touches on an update that really shouldn't have waited until after the VT5 final finished. (I didn't think it would last that long. c.c) Not everything that's been completed is covered - I'm trying to go full round by full round on tournaments. However, I'm sure there will be errors otherwise. I've gotten everything mentioned on this past page covered, as far as I can see, but for one exhibition match (RC v. Mith, officiated by pat) that I can't remember for the life of me.

If I can get things uploaded from here, I'll upload as soon as I finish going through the index adding new people and updating records. If not, it'll happen after I get home from work. Either way, I will post as soon as things are uploaded. Please read that post before you go off to check your profile. Please.

OK, the update's been uploaded.

Please look over your profile, but keep the following in mind:

MSCC2 round 2 match results are not yet covered - I will do that when it's completed so I can get it done all at once. So, Vimes, chocula, etc., don't worry, that'll get put in soon.

2450 round 1 is not yet covered in any way - See above. I know some matches are over, but until everything's done, it's not going in the books. Makes things easier on me.

Nothing in TDD is covered yet - pat talked like he'd be running some of round 2 cocurrently with round 1, so I have no idea what's going on there. I'll talk to him later to sort it out.

Exhibition Notes - I have sqpat down for reffing a match between RC and Mith. Who won? Also, the exhibition between pat and Mike (ref: kaicel) slipped by me. I assume pat won, I just want confirmation.

If there are any errors in what is covered (including completed exhibitions), please point them out and I'll get them taken care of within the next work day. This also applies to officiating history.

If you're missing a win or loss in an exhibition - please tell me who the opponent and ref was

If you reffed a missing exhibition - please tell me who was in it and who won

I think that covers everything.

Your profiles can be found at http://falcon.sandwich.net/fftvs/players/. The new and/or updated-since-last-time profiles number 28, and they are as follows:

Aeris, Aqua, Black Fenril, Canth, chessjerk, Claude, chocula, dadu, DE, Vimes, myself, Mike, Ilyalia, kaicel, mathgeek, Lurk, Malc, MD, Mith, Ness, phil, RC, Scythe, Seerow, sqpat, Tarli, Compton, and Valker. All of those should definitely be checked over.

Notes:

With the addition of dadu, Ilyalia, Lurk, and Compton, there are now 67 players listed.

With the completion of MSCC2's chessjerk v. FFMike, phil will have officiated 20 matches. (I give him credit for taking over for Lantus in MSCC2 EX, but this one is indisputably his. :p)

With the completion of MSCC2's Claude v. Mith, Aqua has now officiated 20 matches.

With the completion of whichever TDD match ended first, sqpat has now officiated 20 matches.

With the completion of MSCC2's Compton v. chocula, I have now officiated 50 matches.

I'm working on an update; all I have left to do is work through TDD rounds 1/2 results. It'll be done by the end of the work day.

Two questions, however, both generally directed at kaicel, but anyone who knows can answer:

* Who reffed kaicel/dadu?

Seems that way. ^_^ The most demanding thing at my job isn't work-related in the slightest. c.c

That aside...

Update of the archive is done. Here's a complete list of every profile I changed/created:

That totally explains why I updated when you poked me about it :p

And yeah, I know there's more TDD coming, I'm just trying to keep everything straight with what's done. I do have current matches in a couple people's refertoire, but I don't think I did that for you. Ah well, it'll all get caught up in the end.
